Works with modifications. But hate the scent.
Bought these again...only because they were 1/3 cheaper than the brand that's not scented. I HATE THE SMELL OF THESE. THE CAT HATES THE SMELL OF THESE. The non smell variiety is identical in everyway to these but the no scent is a plus. But cheap hubby wants to save money so we bought the stinky version. Poor kitty. Poor me when kitty gets close up to my face say when he visits a moment in bed or on couch. He's not a big lap sitter...he's a BIG MAINECOON. A sweety with the collars on not so sweet without. Another much smaller newbie came to live here three years ago and one or both needed intervention...thus the collars seem to work and seem to keep on working. But only on the Mainecoon not the little bully. But the Mainecoon wasn't going to take it off the little fella so we feared vet bills etc. and gave the collars a trial run. They need severe modification however. These things are plastic that is brittle and breaks up easily. Cats will chew through them also including our third cat would help chew through them on the other cats who were chewing and scratching at them so we'd be lucky to get one to stay on a kitty for even a week...usually within 3 days and it was off. One we've yet to find after 3 plus years...so some major DIY know how has come into play. WIDE TUBULAR shoe lacing works the best. We open a new packaged collar. Take it out and cut it in half. Then we cut up the middle the fulll length of that very carefully with strong scissors so you have a narrow half as long piece and approx 1/4 of the orginal collar. We insert this into the shoe lace pre cut to the size we'll need to fit the cat after we sew on the quick release plastic buckles. (100 in a package and all re-usable well last forever.) And we also recycle some laces others get too frayed during the use. Best just to keep looking for ones that work. We tried tubular nylon cording 1/2" but when kitty scratched at it...it ended up for shortening it...until collar actually became too tight and was strangling him. So the nylon webbing is out for our cats at least.) Shoe laces are not easy to come by that work well. Tubular and 1/2 inch are the key. So we make 4 collars out of the one. The cool thing is we get on average 5 months out of one collar. I kid you not. The quarter collar lasts longer. The interesting thing is there is a half life going on however. So we make a note on our calendar when he gets a new collar and if it's number 1 through 4. So as it goes the first lasts 4-6 weeks. Second 3-5 weeks the third 2-3 the fourth 2 with luck. How do we know it' not...suddenly our lovely Mainecoon is no longer trying to avoid the rascal bully and well have a show down instead. Also we have tried collars on both kits but like others with multi cat families noted sometimes a collar doesn't work on a cat..that seems to be the case with the little monster. I'd love to collar him and just him as we miss our fiesty independent Mainecoon but we do love the mellowed out fellow just the same. We probably would continue with the collar for him even if we didn't have the rascal who's the bully anymore because it seems to help with some of his anxieties. He can become a big spook of dark corners and what have you. The collar seems to help him with that. So the third kit needs nothing he's loved or not buy the other two. The rascal it doesn't work with if anything might make him a bit more agressive by reducing his anxiety in the other direction but does work on the BIG fellow who could use some slight mellowing out. And is better than big vet bills too. But requires modifications with benefits. Oh by the way they say the powdery stuff that flakes off the collars contains the active ingredients I sweep it up and rub that in equal parts right into the freshly made shoe lace collars before re-sealing the three spars into the orginal foil pouch. I date the pouch when I started the new 4 collars to not just the calendar so I've got a record to consult if I forget to write it elsewhere. Hope this helps anyone else who has had trouble keeping these things on their pets.

Works, but is NOT a breakaway collar!
I have used this collar for several years and it seems to calm down my kitty. She can be a little bit of a bully towards my other cat. With this collar, she hardly ever bothers him. But because it is not a breakaway, I can not give it 5 stars. This collar can be deadly if used on its own. I use electrical tape to secure it to the inside of my cat's regular collar. I originally used the zip tie suggestion in another review, which works, but had to ensure the zip tie clasp was away from her neck, and that meant when we pet her we could feel the bumps. I then used hot glue to secure the collar to the inside of her collar, but the collar is so smooth, it often would not stick. So we started using electrical tape. This is working great! One advantage is that these collars are so long, I can cut it in half, and get two months out if it. One half of a collar is the exact length I need for the inside of her regular collar. Please do not use this product as is! Secure it safely to your kitty's breakaway collar.

for the most part it works
I have a rescue kitty that must have been abused. She is the most loving cat I have owned but she has bad anxiety. A stranger comes into her home, she pees on the carpet. Also she becomes aggressive towards our exotic shorthair cat(don't hate the player-hate the game). I can tell when I have to change the color because she becomes a total idiot - peeing crying etc. So this collar must do something for her. It's not a cure she still has 'bad days' but they are far and few between.

Im compelled to write a review 1st few minutes of use
OK based on most of the negative reviews....Here goes... 1) Does every human like or love the scent of lavender/lilac? Answer: NO because we are ALL DIFFERENT & have different preferences. So...the 1st thing I did was put the collar on my 14 year old females neck & WATCH HER for next few minutes to see how she reacts. You will know quickly if your cat likes or dislikes this product. As for my cat, she immediately began obsessively over grooming herself & that was my signal that the scent is over powering to her and so I took it off. 2) Well would you like a bottle of essential oil sitting right under your nose 24/7? I know I wouldnt even if I love the scent. So I decided to place the collar next to her litter box in her own cat bathroom & slightly close the door 24/7 to keep the aroma inside the bathroom. Cats have a wicked sense of smell and if this product is further away from their nose perhaps it will work. She has a common feline disorder which makes urinating painful. It has the name of FIC Idiopathic Cystitis & the name of FLUDT. Sadly there is no cure. She is fine until she has to urinate and then she screams in agony for 5 minutes before walking into the bathroom. Like any chronic illness the symptoms come & go. I believe she has a phobia and associates the litter box with pain from her last FLARE UP several months ago. When she gets into the box she no longer screams and so she fears impending pain. I am hoping this aroma may calm her and I will provide an update since we are on day 1. CATS do NOT urinate outside the box unless they have a physical condition like a UTI or the ones I mentioned. They are trying to get their families attention. The other reason they urinate outside the box is if it is not cleaned at least once per day and brand new litter once per week. Would you want to continue pooping in the same toilet which has not been flushed each time? Well cats are even more finicky than humans because they are the CLEANEST ANIMAL of all. Thats one reason I love them because they do not eat their poop like other animals and they keep themselves very clean. I am only writing this because my 14 year old cat has been an only since 2012 and has no major changes in her life except the development of an illness which caused her for the 1st time to pee outside her box in the office multiple times. She associated the litter box with PAIN. I have never punished any of my cats for this behavior because it is a warning they need something. It doesnt happen unless they are crying for help of some kind. Most cat lovers know this but I read some reviews on here about cats peeing outside box. Cats have a wicked sense of smell and I am thinking

MILAGRO!

So happy with this product I bought three collars as I ...
So happy with this product I bought three collars as I have two cats one who is over anxious to the point she was over grooming and leaving bald patches on herself as well as scratching herself. And another Cat who scratches furniture and seems to think he has to take on the world and fight every other cat ...resulting in numerous visits to the vet. Since popping on the collar I have noticed a change anxious cat fur is growing back and she seems much calmer and the boisterous cat seems a lot calmer and more chilled out and his persistent scratching of furniture has lessened. So this has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders would recommend

Actually has a calming effect
The collar really works on my cat, so it meets my expectations. I think the price is a bit too high but the quality compared to other producers of similar collars is really good
