Good buy
This bike rack is great for back of our suv. Allowing us to open the back of suv if needed. (Ford Explorer ) The price is well worth every penny. Very easy adjust and Secure our bikes. Much easier then our older and expensive one which we put to the curb, due to the cumbersome nonsensical maneuvers one had to make to secure the bikes safely. I am five two and maybe 105 pounds and can easily attach to the suv then secure my bikes with out another person Pulling and tugging to help get the bikes right. . It may not be a big deal to some but, to me it is if I can do this myself I would definitely purchase this again. No missing parts . Assembly very easy.

Legit!
I've had this bike rack for months now but I was able to truly test this rack this past weekend. Two bikes were on the rack for 10 hours, including a 7.5-hour drive. One bike weighs around 41 lbs. The other around 40 lbs. The dips on the roads had me concerned the main bar which you connect to the hitch receiver might bend due to the weight of both bikes, the motion it absorbs from all the driving, and the hours it had to hold the bikes in a moving vehicle. When I got home, nothing was wrong with the rack. It's still as sturdy as ever. Kudos to an excellent product!

A good looking, lockable bike rack.
I'm replacing a similar Swagman rack. This one looks sturdier and better designed. It has built in locks for the rack and for the bikes which were not on the Swagman. It's still new so I can't give it a final rating but it looks promising. There are a few things that will keep it from earning 5 stars. The assembly instructions are less than great and missing at least one step. It sticks out unnecessarily far from the vehicle, and the 2" hitch adapter seems a bit flimsy.

Great value; poor directions! Lock won't fit BMW x7 hitch
Some of the poorest written assembly directions I've seen... take a little while to figure out but not too many pieces to assemble. Well made for the money buy the lock will not work with the factory hitch that comes with the BMW SUV's

it works, but could be improved
easy to load :-) the lock tumbler came out of one of the retainers !!! :-( the relative location of through bolt hole in the stem that plugs in to the receiver leads to it flopping around more than is necessary, so I drilled a new 1/2” thru-hole and relocated the captive nut, now its much better the threaded thru-bolt is a problem, the threads are getting damage far too quickly, we have only used this carrier six times so far.

nice bike rack but hitch lock does not work.
Nice bike rack but lock does not work. This is a nice bike rack, I would give it 5 stars if lock worked The lock for the hitch screw does not work. The ones for the bikes does.

Very happy
Great rack. Easy to install, easy to put bikes on, very sturdy. Love the locking feature. This rack is as good or better than racks that cost twice as much.

Good looking a lockable bike rack
This bike rack is easy to put two bikes on and off the vehicle. I like the way the locking pin keeps the whole rack from being removed. The arms that slide down onto the bicycle is strong and secure. I could stop and leave bikes unattended for a while without worry.

You get what you pay for
My initial review was based on initial assembly and installation of the bike rack. After 1 road trip tbis summer, I have to do a 180 and change my review. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. On the way back home from the cabin this summer, the only time I used this bike carrier since buying it, I was freaked out that it was going to break and we'd lose our bikes. We stopped at a rest area on the Trans Canada, and when I returned to the car, things didn't look right. You can see from the first photo that the rack was leaning away from the car. Upon closer inspection I could see the shaft was deformed at the elbow. You can also see that it is not overloaded as it has just 1 adult bike and 1 child bike. When I got home I put a caliper on the shaft. You can see it's the correct 1.25" at the reciever, but is bulged out to 1.4" at the elbow. I also hung a plumb off the vertical shaft and you can see how much off plumb it is. Amazon should be ashamed for having this as one of their choice products. I will contact the seller to see if they will provide a refund.

Great concept, but execution a little lacking
Our older first generation non-locking version of this Sportrack rack model, which worked really well and was so easy for my wife and I to load and unload our hybrid bikes onto, finally bit the dust after 15 years, so we decided to upgrade to this newer locking version. It’s a solid rack and I really liked the idea of the locking hooks, but it turns out that they, in conjunction with the newer style of wheel trays (the old ones were flat) may make it awkward or perhaps even impossible for loading some taller-frame bikes. In my case, my Specialized Crossroads 22” hybrid won’t load easily like other bikes in the instructional videos I’ve watched, even on the outside trays. (I haven’t tried loading my bike on the vehicle side of the post where it is supposed to go, being the heavier of our two bikes, because I’m afraid of damaging the car in what could end up being a futile effort to get it to fit on that side of the rack.) This is because the upper arm doesn’t go up quite high enough to permit my frame, which has a gently curving sloped profile along the top section, to get underneath it and allow both wheels into their trays unless I tilt the whole bike back towards me first, then set the front wheel in its tray before slipping the frame underneath the arm and finally setting the back wheel into place. To get it off I have to do the exact reverse. I’ve gotten used to this routine and it’s a pretty quick and simple go-around, but it is necessary in the case of my bike because, unlike the non-locking version of this rack, the lockable arms don’t slip up the center post beyond a certain point and cannot be removed from the post. An alternative approach I tried was to flip the wheel trays upside down, which made it a snap to load the bike the normal way and felt stable enough to be an option one could consider, although I’m sure the manufacturer wouldn’t approve. So, if you have a men’s bike frame that’s tall, it might be a good idea to try this rack out somewhere before you buy, or consider the non-locking version. Another issue that I never had with my previous rack is that when I’m driving and there’s no bike on it (i.e, the rack is folded up vertically) the wheel trays tend to slip down their shaft no matter how much it seems that I tighten their knobs, often making it necessary to re-align them again to fit our bikes, which is annoying. Tightened hard, the knobs could be quite difficult to loosen for someone with an injured arm or weak wrists. Note that bikes tend to rock a bit on this type of rack when being driven, so try to secure the rubberized hooks down tight on your bike frame to avoid abrasive rubbing between the rubber of the hook and your bike frame because, depending on the quality of the bike factory's paint job, over time your paint will probably wear off on that spot as it has on one of our bikes. Be aware that to get full access to the rear of a vehicle you have to remove the bikes and then swing the vertical post down to a horizontal position. However, If your vehicle's back window opens, you may be able to access the back of your vehicle through that window without removing the bikes, or perhaps by just removing the one bike closest to the car. I have a crossover vehicle with a hatch-style rear window that I can open fully with both bikes still on the rack. I find the pin setup that allows you to fix the wings in place (either opened or folded up) can be a bit annoying to deal with in the dark of night in terms of getting the pins to line up in their respective holes, especially if the plastic sleeve that lines the inside of the receptacle area has moved out of alignment, which it does on ours on occasion. Note, too, that all three pins this rack utilizes are attached to the rack by very thin stranded wire protected by an extremely thin plastic sheath, which isn’t very durable. So be careful during assembly not to scrape the plastic. One of mine was already damaged when I opened the box and kudos to the company I bought the rack from through Amazon who got a replacement sent out to me immediately for no charge. If a wire should ever break, you can also buy a replacement pin on Sportrack’s site, but to be truthful the wire isn’t absolutely necessary because the pins themselves seem secure once they are set in place. Overall I like the rack. The design concept is neat and it is relatively easy to assemble. Pretty good value for the money, too. While there is a contact phone number for info or parts, be advised that Thule bought Sportrack a while back and, to paraphrase one representative I spoke with, it isn’t treated as a high-priority part of their catalogue.

Hoping the quality holds up
I'm very glad to see the locking design for both the hitch receiver and the frame hooks; saved me a lot of having to buy additional locks. The metal frame looks in good quality. One concern is that the hoops for the bike wheels don't have built-in stops at the end of the side arms. You can just pull them off the end easily. While it's unlikely anyone would want to steal just those hoops, it's possible. Another concern is the locks themselves. Even brand new, the key is a bit of a rough fit for each lock and they are on the cheaper end. Hopefully they hold up to weather and continued use. Very good features for the price, however.

The quality of this product is not good.
I do not recommend this bike rack. Initially, I was very exited to buy it. I did not have any problem with the delivery and assembling. However when I mounted the rack to the hitch, I mentioned that the vertical tilting column sways back and forth. Not sure if it is bad design or if the holes for pin, that allows tilting are not properly sized/located. When you install the bikes, the bikes sway too. Anyway, after I used the rack literally 4 times, the lock( that comes with it) and secures the hitch bolt, broke and refused to work. Now I cannot use it the rack all, because it does not look safe to drive like that.

Easy assembly, looking great. NOT TESTED YET THOUGH
I have seen the rack out and about and just installed it myself. So far I can only comment on the assembly and overall appearance. The rack comes with a hitch lock and locks on the hooks that hold the frame in place. The hitch lock is pretty much useless as the rack is screwed in the hitch receiver with 2 easily accessible screws which when removed you can take the whole rack with the bikes minus the receiver. Also if you tilt the vertical stick backwards you can slide the bikes out of the tires rests so that also makes these locks kinda useless. Other than that the rack was easy to assemble if you have the right nuts and it looks well made. I will update this review after using it on a trip if there is a negative experience.
