Best hand vac!!

I have 2 indoor cats and stairs, and have been looking for years for a really good handvac. I’ve tried so many and they all wind up in the trash. I am so happy because Shark nailed it on this one!! The battery operated ones were weak and didn’t run long enough between charges, others either didn’t have the brush or the suction was poor. Quite a few didn’t have interchangeable attachments. The suction on this one is great and it’s cut my time down significantly. Doing the stairs is so easy now with the brush and wand. I was concerned it was going to be too heavy or big from the pictures, but it’s perfect. I spent so many years looking for a handvac that works this well that I’m thinking of buying another as a back up in case this one ever stops working. I know I sound like a paid ad, but I was so tired of the work and time it took and the others never really did the job I wanted, so I’m beyond thrilled to have given this one a shot. Oh, and… I actually vacuumed my furniture with my last one first and then used this one and it made me realize just how poor it was because this one sucked up a surprising amount more.

When you need a corded hand-held vacuum with powerful suction - this is the one!

I needed a corded hand-held vacuum to replace an older major brand name corded hand-held which is no longer manufactured. There are lots of cordless vacuums available, but those are not what I wanted. I had previously purchased a Shark Vertex H2002 upright vacuum and I was impressed by the powerful suction. This Shark HH202 vacuum seems to be very similar in design but without the unneeded floor attachment. It has the same very powerful suction. It was an easy buying decision.

MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC

Cons: The overall product is poor quality. The plastic is brittle and cracks and breaks with non abusive use. The pieces of the product separate: The roller extension has a top and bottom plastic housing which separated and will not line up to snap in place. The spring under the release button for the dust t reservoir came out and cannot be put back underneath the release button. Pros: The motor sounds strong and appears to have good suction. The low rating for this product is due to the cheap brittle plastics used to construct this product. Have used this product approximately six times.

Powerful suction

Oh my gosh does this thing have powerful suction! I was really surprised. The motor and dustbin are about the same size as my cordless stick vacuum. I was a little surprised by how big it is when I first saw it. But then I started using it and was blown away by the performance. It is corded, which is a pro and a con. I don’t have to worry about it running out of juice. I do need to be near an outlet, so that can make it more difficult to reach certain areas, if not impossible (for instance, like my car). It does have a fairly long cord though. It also has a nice cord wrap for when you are not using it. Lastly, the location of the cord gets in the way of where I hold it while I am using it, so that is something that I would change if I could. It has a pretty large dustbin, but I can fill it up quickly. There are a couple of other things that I would change if I could. I would love an extension to be be able to reach high, hard to reach spots. I have to get up on a stepladder to reach something like my bathroom vents. Also, I would really like to have a brush attachment. You can order it, but I think that for this price that it should come with it. Other than the couple of things that I would change if I could, it is a great vacuum. With the brand name of Shark, I also expect it to hold up well for years.

Wow, this thing really sucks! In a good way though

First, let me get past the negatives, from my perspective. I really thought it would be smaller than in actually is. With the brush head on, it's around 21 inches and even longer with the crevice tool. They say it's only three pounds, which it may be, but due to the size it feels heaver to me. The good thing, and what makes it really nice, is it's suction power. It really is strong. I ordered this vacuum for two purposes- vacuuming out the cars and dealing with my fireplace. I burn firewood all winter. My living room has carpeting that runs up to and a bit under the stone hearth. All kinds of stuff gets in front of or between the carpet and hearth. The full sized vacuum just doesn't get that stuff sucked out easily. I generally have to use my hand to pull it away from the hearth and suck it up. It was particularly filled with junk from this winter as I really wasn't motivated to work on it. I thought that would be a good test for this hand held. I only got half way across the front of the hearth until the sound of the vacuum changed. I first thought something got sucked up that was clogging the input nozzle (not sure what it's actually called). I hadn't even pothered to use the crevice tool. It wasn't something stuck. It had sucked so much out, I suppose a lot came out from under the stone hearth, that it needed to be emptied. That's when I decided it was a winner. Oh, before I forget, I tried the self-cleaning power brush before I emptied it to see if it would work. It didn't turn the brush. I'm not sure why they call it a power brush as the power comes from the suction of the vac. Once I emptied out the vac and cleaned the stuff off the filter, the brush ran great. Anyway, the vacuum was getting to stuff that the house vac and my cleaning away what I could see hadn't been touched sincethe fireplace had been upgraded, about eight years ago. I'm a fan of Shark as we currently have two- a canister that I bought a number of years ago and an upright that came from the home of a friend that passed a few months ago. The price of this handheld is a bit stiff but if you have a need for getting into difficult places, it just might be worth it to you. I'm sure it will be good in the cars once the winter ends.
