Potential Choking Hazard

I loved this for my daughter for price and comfort with braces but this is the second guard I’ve purchased and both, after probably less than 20 wears, began to split. You can see from the one photo that a full section came off and had that happened during play it could have choked her. I was hoping the first was a fluke but with the second doing the same, it unfortunately appears to be a quality issue.

Great Protection and Highly recommend for any sport being played

One day after purchasing for my 8 year daughter she was accidentally kicked in the face during her BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) class. No blood, no injury and I know for a fact had she not been wearing this, she'd definitely have been injured. It takes getting used to as the first couple of times she was salivating/drooling (not a good look for a little girl) a lot and complained that she couldn't breathe. I explained she has no choice since she has braces now etc... It's been a month now since purchasing and used during every class- 1) no more complaints, 2) no more drooling lol!, 3) Zero injuries and most importantly 4) she can breathe and fight like she normally does; so no impairment on her performance. She realizes the importance and doesn't hesitate wearing it nor forgets to bring due to the clip. Note: she has a palette expander and braces yet fits lovely.

These work great for what they are but since I have a ...

I've had these for over 6 months now and have a love/hate relationship with them. These work great for what they are but since I have a smaller mouth, I had to cut a bit of the top from the inner section off to fit my mouth. After that, it worked great. I'm a pretty small women 5'1" and grind my teeth horribly and with braces it was hard to find something that would fit me but these are great.

Works well

My daughter just got braces and plays softball so we needed a guard for her. We did have to cut it since she has an appliance in her mouth. She is 11 years old and I think we should have ordered the larger size. Overall it did it’s job and worked for her.

That thing does not hold on at all (even though I got a kid size). It will kinda grab the braces but when you try to speak it comes out, also it's very hard to breathe in it cos it's soft and when you close your mouth there's no space for air to go through. The double one is a bit better because it has those bumps that really grab onto the brackets and hold on even when you move your mouth. The downside is it's huge and impossible to speak clearly with it. I jeard that some people just cut the double in half and make a good fitting single that way. I personally think that the opro ortho gold is a lot better for a person with braces. Though will have to see how long it will fit as my teeth move. Also I emailed shock doctor and they said that they are developing a boil and bite for braces and it will be available in 2013. Can't wait. For now I'll stick to opro

Orthodontic savior!

My 6 year old LOVES it. She recently had a palate space placed and has rubber band hooks along her gum-line, high in nature, as well as a metal plate over her palate. This mouth guard is the only one that we've found that covers the hooks, as well as not interfering with the metal plate. She wears it to jiujitsu and riding her dirt bike and has no issues breathing around it. Great for orthodontics!

For young kids

We purchased this for our 10 year old - it is far too small for a child this age. I could see no where in the description that this was more than likely for 5-8 age group which seems young for braces? I'm sure it would work great just much too small for our 10 year old

They fit better than regular mouth guards for those athletes with braces, BUT not as well as we'd hoped for. Quick shipping & great company/seller to work with, my only complaint is on fit. On that note** most athletes claim no mouth guard really works well with braces**

Expensive but great for braces wearers

I bought this for my daughter, who is 8 and has braces on the top jaw. It works perfectly and she finds it very comfortable. Not sure how durable it is, she plays hockey 3 times a week and is ready to be changed after 2 months.

Best guard for braces

Purchased this for my son who has braces. After trying at least a dozen other brands that failed, this did the trick. Sits flush, doesn’t cause any choking and is comfortable. Works with high impact sports. Great purchase

Doesn’t work - waste of money!

Awful product. Doesn’t work. What a waste of money! Once you establish that it just falls out of your child’s mouth, you cannot send it back due to contamination reasons. Unless of course I can?.
