Need to rely on navigation when diving? Avoid this product for your own safety!
Sturdy, good construction, clip works as designed. However, be advised that these clips (I actually bought two - each one on a different order) wreak havoc with navigation instrumentation!! I recently attempted to use both during my advanced open water certification (AOW). I was learning and having to demonstrate navigation skills. I have two compasses: an analog one on my console, and a digital one built into my wristband dive computer. The results were frightening to say the least. Neither compass operated with any reliability, regardless of how far I held either of them from these clips. The analog compass couldn’t even establish and maintain a heading - and I was diving near Jupiter, FL - nowhere near the Bermuda Triangle. The digital compass didn’t fare much better. Needless to say I failed myNavigation cert that day, and now need to pay for another session. To add insult to injury, since I didn’t have occasion to dive with these until recently, the return widow has passed and Amazon won’t take them back. Lesson learned: don’t buy anything, especially SCUBA gear from Amazon unless you’re going to be able to try it soon after receiving it! It’s really a shame these didn’t work out. I liked their design and ease of use. Sadly, they’re just incompatible with compasses - a somewhat essential safety measure when diving anything other than a drift dive. And shame on you Amazon, for not standing behind products you sell. Apparently your interest in providing an excellent customer experience has waned as you’ve become a retail behemoth. Your success will be increasingly difficult to sustain with your increasingly draconian return policies.

Best octo holder out there
I’ve bought a few of these over the years for myself and dive buddy gifts. Many people ask about it as it’s interesting. I’m always looking for the best way to hold my octo secure so I know where it is but can get it unhooked easily. This does the job and stays put in most situations. It sometimes comes undone during giant stride but I just check for that. You can reconnect without looking just get the magnets near each other and they will snap together. Yes after a while it does rust even though I rinse it and then the magnet doesn’t work as well. For the price I just replace it every couple years. It’s worth it!

i found the cheapest one on prime and it works great! (note i have only gone on 4 dives with it so far)
just completed my open water course with this - my instructor highly recommended a magnetic octo restraint so i found the cheapest one on prime and the cheapest alternative to compare it to (that's my style). so i must say: super effective way to restrain your octo. magnet is strong - so it keeps it in place - and the method for attaching it to your second stage hose is very effective. i also bought a clip [Scuba Choice Scuba Diving Double Hose Holder...] to compare the two (since it was only 6 dollars) and i must say that the clip was a PITA to get the hose back into (under water or otherwise) really hurt your fingers trying to force it in - and once it was in - it some what easily popped out with significant incidental contact (fin/fist/otherwise). for the price difference of about 10 dollars this IMO is a way more effective method of securing your octo. I absolutely will recommend this to all my friends getting into scuba- for 15ish dollars you cant go wrong.

Love it. But don't think your compass will
Very nice compared to the standard rubber ones. This allows for the mouth peice to point towards your feet and prevents free flows at the surface. However if you dive with a compasss this will definitely interfere. I only dive springs so i never need a compass.

Loving this Magnetic Reg/Octo Hose Holder Clip.
Loving this Magnetic Reg/Octo Hose Holder Clip. I received this Magnetic Reg/Octo Hose Holder Clip in Blue and Yellow the next day after ordering them. I did three dives so far using them. The hose holder fit snugly on my Poseidon Reg/Octo hoses with it not sliding at all, keeping the holder where I wanted it. The clips seem strong and sturdy. The magnet was strong holding the hose to the clip, easy to separate when needed, and kept the reg/octo from dangling. Important Note: When using my compass in my hands with arms fully extended, the magnet seemed to have no affect on it with a separation distance of at least 24 inches. Knowing this limitation, I will still use this Magnetic Clip. If I need to navigate using my compass, I could always unclip the magnet portion and move to the bottom of my BC, or remove and clip on my buddy while I navigate.

Works like a charm!
The magnet is super strong and all I've got to do is get my spg hose close to it and it clips right on automatically. I love it! Just make sure that your compass is an adequate distance away from it because the magnet is pretty strong. I have not had any navigation issues but I keep my compass on the opposite side of my body so I don't have any interference issues.

Functional
I've used this on my last 7 dives. It works for the most part but it does separate at times

Safe and easy to install
Easy to install. Sturdy materials. Much safer and easier than tucking the Octopus hose in a D-Ring on the BCD. Will also help avoid wear and tear on the hose by not folding it into the D-Ring

Broke the first week that I used it.
The hose is held in place by a plastic ring on a plastic thread. The ring broke after 2 days of diving making the item useless.
