Great light but problems connecting to wifi
Physically installing the downlight was very straightforward and no problems. It turned on and is bright. However I spent way more time trying to get the thing to connect to the app or wifi. The router is less than 30 ft away. Wifi signal is strong but the light failed to connect. Uninstalled and added a pigtail to plug in next to the router. Then it connected fine. Removed the pigtail and reinstalled in the bathroom. Now it works great. Just needed to be very close to the router for the initial setup. Anoyingly, the junction box does not come with a $0.25 cable connector that is necessary for the power line. Another trip to HD. I like the light but installation was a pain.

Wi-Fi Sucks
These lights have great potential but they fall way short in the connectivity department. They can do amazing things like change colors and temperature if you can keep them connected. I have these lights installed in a covered pergola with only 6 inches above the ceiling and an access point less than 15 feet from the furthest light and I can’t keep them connected to Wi-Fi. Until they fix the Wi-Fi issues, I cannot recommend them to anyone.

You Light Up My Downlight
The media could not be loaded. We live in a mid-city modern home, with dreadfully low eaves. These soffits have siding under them, concealing wood paneling. We had the most awful, disgusting light fixture there, which gradually became dangerous and just gross and ineffective. We needed something. However, due to the low clearance, we couldn't use just any fixture. My husband removed the old light and (scarily enough) used a 4" hole bit to drill through it all - siding...everything. I couldn't watch. The box fit easily enough into the hole, but that's where he encountered his first problem: he didn't want to leave the junction box sitting directly on the soffit, and instead, wanted to mount it on the rafter. He only had a 4" hole to work with. He drilled a screw mounting hole through the empty edge of the outside of the box so that he could drive the screw from the outside of the soffit (see pics). There are some very convenient connectors that you can use, but for some reason, my husband cut these off and used wire nuts with electrical tape. He said they were perfectly good connectors but he is just stubborn and was more comfortable with the wire nut approach. After plugging that in, and making sure it connected with our network (he had to use the secondary method of connecting because we have a mixed 2.4 and 5.0 network) with no major problems. Results may vary. He then put sealer around the outside of the light, using the spring arms to allow the light to pull itself into the hole. Bam. Done. It works well with Alexa, using the Starfish app. That's a bit of a learning curve, but we're getting there. We had some issues getting the light to shift color from white to amber, but the language is very specific (e.g. warm white, daylight white, etc). Consult the app for that. You can also adjust the brightness. He's complained much less about this fixture than many of the other random "smart" fixtures he's installed, and it's been a good solution for our house with the clearance issues.

My first Smartlight so I have to get used to it.
It was easy for me to install because I just watched. I had my brother-in-law do it. I looked at it and decided installing it myself wasn't a good idea. It took him 90 minutes to install, but brings light to a corner of my dining room that looked like a cave. I don't understand all the specs so you'll have to read it on the Amazon page. He ended up using an old-school toggle. How it works, well, it's my first smart bulb and I have to get used to it. I honestly don't like it on my phone; I have android. I did like that there was only one choice in the Google play store. The app was easy to use, but I'd rather have a remote to work it.

Lights only connect if extremely close to router.
Lights need to be extremely close to the router. Could not get all outside lights to connect. Had to return.

Works but wish it was brighter
Installed easily (assuming you know basic wiring) and works fine. Had no problem setting up and controlling the light. I do wish it was brighter. 4" and 650 lumens isn't enough for an interior hallway so I'll likely upgrade to a larger/brighter model. If you need it for nice, wifi controlled lighting in a specific area, works great.

DO NOT BUY!!
We have 25 lights on our house only 12 actually work. The rest blink like a strobe light nonstop. It’s almost impossible to get them to connect to Wi-Fi. We bought the best router & bought a Wi-Fi extender & it still won’t connect.
