Three brands of "SAMS" compared
I just bought three different SAM-type splints on Amazon and they seem comparable: (a) SAM brand, $13.49, Made in USA (b) Everready 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $6.16, Made in China (c) Dixie 4.25 X 36 Inch Padded Aluminum Splint, $5.87, Made in China As far as stiffness goes, they are all about as stiff and to me, the SAM seems to be the limpest of them all. They weigh different amounts, could be foam weight, could be aluminum weight, could be both. In same order as above, weights are: (a) 123g (b) 149g (c) 140g The only big difference I see, besides instructions printed on the splint, is smell. (a) No smell (b) Slight petrochem smell (c) Slight petrochem smell. B and c come folded. I smoothed them out and rolled them just like the SAM brand. The fact that they were folded did not seem to affect my ability to roll them or form splints into desired shapes.

Great Value, stock up.
These splints were just what I had in mind. I wanted to add splints to a couple of first aid kits, but did not want to spend a lot of money doing it. The quality and build of these seems on par with the name brand splints, and it's likely that nobody would know the difference except for the lack of printing on the splint itself; if you needed splinting who cares! Because I was able to get these affordably, I now have a splint in several kits that I hope to never use. The other alternative was wire splints, and I think this was a much better choice for me and my family. Because I am active in my local CERT program, I also like to keep a larger kit for neighborhood use after a disaster, and this was an affordable way to add splints to that kit as well.

Went into my motorcycle first aid kit
I travel thousands of miles a year on my motorcycle, some times in groups and also alone. This was one of those no-brainer first aid supplies, since it is small enough to fit in my overall kit, and something most people won't have with them that helps in an emergency situation. This is one of those things that are hopefully never needed, but absolutely critical to saving a life if it is required. The cost is minimal enough that everybody should have one of these in their kits. And...learn how to use it properly before the time comes that you must use it.

Exactly what I wanted, at a better price
Seems to be every bit as good as a SAM splint. I bought this to put in my Search and Rescue go-pack as a lower cost alternative to the SAM. The first aid items I carry are for me and our team (we carry additional for the subject) so I knew I wanted something high quality but low cost since I HOPE to never need to use it! This fits the bill well. Will buy again next time I am making up any 1st Aid kit. Buy this one if you don't need a brand name, or a blue side on your splint. Also buy this one if you, like me, want it flat instead of rolled

Great deal for a splint.
Great, cheap alternative to the SAM splint. They're inexpensive enough to keep several of them in my various kits, and they work great. They stand up to multiple uses, too. Not quite as strong as the name brand SAM splints, and the aluminum in them is a little narrower. That said, still perfectly useful for most arms and ankles. Pro tip: these are transparent to x-rays so you can leave them in place when having x-rays taken at the doctor (tested personally).

Great for your car, BOB or treking pack
Very light, this will adopt any shape you want. Keep it with an Israely bandage or something similar inside your BOB, trecking pack or car and hope to never have to use it. Great for those types of terrains where you might get hurt and don't have medical help near by.

packaged nice, moldable and the real deal
I like this product, padding is a little thinner than other products but thats fine since in use you are typically padding affected limb. The packaging of product is also nice since it fits my trama bag really easily without bending or folding. Really a good product and these folks thought about the little things. This is a get them to a hospital product and works for that purpose.

Good quality. An essential item in my first aid kit.
You're taught to be resourceful when providing emergency first aid- keeping an eye open for rigid objects that can conform to an injured limb (branches, pieces of driftwood, etc) are often examples of things you can use as a splint. I first used a similarly styled splint in an advanced first aid class. The splints we used were well used and cut in half (width-wise) since they were long enough to handle most situations (these splints are 36" long). This is a sturdy aluminium splint with just over 1/16" of foam padding on each side (just over 1/8" thickness in total). The aluminium sheet is laminated between the foam pads and is about a half-inch inset from the edges. I'm not worried about the aluminium becoming exposed or becoming "dog-eared" after a few uses. Overall, I'm pleased with this product. The only problem is the "permanent" creases in the aluminium sheet from the packaging process (the whole splint is folded into 4 sections). I understand that this is better suited for storage in a first aid kit, but I still wish it was less of a prominent crease as I fear it'll fail there first.

Versatile tool
This is lightweight but sturdy when moulded . This is exactly the same as it’s more expensive counterpart but just costs a whole lot less . This is designed to deal with bone injuries of the arm or leg. Measure and fold to size . Then bend in on itself to make it rigid . I have used it a few times to treat fractured forearms . Do not cut this to size as this could affect the materials integrity . This is folded and in my IFAK ( individual first aid kit ). It will help out an injured person at ease and make them more comfortable . Before using this, please get first aid training on how to properly use this item. The information mentioned above is for information purposes only and not to substitue any kind of medical training . Assuming the buyer is trained : I recommend this for any and every first aid kit .

Okay
Surprisingly bulky and not extremely light, as expected - neither particularly strong - but will do better than a pair of branches picked from the floor. Just be ready to have some space free to pack it - and flat, so not to bend it accidentally!

well done.
great price and great product. I added them to our family first aid kit - I actually would prefer using these over the more expensive ones. Well done Ever Ready... when I look for other first aid products I'd definitely check out yours first.
