Excellent mitts
These things are amazingly heat and fire resistant. (I learned that when I left one up against one a gas stove flame for a minute or so before I smelled it. It only singed the corner.) They work amazingly well. You can hold hot items for quite awhile before you notice. Things to know however! The price is for ONE. You need to buy another if you want two. They're extremely effective, but if you expect the suppleness of a cheap consumer grade oven mitt you'll probably be disappointed. It's totally worth it though, if you have the money and want a super high quality mitt. It's a little annoying sometimes when the magnets stick them together when you grab them off the counter to put on and pull something out of the oven quickly. However, this annoyance is worth it to me, for the convenience of them at most other times.

MOSTLY heat resistant, with some flaws
I am dropping my rating from 5 stars down to 4, because while I remain loyal to these San Jamar Cool Touch Flame oven mitts, the criticisms are legit, and I have a new one of my own: The claim of heat resistance up to 900 degrees DOES NOT APPLY TO THE ENTIRE OVEN MITT. See photo. The main material of the mitt itself does in fact have fantastic heat resistance, but when I used the mitt to pull a cast iron pot out of a 550 degree oven, then rested the mitt on the hot pot (as a reminder not to touch the pot), the label burned off of the oven mitt, and the fabric that holds the little magnet in place burned off as well (so no more magnet) How absurd is it that these parts of the mitt aren't as heat resistant as the rest of the mitt? Thank goodness I don't rely on the magnet feature, or I'd really be annoyed. As you've probably also seen, many people hate how big these mitts are. If you have small hands, this could be a deal breaker. Bottom line: If you're lifting a baking tray or cast iron skillet, or picking up a pot of boiling water by the handles, or reaching across a hot grill with your spatula, these are the BEST. Also, if you like to slip oven mitts on and off quickly while multi-tasking, these are the GREAT (because they are big, your hand slides right in or out). But if you are doing more precise work or gripping something small with your oven mitts on, these are not so great. EXAMPLE: I bake bread in parchment paper inside a large cast iron cloque. I use these to pull the cloque in and out of a 550 degree oven, but I have to take them off to grab the parchment paper and place the dough in the cloque. You can't grab parchment paper with these things on. Another nit regarding the magnets that are sewn into these oven mitts: If you have a metal food prep area, this makes is easy to hang them and grab when needed, but if you have multiple mitts stacked in a drawer, the magnets make the mitts stick to each other. Finally, don't be fooled by the name. These are not flame-proof. If you catch these things on fire, your expensive oven mitt is toast.

Works great and it's flexible not stuffy
Upon getting this as a gift I thought it would be too bulky to give me good grip on hot pans but it's very flexible and breaks in fast. Works great, no heat gets through

Very good
I bought this for my job, Burger King, they seem to like it. its made for you will not burn yourself. Yes had to get used too. but it is a virgin mitt. , the crew use it and when i see it dirty i will take it home and wash it, the point is on this glove you will not burn your arm. Full 2 feet of protection. It is rated on the glove to be a PROFESSIONAL glove , and they use the over all day every day.

Keep your lower arms safe too
I have used the shorter version of this glove for years and have been (and still am) very happy with it. This longer version adds protection for your underarm, important when working with large baking sheets, reaching farther into the oven and putting large lids upside down on the counter when hot. It delivers and I highly recommend it!

Great heat resistance, magnets are dangerous, label melted
Most important thing to know: these mitts have great heat resistance. I broil salmon by heating a steel frying pan directly under the flame broiler for 10 minutes, then dropping in the fish. Needless to say the pan handle is hot. I needed some gloves with great heat resistance, and these do the trick. There are a couple of design flaws though. There are little magnet tags made for sticking the gloves together when you're not using them. Sounds like a great idea right? The problem is that the magnets stick to every ferrous thing in the kitchen - steel pot lids, the oven door, steel pans, you name it. After the third time the magnets grabbed a boiling hot pot lid and almost dropped it on my toes, I took some scissors and cut the magnets off. They're dangerous! Second problem: there's a black label sewn on one of the gloves. I guess it's supposed to be the back of the glove, but since they're reversible it's smack in the middle of the palm if you put the glove on "backwards." I found out the hard way that the label is NOT heat resistant, grabbed a pan out of the oven and the label got all scorched and melted. This was more my dumb mistake, but honestly it was a dumb place for the manufacturer to stick a label, especially one that can melt and burn. In sum: great oven mitts with a couple of pretty dumb design decisions that are annoying but don't ruin their usefulness.

We ended up getting two of them. Very heat resistant. Good value, easy to use and very giftable

Funny Little Glove...
I also chose this mit based on the recommendation of America's Test Kitchen. It met all my expectations, including for size. I can't account for other reviews, even supported by photos, that portray this thing as gigantic. It's large, but not over-sized. It's possible the manufacturing process in this case results in inconsistent products, but if that is not what's going on with this product, I would recommend this mit for adults with morphologies in the broad middle of the range of human size variations. Teeny, tiney people might look for a teeny, tiney mit, rather than this one and big, big, giant people might look for a big, big, giant mit. For the rest of us, this one should do the job. Assuming you have the necessary disposable income. (Jeez, the price, huh?)

Worth every penny
I bought this mitt because I burnt my hand several times with some cheap ones I bought at Super Store and got tired of it. Found several reviews listing this brand in their top 10 or 20 lists, and couldn't be happier. I've held onto cooking sheets out of a 425-degree oven for more than a minute without issue and I've even grabbed something out of the oven after getting the outside wet and didn't get burned. Super easy to clean too. Also, they look better than in the photos. There's only a small section of yellow in the corner of the thumb and fingers.

excellent to keep your hands safe
You can retrieve anything from the oven and place it on a rack, without your hand getting hot or burned. Best oven mitts ever

The one mitt is very nice though.
So because there are 2 mitts in the picture and normally these things come in pairs.... silly me expected to recieve 2 and feel this is misleading. The one mitt is very nice though..
