Beautiful.
It's beautiful, but I do NOT think it's worth paying $100 for...Maybe $60...Be careful not to chip the paint off.????

In service 5 years and going (no pun). See updates at end!
UPDATE 10-28-19: Six years and going strong. But....the PRICE?! UP $42.00 since that purchase! I still have the back pads shimmed as explained below and no hinge issues. ORIG POST: Finding a high quality toilet seat is such a chore given the cheap, import products with which our country is flooded. Seeing high marks on this design, despite being imported, prompted me to shell out the $47 for it. I was a bit wary of the hinge breakage that was sporadically reported. Surely a seat of this cost has no such issues, right? Wrong. One didn't need to be an engineer to see the root cause of the hinge fracturing that was reported. Once the seat is installed, with the supplied washers, the hinge causes a height difference between hinge and the back pair of pads of about 1/8-inch. This kind of blindness drives me nuts. Why advertise 4 pads if only 2 touch? So, when stressed with such a gap, the hinges bear the brunt of the weight between the front pads and the hinge connection. Given that moment arm, somethings will give. At it will be the weakest link....the hinges. Not wanting to return it given its superior finish and somewhat select wood, I trotted to the downtown hardware store for some neoprene washers. By the time I put 1/8-inch pads from the washers on the rear pads, the front pads need a 1/16-inch thick boost, lest you bend the seat and crack the finish. In summary, buy something else. Unless you enjoy troubleshooting someone else's engineering mistakes. For the record, my bowl is flat as flat can be. So is the seat, without the washers, which you need so you don't crack the bowl. Argggh! UPDATE. 6-23-18: Added one star since the wood looks like new. The hinge has that cheap patina but it is functional. I have had to change my rubber spacers a few times but no big deal. Those spacers are doing their job, keeping the force at the back of the seat directly through those spacers to the bowl, removing the hinge fracturing potential others have seen. I don't use strong solutions to clean the wood (windex), saving those for the porcelain. The seat and cover remain sealed and shiny. I would recommend but not without spacers. WOW! Just noticed the current $80 tag! I paid $47, but that was almost 5 years ago. UPDATE 3-17-19. Well the luck of the Irish be with us on this seat. The piano finish is still shining and the seat resins sealed. Make sure you pad the rear seat bumpers to remove the horrible misalignment designed into this. Without a spacer, weight passes through the front bumper and the hinge. If you pad the rear pads, the hinges are free of stress. The hinge components have discolored some but not bad. Raised from 2 to 3 stars.

Bad hinges!
For a high end product it has bad hinges. Snapped in half in less than 6 months in use. Very disappointed!

NO OTHER WORD but EXTRAORDINARY CAN SAY IT!!
UPDATE: October 6, 2016 We have had the seat THREE WEEKS and although beautiful, it has split in the middle of the bottom seat. What a shock and we are not overweight people so weight cannot be blamed. Today our replacement arrived but we are so worried about what happens if it slits again. We are PRIME customers and so thankful we are. If it splits again, we will change the rating once more. If not, we will rate it again at a 5 STAR but not until we are sure it holds up. At this price, it should certainly last a while! I will post another photo when we replace this one that is broken. We are hugely disappointed. The company is requiring we send it back so hopefully they will explain why it split. Be cautious and keep your old seat until the new seat proves itself. Mamie ************************************ Absolutely nothing is finer or better looking than cherry wood! After replacing our floors in a remodel we needed a special toilet seat with the rest of our bathroom updates but it was much more difficult than you would expect. Looking for a toilet seat 16-1/2" and wood was impossible. There were lots of 16" and 18" but 16-1/2" with quality were not to be found. Giving up after one week searching we decided to chance this 17" size seat and WOW! were we excited to open our box and discover this extraordinary seat. It's quality, beauty and ease of care is well worth the money you will spend. Now, for the other bathrooms! Don't miss out here as nothing is better than wood....certainly not plastic. Consider the time you use this seat and you too will want the best. No different than fine furniture no matter which room.

Needs some (installation) tlc, then seems ok
This seat appears to be the same asComfort Seats C1B1R-17BN Designer Solid Wood Toilet Seat with Brushed Nickel Hinges, Round, Oak , except that this one has chrome hardware. I was glad to have read the reviews for the brushed nickel version, esp. one by Judy A., as it helped to figure out why the seat wasn't fitting properly. The seat came with two washers, one thick rubber and one plastic (for each side, left and right). But the instructions don't say how to install them. With either one or both in place (on top), there is a gap that Judy A. pointed out. (Another seat I had used a flat piece of felt-like material. That kind of washer would fit, but I had doubts about its durability.) If you look at this diagram: [...], it seems to imply no washer should be on top. I called the manufacturer and spoke to a pleasant person. She told me the top washers were optional, but sent me a set of washers to try. They are a soft rubbery material that fits into the mounting hole on top. It leaves no gap (which seemed to be the cause of some hinge cracking for the brushed nickel version). I put the thick rubber washer between the nut that you turn underneath and the plastic washer (whose rounded part goes over the hole). Once tightened, the seat doesn't wobble. It looks nice and the lid goes up and down smoothly, with no squeaking. There is no creaking when sitting. The seat doesn't normally move side to side, but if you pull it you can get it to move that way a bit because the hinge rod doesn't fit exactly tightly in the hinge. Concerning longevity, we'll have to see.

The wood finishes very nice
Wood finish is really nice looking and very smooth. The hardware on the other hand seems lower quality so not sure how long it will last.
