small issue with construction
These are what I expected based upon a year of walking in Skechers :5 pair of shoes (2 stilll in use), 2 pair of boots (both active), 7200 miles of walking mostly on roads and some trail, all year including NNY winter. There was a serious issue with a fold at the gusset-fold/top-of-lace-panel intersection that put serious pressure on the upper instep bone of my left foot. I had to use a razor knife to remove the top of the fold (the issue appeared after 20 perfect and trouble free miles on the first walk). The problem has been resolved, but the fold seems to have been poorly designed.Addendum to my comment above: I have used 3 pair of these shoes (almost exclusively on-road) from March to December this year. I just discarded my first pair after approximately 1500 miles (dependent upon repairs to the heel I designed myself). I used them for off road and muck when I stopped walking the roads with them.The second pair is about to be tossed with roughly the same mileage. The third pair will take me into the first month of serious winter at least. They aren't the highest quality shoes I have ever owned, and when they start to wear out the uppers degrade quickly, but approximately 4500 miles on roads with 3 pair of shoes is truly remarkable. I have been at this for 2 decades, and these are the most durable shoes I have ever had (for essentially $45 per pair). The increasing price is a disappointment to me, but the shoes are worth it.

Durability
My husband is a trim carpenter and is on his feet 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. He's rough on shoes!! He will find shoes on sale that he thinks he will like, but they never last more than 6 months. We always come back to these. These are THE only ones we have found that he can wear for 13 months without wearing a whole in the bottom of the rubber sole or the stiching doesn't rip oppen. Good quality shoes!

Waterproof
I have bought numerous boots/shoes who stated that they were waterproof. All were not as advertised. These boots are just what I have been looking for., They fit, are comfortable and most important they are water proof. I wear them every day in every type of weather and they are GREAT. I can't say enough about them. Would I buy them again: in a heart beat.

Better than expected
I have not had these for long at all. I can tell they are alot better than my last pair of shoes. They looked the exact same as these. Where the exact same price. These ones are water proof, look better, feel more comfy, quality seems better. They blow my last pair of shoes out of the water. Anyways we will see how long they last. I will try to remember to update this review in a year from now.
