Cheap alternative to expensive iron sets

2020 UPDATE: I bought this in 2017! It still looks like the day I bought it. I've had to wash it once and it's held up well! Definitely worth the price I paid. You cant expect a heavy wrought iron set for the price. At my local store, comparable sets still ran around $40-$65. Its a light weight metal, not iron. I'm not entirely sure what the material is, but the shovel has enough thick metal support that it isn't bending or anything. I regularly use the poker to move logs around and its held up great! Some reviewers had mentioned quality control (like crooked hooks). I didn't experience any of this myself. You do have to assemble it, but it was only 2 screws. Super easy.

Great set!

I really liked the clean look of this set especially since it didn’t have “feet” or a clawed bottom which would wobble on my tile hearth. It’s somewhat compact (huge plus) and has what I need to get the job done. (Note: it does not have the tong tool which I don’t need) Seems durable enough to last awhile for me. Looks great on my hearth! See pics

Value for the price

Upfront: - Incredibly easy to put together - Basic attractive - sturdy for the price - Doing the job My fireplace insert is in use perhaps 16 hours/day and covers a lot of the house heating. Rather than having tools haphazardly on the floor, now I have an attractive holder with the tools that I need. Only a month of use so far but tools are holding their own and are more than up to the job.

I really like the simple design and the slight arch at the top of the holder. This follows the line of my kiva fire place. This meets my needs; I don't have big fires fed by large pieces of wood. This set would be inappropriate for that sort of use. But for the occasional small fire or a "duraflame night" it's adequate. Hence the 3 stars on sturdiness. For the price, I hope that nobody out there is expecting hand forged iron. This is not that. It's attractive and is up to the job for which it was built.

Good set for the money

I wanted a small (3 pc) fireplace set that would just fade into the background and not stand out as I have other things near my fireplace I want people to notice. This fits the bill perfectly. The tools do the job, are sturdy enough for small fires and the price was great. Its not unattractive, its just very plain which is exactly what I wanted.

Nice quality. It exceeds what I was expecting at the price. Nice heavy duty feel and works well in practical use. We have three fireplaces with a much more expensive set for one of our other fireplaces that is no better quality than this one. Maybe not as fancy aesthetically speaking as some of the more expensive sets, but it has a nice quality, albeit basic look. I would certainly recommend this set, especially for the price!

Best deal for the money

It's a little light, not a heavy duty fireplace toolset, but it fantastic for the money. It's sturdy and everything came as described. The complaints about the broom melting on hot coals... why not wait for the coals to cool down? I use this the morning after a fire to clean up from the night before. Never had any problems.

Basic set of tools

Nothing fancy here, just a basic set of tools. They work well. The broom arrived slightly damaged (pls take a look at the picture posted by another reviewer - mine was in better shape). Good buy on sale, a bit expensive at regular price.

The brush is small bristles bent and falling out.

The rest of the unit is fine but the “brush” tool really falls short. It is small and bent up. Many of the bristles just are falling out. Disappointing.
