Delta's Premium Rain Shower Head

This single setting raincan shower head is made from solid brass and has a heavy and durable feel to it. I am reviewing the Stainless Steel version but it is also available in Delta's other premium finishes: - Chrome 52158 - Matte Black 52158-BL - Champaign Bronze 52158-CZ - Polished Nickel 52158-PN - Venetian Bronze 52158-RB It is a large sized head measuring 11-3/4" in diameter and 1/2" in thickness. If you count the ball joint and mount it is 2-3/8" thick. It produces a luxurious water flow while saving on water use. It is rated at a maximum 1.75 gpm @ 80 psi. As the specifications state the ball joint swivels 36 degrees from the standard 1/2"-14 NPT connector. It fits a standard sized shower arm. I like this type of rain can much better than the thicker ones that hold more water in them and drip for longer periods of time after the water has been turned off. This one shuts down pretty quickly and thus allows you to squeegee the shower down right away, or start drying off in the shower if you do either of those things. The spray can be described as a soft rain spray. And that is exactly what it is. I would check your water pressure at the shower as it does best with water pressure higher than 65 psi. Delta recommends against using abrasive cleansers. Simply wiping down with a wet cloth then drying with a soft dry cloth is all that is needed. I would say that the Brilliance finish does indeed provide for a surface that only requires this minimal kind of cleaning. There is another version of this shower head available that goes by the model number 52158SS-25 that has more nozzles and puts out 2.5 gpm @ 80 psi. It doesn't meet the EPA WaterSense rating and may not be allowed in certain States. Be sure to check with you local municipality if your building new construction. It also requires much more water flow with its 144 nozzles. It is best in a ceiling mounted position because if on a wall mounted angled position it may not utilize all 144 nozzles with the upper nozzles not spraying at all. That is why I would recommend this lower nozzle count version especially if you are planning on using it at an angle. This is a premium ceiling or wall mounted raincan head that is available in all 6 of Delta's main finishes. Expensive and luxurious. With easy clean surface and nozzles it doesn't disappoint. The "soft rain spray" has been precisely engineered and it is one of the best feeling rain shower heads I have had the opportunity to test. Very nice. 5 stars.

So beautiful but flow is finicky

This is a LOT larger than I anticipated and that’s a good thing because at first glance, it is costly so it makes a little more sense as to why (but not totally). This is huge, made of brass and heavy and that is what contributes to the listing amount. Is it worth it? It depends on a couple things with one being very, very much subjective. This is a beautiful shower head but it will not work in an optimal way if you don’t hook it up the way it is designed; with the head directly over the top and horizontal so it can sort of “rain” down on you. It will work somewhat as a “normal” shower head but it won’t flow too well with it not being flat above you. You’ve got to have a setup installed to allow it to sit like that or purchase the arm as it is not included. I’d have imagined at this cost it would’ve been included but that was incorrect of me. Pros: Beautiful Well made Classic design Outstanding material quality/luxurious Flow is good in correct position Cons: Cost prohibitive Requires separate arm purchase More of a “niche” shower head Cost (so much so I feel the need to mention twice) Won’t work perfectly as a “regular” shower head Overall, this is very much a case in which beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the value associated with it is in the same boat. If you’ve been looking for a very well-made rain type shower head that looks beautiful in a contemporary way, I’d suggest taking a peek but if you aren’t in that very specific market, I’d keep browsing. This is beautiful and great but it’s not cheap in any sense of the word

Beautiful fixture. Gentle stream.

Gorgeous shower head. It's 12 inches wide and a complete "WOW!" in a bathroom. However, I like more of a powerful stream of water than this unit provides. It's very gentle and soothing. With no way to increase water flow. I ended up putting it in our kid's bathroom and getting one with a stronger spray in my b.room. This shower head is polished chrome and wipes clean with no smudge or fingerprints left behind. The little nubs are easy to wipe down too. This took less than 5 minutes to install-just needed some teflon tape.

Looks great, although it puts out a more gentle spray than a standard shower head

This is a gorgeous Delta raincan faucet, which I used to replace my Moen faucet. One thing I was not expecting, is that this is a really big faucet head. I did not realize how big it was going to be until it arrived, so definitely check the dimensions. It works much better in a shower where it is directly overhead than one where the shower head attaches to the wall and sprays down at an angle. It is also pretty heavy. It is advertised as using "20% less water than the industry standard." Normally I am not a fan of shower heads that conserve water, but even at a 20% reduction, this puts out a nice stream of water, although it is a bit noticeable that it is lower pressure than my previous one or a "traditional" shower head. The chrome finish looks great. Time will tell if it is truly mold and buildup-resistant, but after a couple months of use I see no sign of any buildup around the nozzles.

Beautiful fixture

Good: This is big! Be sure to calculate the added size and weight. It’s beautiful seeing the water come down like rain. Great water pressure and we have well water. We didn’t realize how cheap looking our last shower fixture was until we got this one. Bad: We needed to get additional attachments. I am short, husband is tall. After the install, fingerprints were difficult to clean. We should have got one of these years ago. We have a well with low water pressure. The shower fixtures we have tried claiming to be high pressure have failed. I expected this one to trickle or have partial empty water flow throughout the many holes. Not the case!

A spa experience can be yours!

This can turn an ordinary shower into a spa experience! Easy to install and clean - it really makes showering a pleasure - great for those who wash their hair when they shower. Very pleased with this shower head.
