Works Great! Much Better than the "Butterfly" Types.
I purchased this “Dream Baby Sliding Doors & Window Lock” to keep a 2-year old toddler from opening the sliding closet doors to the walk-in closet in her bedroom. She tends to get into that closet and make a mess when she’s supposed to be taking a nap or going to sleep in the evening. I previously tried using a different brand of latch that is white plastic with butterfly wings that can be pushed down to open the closet door. I thought I liked it, at first, but I finally gave up on that brand for two reasons: It could not be temporarily disabled and the adhesive was not strong enough. I could probably have found better adhesive, but the first problem made me look for a different solution. The reason: Since it’s a walk-in closet, I sometimes go inside and shut the sliding door behind me. With the butterfly type of door stop, I can’t close the door all the way or I’ll be locked in. Maybe it’s lucky that the adhesive isn’t that good, because I did that one time. “Forcing” the door back open turned out to be a non-issue. I could have done it with one finger. The “butterfly” popped right off and fell to the floor. In case you wonder, I did prep the surfaces very well by cleaning with isopropyl alcohol and drying with a lint-free cloth before bonding the adhesive. I also allowed it to “cure” for 24-hours before using it, as stated in the installation instructions. Thankfully, this “Dream Baby Sliding Doors & Window Lock” resolves BOTH of the issues I had with the previous lock. It sticks extremely well and it has a feature allowing it to easily be temporarily disabled in order to use the door without a stop when necessary. HINT: I have found that it’s best to mount the stop in such a way that there is no slop or “free-play” between the stop and the end of the door. If there is any free-play, it allows a child to open the slider enough to get fingers in there, then be able to pull much harder against the stop. It also allows them to give the door a quick yank before it hits the stop, thus allowing the door to have a small running start before engaging the stop. That gives much higher probability that the lock will fail. Some reviewers have stated that the pin used for disengaging the lock pulls right out. I don’t know if they got lemons, or if they just have gorilla-grip fingers, but I have not experienced any problem with the pin. I would not call the pin robust, but it works exactly as it should when treated with a bit of respect and dignity. It operated very easily, so there is no need to yank on it. Based on my personal experience with this slider lock, I can recommend it without hesitation. 5-stars.

No more broom handle in the door track!
Review of the Dream Baby Sliding Doors & Window Lock I don't use this to partially open the door; I use it as a child safety lock and as an added security feature. You have to put it at the edge of the door for it not open when it's in use. This solved the problem of the annoying broom handle in the door track for me! The latch feels like it is on there pretty good. It gives me a little more sense of safety and security for my sliding door. One of these type of latches were already installed on the sliding door when I moved into my home but it didn't have a pull out pin like this one…. that pin makes a huge difference. It helps it to stay up since without it you could wiggle the door until it flipped down or my kids would use the mop or broom to just push it down (not very safe or secure). I have found that this latch sticks very well. Just make sure the clean the surface prior to attaching it and let it dry, of course. You have to apply pressure to the latch for a good 30-60 seconds to make sure it secures, nice and tight. After that, don’t use it for at least a day, two days are preferable. -- I have had this installed for a few months now and I have not had any issues. Thanks for reading my review. I hope this is helpful to you.

Work as I expected
I put these on all my sliding doors and windows for a bit of extra security. I'm in honduras, and they haven't figured out how to mount windows and glass doors properly. The sliding parts are on the outside (meaning i can not put a stick in the track. I put one of these on the top and bottom of all my doors and windows. I cleaned them good, and let the window dry. I placed them on the glass firmly, and rubbed them with pressure for about 30 seconds to work any bubbles out and ensure it had seated well. I did not use them for 48 hours as per directions. I've given them a good yank, and they seem to hold fine. these at the very least will stop somoene from getting in my house with a screwdriver (as I did in 5 seconds). Note: I put these close to the edge, so there is no movement when you unlock the door. They are made to be used to open a few inches and stop a child from leaving. If someone were to mount them that way, and with a lot of pressure open the door, I would assume they would pop off. however they feel very solid to me the way I have mounted them. ******************** Update 28 SEP 2012. Still happy with the product. I'm ordering a few more

Broke on the first use
One of the two locks works. The other one broke when I went to unlock it. The little knob you pull up on broke off and now it’s useless

Easily damaged
They work great and easy to install. The glue is strong and hold up well. The only problem that I have experienced is the when I have guest a my home they break them easily by opening the lock without pulling the lock pin out. I like the project but, they break easily if operated incorrectly. I'm on my third set now. I like them enough to continue to reinstall new ones x3.

Great for toddler-proofing!
I have these on all the windows in my house, as well as on the sliding glass patio door. These. Are. AWESOME. My toddler likes to sneak outside when I'm not looking, so these give me some peace of mind knowing he can't get outside and take off down the street when I'm in the bathroom, lol. Super easy to apply to surfaces, and the adhesive is REALLY sticky. Every one I have used takes a little muscle to pull off, so at least I know they aren't going to pop off easy. And it has a little spring lock to lock it in place. The spring lock can pop out if you pull on it wrong when opening, but luckily these are inexpensive to purchase, easy to replace. I would recommend these to anyone who is baby/toddler-proofing their homes. :)
