Don't think, just get it.... NOW!
I had 3 sprinkler heads blow off the risers. Should have seen it coming, the system was installed almost 20 years ago. Anyway, I used to be a mechanic and a carpenter, so I have A LOT of tools. Used a pair or needlenose pliers on one and regular pliers on another and got two of the risers to come out. The 3rd one, well, it was just in there and it was dug in. It'd made itself at home. But, it disintegrated just touching it with my fingers. It was NOT going to come out. Went thru everything possible in my tool box. No joy. As usual, went to my go-to shopping site, Amazon and did a search for sprinkler head extractor. Lots of choices then I stumbled across this miracle. I was desperate, so I paid a couple of extra bucks to get it delivered same day. I was shaking when I opened the package....would it work? My initial thought was, man, this thing is REALLY good quality for such a low price. Well packaged and VERY well made. So I excitedly screwed the 1/2" extractor onto the T-Handle. Hmmmmm, very nice fit, tightened up nicely. Grabbed my gloves and headed for the offending riser. Less than 20 seconds later, I was screwing in the new sprinkler head. This tool didn't break a sweat. It dug into the riser and out it came with ease. This tool now occupies the KING spot in my sprinkler system tool box. Don't think, just GET it!

Great value, great quality for the money. Can extract rotor bodies with a special attachement
Great tool for the money! Will extract rotor bodies with an adapter, . when nothing else will (unless you spend $100 for something you are only going to use a couple times). The two heads are aluminum and sharp but these will not replace similar tools for plumbing (have to be steel). There is a trick I used to extract larger pipes and rotor bodies.. Using a hole saw, I make a 1 1/2" plug (the interior diameter of the rotor head bodies I use, from a piece of cedar (cedar will swell with water and work even better). I then drilled a 3/4" hole in the center of the plug. I sanded the edges of the plug to make a beve for a very tight fit (although I don't think this is necessary)l. Then, to extract a rotor head tube, I merely placed the plug firmly into rotor tube, stuck this tool into the 3/4" center of the plug, and then holding down for a good grip, turned the handle to extract the rotor tube. Worked absolutely perfectly and my rotor tubes were very tight. You can buy a tool to do this for $85 or more but I can't imagine it working better.or faster. If the plug wears out jack make another in a few minutes! I could probably sell the plug as a special attachment!

Works great
I used to extract the remains of a broken plastic plug from the hot water heater in our travel trailer. It worked great, easy to do. Better than trying to cut out with knife or hacksaw blade.

Fits a 1/2" socket
The T handle was useless for the two broken risers that I needed to extract. There was no way I could put enough turning force to extract it. Fortunately, the top of the business end is hexagonal and fit a 1/2" socket. The fit was a bit loose, but it is too big for a 12mm socket (1/2" is 12.7mm). So with a socket wrench and a 10" extension the first one I tried came out easily. It had been sitting in the ground for at least 6 months. The other one had been buried for at least 10 years. It was considerably more difficult to remove but after trying it at different angles I was eventually successful. Getting enough bite into the hard smooth plastic was the hard part. If changing the angle hadn't been successful I probably would have heated the tool with a propane torch to melt it into the plastic a bit. I'm glad I didn't have to do that, but I saw a demo on YouTube doing the extraction with a heated knife. The tool is no doubt more effective and safer.

Works Well with a Socket Wrench
Like the other reviewers, found the “T” handle to be ineffective. Only worked with a socket wrench where you can get more force and torque. Also recommend giving a light tap on the socket extension to get the bit to dig into the fitting. The vendor should sell only the bits and forget the “T” handle.

Must have tool!
My sprinter nipple broke about 8 inches under the ground. Searched YouTube for ideas as I was going to dig big hole to get access or get a professional come and do the repair. Thankfully YouTube saved the day and my money! This tool paid for itself in 1 minute! Highly recommended if you have a sprinkler system.
