Easy to install

Bought this as a replacement for my Samsung RS265TDRS frig. Very easy to replace as their is a video on Youtube. There are 3 x screws securing the ice maker and it has an electrical connection behind the interior wall. There are 4 screws to remove in order to pull the internal wall/panel out to get to the electrical connection. Once the ice maker is out, you have to swap out the bottom plastic piece that is secured by 2 screws. I have read that previous folks have had to supply their own screws to secure the bottom plastic piece to the ice maker. I did not have that experience with my situation. The two screws fit into the ice maker and off I went. Entire procedure was about ten minutes at most. I completed this when I got home after work and by later in the evening, it was making ice cubes once again. Symptoms started with icicles forming at the bottom of the ice cube maker. As they would form, they would attach to the ice maker maker arm and freeze it in place whereby stopping the ice cube making process. Nice... Using a butter knife, we would clear the frozen icicles and hit the reset button. It went from every once in a while. Well, this interview occurred quicker and quicker to the point where we were clearing the icicles every 2-3 days... And then all of a sudden it stopped. No more ice cubes were being made. So we did a little research and found that Samsung has two different part numbers for this ice cube maker and they appear identical. They both fit into this frig as well so we went with the cheapest price. A week later, it is working well and making ice cubes like when the frig was brand new. I would have given 5 stars because it is working again but being a skeptic, for how long? Our frig is only 4.5 yrs old and this ice maker starting exhibiting problems around the 4yr mark. Seems premature to me. But then again, do your research and you will find that all ice cube makers are lacking these days... so maybe this is what we just accept and move on? But for $100-105, all you need is a phillips head screwdriver and 10min and you are back in business.

Good value.
Easy to install, worked fine. For weeks. Suddenly stopped, found an ice jam , deiced and reset, after several hours started to work again. Fingers crossed.

Brand falsely advertised.
I received the icemaker and it was not a genuine Samsung oem as stated on their web page. I installed it and so far it is okay. I will be expecting a 1 year warranty should it go bad prematurely.

Easy installation with a couple of caveats
This is labeled as an OEM replacement and I have no reason to believe otherwise. If your Samsung freezer has the 12-pin ice maker plug, this is the right one to order. As has been pointed out in other reviews, the plastic shield that covers the heating element is not included, so you’ll need to remove that and retain it. Also, odds are the two screws that were holding the shield in place will not fit this new unit. On mine, the old screws were too large and I had to go to Lowes and purchase a pack of 14 M3-.50 x 8 Pan Phillips Machine screws for about $2. If you have a magnetic screwdriver it will be easier to insert these screws. There’s an oily residue inside the ice maker that I assume is vegetable oil, but I tossed out the first few batches of ice just to be sure. There are no instructions with this unit. YouTube videos exist to help with the install. One note: my fridge doesn’t “ding” no matter how long you press and hold the reset button. However, it does ding later after unplugging and replugging the fridge, just as soon as the water runs in the first time to make ice.

Prefect OEM replacement part for my Samsung side-by-side RS265TDRS/XAA fridge ice-maker
The old part gave out after 8 years, so I called Samsung to ask what to do, after running through all the tips with no good results. Rather than take the repair appointment they suggested, I decided to go on YouTube to find a DYI video. There was one specifically addressing my repair. The part came the day after I ordered it (very fast service), and the repair was very straightforward. It took longer to move the food in and out of the freezer than it did to remove the half-dozen or so screws (they are different lengths, so pay attention to which ones go where), remove the failed unit, swap the back grill on it to the new part, then install the new unit with the old screws. No instructions came with the part, but they weren’t needed. As soon as I turned the power to the fridge, the new unit started working, and now we have ice again. Make sure you put the model number into the YouTube search box and you will get the correct instructional video. There were a couple of things I did differently than the video showed, but they were just common sense things, such as a couple of screws not mentioned, etc.

Works Great! Slight problem with installation
The ice maker works great and was not too bad to replace. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time and in good condition. The one issue I had was that this replacement ice maker does not come with the plastic heat shield so you have to take the one off of your old ice maker and put it on this one. That should not have been a problem because it is a matter of removing two screws on the old one to take off the heat shield. However, on mine the screws on the old heat shield were too big and did not fit into the new ice maker. I did manage to find some screws around the house that I could make work but it would have been nice too know this beforehand. It certainly would have saved some frustration on my end. Also, had I known this I would most definitely have purchased both a new heat shield with new screws that would fit into the new ice maker. I would recommend to the seller that they make it clear on this items page that it does not come with a heat shield or the screws to attach it, and that transferring the old heat shield over is required. Also if the seller made these two items available on this items page I bet they would have many people buying them.
