NO DRAIN STOPPER TO LOSE OR COMPLEX MECHANISM TO BREAK, LOOKS GOOD TOO!
Drain stoppers have evolved from my childhood. I still remember those rubber sink stoppers that started disintegrating more each day with first use onward. I remember the complex mechanical sink stoppers that quit working if one of its bits got bent, rusted or otherwise failed. I was looking for a better solution and in this sink stopper I found it. Everything wears out eventually but this stopper has ease of use and dependability on its side in ways the other previously mentioned methods don't Only knock against this sink stopper is the seal with the drain is not tight enough to keep all the water in the bowl. I had to take 2 stars off because keeping the water in the bowl is the key function of this device and to fail at its main function kills the utility. None of the newer technologies are particularly good at prevent water lose via leakage. This sink stopper is far from the best but no where near the worse either. I love this drain stopper solution not for its effectiveness at containing water in the sink but for its simplicity and ease of use. I had the sink stopper assembly installed by the same master plumber I've used for over 20 years. He has done lots of work for me over the years. If he can't stop water escaping this sink stopper I venture to say it can't easily be done. The best thing about this sink stopper is you can't lose it.

Perfect match for KOHLER bathroom sink
Pros: - Narrow and slope drain flange that is perfect for the drain hole of KOHLER K-2202-4-0 Brookline bathroom sink which I also bought from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/KOHLER-K-2202-4-0-Brookline-Self-Rimming-Bathroom/dp/B000MSKQLS?ie=UTF8&dpID=31IWrLBTdOL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=04DGXVM1V785F5CRE0G9&ref_=pd_sim_sbs_60_6. The drain flange sits well below the drain opening. As a result, there is no small pool of standing water around the drain flange which occurred when I had a generic pop-up drain with a flat wider drain flange. - Easy to install. I used plumber putty per instruction as a sealant under the drain flange. - Tail piece screws on the main drain body with a fine thread. The main drain and the tail piece look like one piece. Per instruction, there is no need to detach the tail piece to wrap it with Teflon tape or apply any thread sealant. There is no leak! - Thick rubber gasket has a good seal between the drain nut and the sink. Cons: - Expensive! - The drain stopper almost perfectly holds water. I filled the sink with water. After a couple hours the water line dropped a little. It is practically good enough for me.

Good quality and finish, fits on a Toto LT542G
I'm using this on a Toto LT542G sink I'm using in a remodel. I tried the Delta, which is less money, but the body length of that drain was too short for the Toto sink and won't fit the Decolav sink in the other bathroom, either. Poor design on the part of Delta. This Kohler is nicely made and uses a threaded tailpiece that screws into the drain body. This design works perfectly for porcelain or vitreous china sinks with overflow, since those are generally thicker through the drain area. I always prefer to buy Made in USA to support U.S. workers, and was disappointed that this item is Chinese, but it's well made. Many of the "clicker" type drains are very large. It seems as though the large ones are styled more for vessel sinks than undermounts. This Kohler is smaller, more along the lines of the normal popup that is operated with the pull rod. In my case I have to use a clicker because there is no pull rod - I am using a wall mount faucet. This item is very pricey for an import but it's good quality and most importantly, it actually fits. If you're using a Toto LT542G porcelain sink, this is the drain to get.

Excellent quality for long term service
I sure appreciate the heavy gage metal and precision construction. A plastic pop up drain came with the cast iron sink, but there was no way I was putting that in my new remodeling construction. This Kohler drain fits my vision of very long term service and I expect to have no issues with it whatsoever.

Second Installation was Easier
Installed two of these into pedestal sinks. The second time was much easier. I like the idea that I can unscrew the top and poke a plastic hair trap strip down the drain pipe to clear any hair. A typical pop-up drain would require that I take the pop-up assembly out from under the sink. The second installation was more trouble free because I put teflon tape and plumber's putty everywhere I could, including plumbers putty around the threads covered by the rubber doughnut gasket and the gasket itself. The threaded extension pipe has a nylon gasket on the end but I still used a single wrap of teflon tape on the threads. This pipe needs to be fully threaded to seat the gasket. I used the rubber doughnut gasket from my previous Moen drain because it fit the hole better. The pop-up clicker moves a rubber diaphragm up and down to seal the drain. I purchased separately spare rubber diaphragms and clicker.

I feel they could have very easily shortened this
This appears to be a little shorter than the plunger faucet handle style... it isn't. I mainly needed one that was shorter to clear my drawers. I'll be able to put this to use else where, but not for the purpose I intended. I feel they could have very easily shortened this, which would give a viable Kohler branded option for low clearance. So I knocked off one star for them not taking advantage of the clear ability to knock 3" off the length and thus having no low clearance options available. I grabbed a couple from Signature Hardware and they really are a solid 3-4" shorter. Quality seems good, not quite to the level of the Kohler unit, but when you need that 3-4" and there aren't any other options, you have to make due. So if you're considering ordering this to gain some clearance, don't bother; it is the same length as the lever/plunger version that comes with many faucets.

It worked well for a few years but then lost ...
It worked well for a few years but then lost its ability to plug up the drain completely. Now it lets a small constant trickle of water so that filling up the sink with water is no longer possible.

Very versitile drain, but not the simplest to install.
The only reason this is not 5 stars is because it comes in 10 pieces. Granted it is nice that it breaks down to accommodate different sink styles, it makes it tricky to install with only one person as the top part that sits in the basin has to be held from above while tightening it from under the sink. Otherwise pop-up action is smooth and the stopper seems to hold water well.

Great quality
Very nicely made, will last a lot longer than the POS that came with my expensive faucet set. Quality that you'd expect from another era, though you do pay for it.
