Perfect for an properly sized tire

My hinges were shot from Colorado mag chloride, and having around a 37" tire for 23 years. This was a perfect replacement. The hinge weighs more than the tailgate, so I am sure it is sturdy. Easy of installation would be 5 starts as it is very easy to install....once you have the old hinges off, which is next to impossible to do. The factory Torx bolts are difficult.

Nice & Sturdy but...........

The hinge is a nice addition to my jeep and solved a chronic tailgate rattle that was driving me crazy. It was relatively easy to install with the provided instructions and looks nice. There was only two issues I had with this product. 1) The two shims that were supposed to be included with the hinge were nowhere to be found. They are used to mount your spare tire bracket to the jeep after you install the hinge. I ended up making my own shims using stacks of washers to achieve the desired thickness. 2) The "Rugged Ridge" nameplate that is on the hinge is mounted upside down. I figured I'd leave this issue alone as I'll just drive around with their advertising logo upside down proudly displaying their lack of quality control on something so simple to inspect. See picture!

Very much needed for the added big wheel

This is a very nice piece and very sturdy wasn't hard to install but I got rid of the 3rd light and mount because it interfere with 3 wiper and so I added a different type of 3rd light. Advice is to put alittle heat on the torx because they will either probably break or round out torx head. Good and a must if you are going to mount that big wheel.

Great Alternative!

Great alternative to a bumper mounted tire carrier. Has no problem supporting 35s though I had to remove the stock bumper to get the tailgate to close. The stock bumper extends out too far if you are running a larger tire.

Good for 35” on TJ

Good product for Tj’s for a 35” tire. You will need the HD tire carrier as well. Best to buy them together. The stock one with a spacer made a rattle. With the proper set up of both, no rattle even while offroad. Heat up the old hinge bolts with small propane torch or you will break the torx bolts. It’s easy, just heat for a min or two.
