Great small, portable Vac
The floor attachment is nice but tends to reduce the maneuverability. Also I have had the twist bypass pinch and leave blood-blisters. Bad placement for controlling the suction. Sorry. Otherwise the design of this handy vac is great.

Great little sucker
I've used this vacuum a few times, and I'm very happy with it. The suction is great, and it can be adjusted a bit by turning a little ring on the upper part of the metal wand to cover or uncover a little hole. This is useful when vacuuming a small area rug, so that the vacuum doesn't pull too strongly on the rug. I like the fact that the main wand is made of metal, not cheap plastic, and it telescopes to adjust its length. The only thing I don't like is that the cord is not retractable, but that was not a deal-breaker for me. The crevice tool was missing in my package, but I the crevice tool from my old vacuum happened to fit the Sanitaire vacuum, so this wasn't a problem for me.

Fantastic Little Vacuum
I did a bunch of research and this is very similar to the Eureka Mighty Mite. It has the same motor amperage and It uses the same bags and it looks almost identical, but it comes with very high quality accessories. The telescoping metal wand is great. It makes it extremely easy to quickly move from surface to surface. The wand feels hefty but it isn't too heavy and it is by far the best wand on any vacuum I have ever used. The soft brush tool is also really nice - the bristles are very long and I feel very safe using it on delicate surfaces like wooden furniture. The multi floor tool is also fantastic - one setting lifts it about an eighth of an inch so that it works well on hard floors. The shoulder strap is also really nice to have - making it very easy to vacuum ceilings without lugging around the canister. The vacuum itself has great suction. There was a hidden corner under a cabinet that had a bunch of broken glass in it and it sucked it all up, so it definitely has a lot of power. I have a dog with long hair and it works really well at picking it up. The small plastic tool is the only one that I don't really like - it works but the dog hair gets stuck on little brush and I have to remove it and suck the hair off (the bigger multi floor tool doesn't have this issue; some hair gets stuck to it but it seems to have a better design). I probably wouldn't recommend this to someone with large carpets or rugs as it doesn't have a rotating brush/head. This does not come with a HEPA filter but you can buy one that snaps onto the end behind the motor - I don't have allergies but this is a nice feature should I ever need one.

A nice compact vacuum, But I needed the blower function
This is a nice lightweight and maneuverable vacuum with very good quality components. However, I really needed the blower functionality so returned it. You can place the hose on the exhaust end to get a "blower" function, like the canisters of old. However it is more of a light breeze and inadequate for blowing dust out of crevices. This is an intentional design- much of the exhaust is diverted through vents behind the wheels and in a bypass in the hose connection. I assume they did this to insure the motor does not overheat but that could have been more effectively achieved with a thermal bypass switch. The manufacturer (Sanitaire/Bissell) was responsive and confirmed that the blower function is secondary and I should return the vacuum if this is a requirement. Update December 2022: =================== I purchased a Oreck instead. The blower function on that unit is great. Specifically, its longer more flexible cord, the metal telescoping handle, and the sturdiness of the attachments. It depends on whats most important to you.

Good for older people that are cleaning their own homes
I am really pleased with my Sanitaire Canister vacuum. My first vacuum was a canister type and I loved it. Sanitaire vacuum is light weight and much easier to maneuver than an upright vacuum. The suction is so strong that I have to turn it down vacuuming bare floors. The hose is a standard size (1-1/4 inches), and all of my old attachments also work on it. My only gripe would be that the attachment holder does not hold them well enough. They often fall off when vacuuming. I have not needed it yet, but I wish that Sanitaire had provided using the exhaust to blow out a blocked up hose. The one I had years ago did have that feature.
