Real thing but inconsistent foam firmness
Out of the 50 I received, 45 were very firm and as good or better than the originals that came with the Skilz pitching machine. 4 were noticeably softer but still firm enough but won't fly as straight or as fast (makes for a good changeup). There was one sad fellow though that was so spongy (like a promotional stress squeezy toy) as to be unusable. If all 50 were that soft I'd be giving them a one star rating too, but 1 out of 50 is acceptable. My boys will have lost most of them by the end of baseball season anyway.

Great to take anywhere
This soft balls are awesome, we take them everywhere so my kid can be always throwing. We use those in pre-games given the ballpark doesn’t allow the kids to be playing with baseballs out of the field, those keep them entertained and warmed after the batting warm-up without any risky to damage property or injuries.

They’re different material
There’s a reason the 50 pack is so much cheaper per ball. They’re not the same balls. They’re softer. And this matters a TON in this type of pitching machine because they don’t pitch nearly as far. The dozen REAL balls that come with the machine are harder when you squish them in your hand and they compress less. They’re a bit brighter yellow color and less smooth, more like rubber, and because they’re more firm they shoot further when the spinning wheels of the machine grab them. The 50 count bucket of balls that you can buy is probably the culprit when it comes to many of the bad reviews. The balls out of the bucket being softer will fly about 3-5 feet shorter and land in front of the batter. After the first use, once they’re all mixed together, this will become the nightmare of inaccurate pitching that some people are describing. So I would recommend you either keep the 50 count bucket and not use the original 12 balls that come with the machine, and just have a slower pitch speed, or buy the extra 12 packs that cost over double per ball, as perhaps they’re the same as the original balls.

Bucket contained 45 balls
Just received my bucket today. When I opened the delivery box, the bucket was open and missing 5 balls.

Great Batting practice tool!
I love the SKLZ Bolt pitching machine. It functions well indoors in my basement, as well as outdoors when there is mild or no wind. The only problem is you will lose a few balls over time, and this is a great way to get that machine stocked so you can take BP for a much more enjoyable time. These balls are yellow and slightly easier to see than the white ones that came with the pitching machine. Even my 7 year old daughter can make contact using these, making this a really fun dad/daughter activity. I would recommend these to anyone who owns a SKLZ pitching machine, or as something to buy along with an SKLZ pitching machine purchase because it will prevent you from a limited supply of balls as you eventually start to lose/misplace them indoors. Check out the SKLZ pitching machine if you like to take a little BP indoors. I have never broken anything by using these balls inside. They are very soft.

Perfect for working on timing
My husband plays MSBL and need to constantly work on his hitting/timing. Going to the cages was expensive and many times the pitches were way off. He can take this to a park and swing away for 1-2 hours and get his timing down and work on his swing. All it cost him now is time. To adjust for speed he just sets the machine up closer for faster and further for slower. Windy days provide him with lateral movement of pitches. The Batteries he uses are re-chargable and they hold up nicely for 2+ hours.

Not sure where everyone is saying these are different balls?
I got the machine last week, have had sklz bolt balls in a tube for the last year for soft toss. The bucket I just purchased has the same firm feel as the ones that came with the machine. Very pleased with my purchase of both the machine and balls.

Awesome!
Well constructed practice balls. My daughter’s used them for some indoor batting practice during quarantine and loved hitting the crap out of them! They’re foam so no damage done! They used them with the lightning stick we also bought from Amazon and the combination was really great for working on their eye-hand coordination.

Not as advertised.
Really disappointed with the quality of these. You basically have to order these to go with the SKLZ Lightning bolt unit so you have a decent amount of balls. These replacement balls are not the same quality as the ones that come with the unit. They are smaller so the collection tube doesn't pick them up (like the picture in the listing shows!) and they are made of a much less dense foam so they do not shoot out of the machine properly. I contacted SKLZ but never heard anything back. Amazon's great return policy is being used to ship us a new container and we hope they wont be misshaped etc. like this container was. It appears others have experienced the same quality control issues.

Inconsistent Quality & Operate SIGNIFICANTLY Different Then Originals
Had read the previous reviews that the replacement balls were not of the same quality / ‘hardness’ as the originals. As soon as our bucket of 50 arrived I sorted through them just by squeezing them. Was immediately able to sort out 13 balls that were noticeably softer than the others...one of these as SUPER SOFT. I kept the original balls that came with machine, and new balls all separate. I then ran the sorted balls through the machine. The 37 ran fine. I was able to use 5 of the 13 questionable balls as ‘change up balls’, but ALL of the 13 SIGNIFICANTLY operated / flew less then the others. I then ran the original balls through...WOW...if the 37 good balls from the bucket are regular ‘85mi/hr’ pitches, the original balls that came with the Bolt are 100mi/h fast balls. Really surprising that SKZL quality is Sssooo all over the place. I have mixed them in together now. My daughter now has to adjust to ‘crazy speed fastball’, normal pitch, and the odd ‘change up’. - REALLY disappointed with SKZL’s quality. Didn’t bother reaching out to SKZL’s to try and get the 13 replaced, as others haven’t had much success on that front from what I have seen.

Easy to Find
Great for finding in the grass. Nice and bright, and they stand out well. Also very nicely designed so they don't hurt when your hit with them off the bat. They hit very nicely. If you can hit the mini balls, then you will have no issues hitting baseballs.
