EASY INSTALL
Very good quality and easy to install. Compared to the Kwikset deadbolt and handle set that I tried installing first, the Schlage full install took only about 45 minutes, I had wasted 2 afternoons and several hours in my failed attempt to install the Kwikset deadbolt and handle set. I didn't need a video to instruct me either. The Schlage product is also all metal with no plastic parts. It is the superior product.

Replacement lock set for an outside door.
Pros: Nice heavy metal; seems sturdy and burglar resistant.; attractive to the eye and easy for a person with decreased hand or wrist strength to operate; the levers and the deadbolt are keyed alike so you only need one key for both. Cons: A pain to install. #1. The dead bolt will not work if you fail to heed the small print and install the inner bar vertically rather than horizontally. It was easy to unscrew and realign so the bolt works correctly with the key and inside knob. #2. The package included a second set of deadbolt screws instead of the correct screws for the lever unit. I bought the correct screws from my local hardware store. #3. The lever unit comes set for a left hand door (as viewed from the outside) and is designed so the levers can be reversed for a right hand door. The included instructions and a you tube video make this procedure sound easy. Basically, you insert a special tool into a small hole by each lever to release the cylinders so the levers can be pulled off and reversed. The special tool was missing from my package so we used a thin allens wrench. It takes a lot of strength to push in and release the cylinders. We finally placed each lever gently into a vice to give a stable base. Once the cylinders are out, it is easy to reverse the levers and snap the parts back together. Bottom line: We needed to replace door knobs with levers, and they work well once installation is finally completed.

Nicely matches the Schlage Accent door levers
This Dexter by Schlage lock set was purchased to go along with the just replaced doorknobs in my home. Those are Schlage Accent door levers, replacing 30 year old aged brass round knobs. These were a perfect fit for the old door hardware and the swap was smooth and easy. They look clean and modern, and are very elegant. Levers are easier than knobs for older folks, and as we are all only getting older, this seemed to be a good choice. I bought this set because the locks are keyed identically. If I'd bought the deadbolt and door lever separately (and made by Schlage) they would have been keyed separately and I didn't want that. I will update the review after I've used this set and see if it matches the usual Schlage quality. Very good quality.

I love the look of these handles
I love the look of these handles. I bought a number of them to changes all of our patio doors mostly on the reputation of the company. That was a very short time ago. I waited before posting a review because I wanted to make sure they didn't break an hour after posting a review. So far so good. They have a smooth feel, no jerky mechanism. I'm very happy. I wish I'd bought them right from the start rather than the cheaper ones that ended up breaking. Sometimes, saving money ends up costing more.
