Great for bunion sufferers!!

Please excuse the gross scab behind my leg and the k-tape wrap. I've been doing a lot of excessive walking this month of August which has led to extreme pain in my bunion and some blisters from wearing the wrong kind of footwear. This is what had led me to look into the proper footwear for walking. I had previously owned a pair of Ryka's years ago for running. It had been so long that I honestly couldn't remember whether or not I liked them. I figured I'd give them a shot seeing as this particular pair was extremely inexpensive and Amazon offered free returns on them. Upon trying them on with a regular pair of socks (not too thick not too thin, just your average pair of athletic type socks), they felt comfortable for me. There were no seems running across my bunion (at least none that I could feel with my socks on). The forefront of the foot was relatively wide where my bunion didn't feel compressed at all from the sides. I didn't order the wide size in these because my other foot didn't have the bunion. I just ordered my regular sneaker size 8 medium width and these fit perfectly! I took them on a test run just now for a 3-mi walk with my dog and my feet are feeling great. A little bit tired but none of that excessive pain that I have felt in my regular running sneakers by a different brand. These definitely felt roomier without my foot feeling like it was slipping inside the shoe. I ordered the burgundy colored ones because I just wanted to try something different for once and I figured these looked a little less grandmotherly than the all white pair. These still kind of look like granny shoes but you know what, I actually like them. Please note that these are suede in some parts of the shoe so they will collect dirty fairly easily if you get the lighter colored shoes. The burgundy color does have a nice contrast of pink suede in the forefront. The middle mesh panel on the left and right side of the foot is breathable. So if you hold it up to the light you can see light shining through but that is the only part that is breathable. The shoe did feel a little bit warm from walking around during the 3 miles but suppose it's not any hotter than any other athletic sneaker of the same type of thickness. I attached some photos of myself wearing these sneakers with different angle shots so that you can see what they look like in the burgundy color. The inserts in these are removable if you need to put in your own orthotics. The shoelaces are definitely way too long so I had to tie them twice, but a lot of my other sneakers are like that also with laces way too long. I'm definitely glad that I made this purchase and this will help me finish out my challenge for the month of August without breaking the bank. I think as far as walking sneakers go, I'll be coming back to this particular brand for them.

Not my favorite

I'm not a runner, but I like the Brooks support for overpronation. I've worn the GTS18 in the past and it was my favorite for two pair. This seems quite a bit clunkier, for one, and it doesn't have the high instep space I need so it's difficult to get the laces to close over the tongue. In addition, the laces seem to loosen up on a regular basis, even though they are double-knotted. I come home from work and my feet/ankles are swollen and painful. Also, I prefer a lower heel... the differential from the heel to arch to toe seems more extreme than the previous model I've worn. I can go back to my worn out older models and not have these issues.

A little small but nice shoe

Very nice shoe. The only issue I have is that I tend to wear 8.5 and these appear to be a little small (my toe is at the tip of shoe) I will order this brand shoe again but will order in size 9. Great walking shoe.

Clunkier than I expected for a walking shoe

Fit was as expected. At first, seemed to not be wide enough but comfortable after wearing a few minutes. I didn't expect a clunky, chunky shoe for a walking shoe. Looks more like a running shoe with the wide soles. However, the picture was accurate. These look nothing like the usual Ryka shoe. Tried them on and wore them for about an hour before I realized I was still wearing them. Guess that means they are comfortable. Time will tell.

Would buy again.

I really love these shoes and they look super cute. The only thing is that I bought a wide and I definitely don’t need it. They are super wide. But still able to wear and be comfortable. Cheaper than in shoe stores buy at least $15. Would buy again.

Consistently Good Shoes

I can always rely on Ryka for fit, for comfort and for good looks. They never disappoint and I can wear them right out of the box with no break-in time.

Wonderful supportive sneaker

These are great comfortable sneaks. I love ryka, made just for womem. I have a mesh ryka for summer walks which i love as no lining under the mesh so very cool but needed a heavier warmer one for colder fall into early winter then spring and these are perfect. Extremely comfortable right out of the box, good arch support. Very well made sturdy shoe. I actually returned this one as i found a bit cheaper and in a color i wanted more that the gray but its a great sneaker!

I really wanted to like these but....

First impressions are these are a beautiful shoe - but I found as I wore them the toe area is too cramped and caused pain after a short time. Sorry, these are going back. Also they are quite warm for a summer shoe, they would be more suited for fall/spring weather.
