Tempera Paint is NOT permanent - buyer be aware

Tempera Paint is NOT permanent - a 2nd coat (over wet or completely dry tempera paint) will move the 1st coat around. Acrylic paint is permanent and it does come in metallic colors. These metallic Tempera paints dry beautiful but you cannot expect to paint more than one coat or you will get frustrated. These metallic tempera paints dry with a beautiful sparkle finish - but they are water-soluble and the 1st coat will literally slide around if you attempt to paint a 2nd coat, or attempt to paint a shadow effect with acrylic or other tempera paint. We searched for (silver, copper and gold metallic paints for a mural project) - and did not understand Tempera paint was washable. We bought these because our project was rather large. Delivery was fine, you do get 3 large bottles of paint (1 of each color). Not only was it difficult to paint over an acrylic base white coat it was also hard to paint on top of an acrylic prime coat (on a wall, and a wood surface), it was super frustrating to paint the first coat. Luckily, and completely by chance, we did combine several acrylic paint colors while also painting with the tempera copper paint which created a beautiful shiny effect. From what I've learned, this may be why we did not need a 2nd coat and the project may actually be sealed for the most part. To seal the tempera - I read you can put 1 coat of acrylic varnish or a thinned acrylic clear coat over this tempera paint to seal it. A spray may be best or use a wide roller, not a brush, and only apply 1 thin coat, be cautious - do not roll over the same section more than 1 time, as your tempera paint will slip around and from what I read it will appear milky however, will dry fine. Remember, even if the tempera paint has been dry for several days it will slip and slide around the second it gets wet (whether its paint or water your previous paint job will move around). The mural project was completed, which thankfully we used mostly acrylic paint however it has several metallic tempera paint components - we may have to seal it (right now - we just don't want to touch or mess with it), thankfully the mural is indoors and not located in a restaurant or bathroom where water or moisture could ruin it. If you're looking for a metallic paint for a sign or a fun paint project you can keep in a dry location, you'll be fine.

Great value

These were $15 when I purchased them, which is extremely reasonable compared to other metallic paints. So much so that I purchased 6 quantities of this 3 bottle package. I've painted with these on multiple surfaces, and they behave just as you would expect from acrylic paint. They also mix very well - with each other and other acrylic brands. You can mix nearly equal parts of these 3 colors to get a really nice Gun-Metal color. Add a little gloss black to make it even better. You can also mix these with normal acrylics to get a huge range of colorful metallic colors. Very much worth the price.

7 to 18 age of use. Needs more than 1 coat.

Age used 7 to 18. Grandchildren liked these. However, needed more than 1 coat & took patients for younger ones to let dry before applying additional coats.

Bigger bottles than I expected

It was nice to open the box to find that the bottles were not only packaged safely and didn't break, open, or leak but they were bigger than I expected. The paint has a nice texture to it and I am excited to start using them soon.

Great value for beautiful metallic paint.

The paint is a bargain for the amount and very attractive. I wish it came in other colors, if so, I have missed seeing it in blue s and greens. There are thicker paints, but this is thick enough for acrylic painting, but if thinned very much, the coverage becomes thin.

Nice Shimmer to my Acrylic Pour Pieces...????????

My bottles came wrapped together in plastic...in one box and in another amazon box... great packaging...these metallic paints are beautiful... they are rather thick/heavy body... a little goes alonnnnnng way...I mix my paints with Floetrol and water... once poured, they come out with a beautiful shimmer... I have noticed, the price has increased...not sure if I will pay almost $15’s for this paint... however, I am very pleased with the product I have purchased...

Very well packaged but when I removed the top from the bronze it was semi-opened. Luckily it did not spill.
