A good thing
This is a simple and uncomplicated dust pan and brush. I wish the brush was a little softer and the whole thing a little more compact like the last Rubbermaid one I had for about 10 years which wore out.

Used for under couch and chair
I have animals that regularly push things under the couch and the chair. My arm is short and cannot reach all the way to the wall. The broom is long but doesn't keep contact with ground for more than the tips. If I have the broom laying on the ground, it is only a little bit of the broom touching ground. I needed something I could hold, and control where it went, but also know I am getting things swept up. It is also small enough to fit in my litter box enclosure. I have a bench looking thing that has an opening on the side for the cat. The top lifts up for cleaning out the litter box. The cat knocks litter out of the box often, but its just like anywhere else you might have the litter box, litter gets outside it. So I would take the litter box out and clean out the enclosure. Previously it would just be papertowels and my hand to get the excess litter out, but this little brush fits inside and I can brush all to one spot, put into the litter duster. I will also finish up with a small hand vaccuum that does not have enough pull to get the stuff in corners (which is where this little hand broom came into play)

Should be terrific - rubber strip is good
I'm writing this review primarily to show folks the rubber strip via the attached photo, since a few folks have had issues with the rubber strip bending and not lying flat. The one I received was just perfect. The rest of the dustpan combo is, well, a dustpan - a nice heavy duty one. The brush seems to work but does not "snap" as markedly into the handle as the brush on the combo I am replacing. Not an issue, really - it snaps, but seems like it might shake loose. Oh well, I can live with it - it's a dustpan and brush, and it seems exactly what I'd expect from a reputable maker like Rubbermaid.

Good design but I prefer the old kind of brush bristles, not the black plastic ones. I’m happy with it. If I have small jobs around the house it’s not cumbersome like a big broom. With dogs (pets), its used a lot. I don’t mind the dust pan and handle being a tough plastic, but the bristles? We should be trying to cut down on plastics right? The old bristles moved better too.

Love using it!
A few reviews mention how small or narrow this is but I bought it for this very reason as I use this primarily to pick up crumbs and spot clean. The bristles are firm enough to flick the dirt out of my daughter's textured playmate. I did experience the dirtlines mentioned by many with the lip design but i could still get the dirt up with a couple more sweeps. I was ok with it as the rubber lip because it provides a good seal rather than dirt escaping below and going behind the pan as I had experienced with other dustpans. The bristles do pick up hairs and longer hairs do get caught in the bristles requiring one to pull them out but then again, this is no different from cleaning out vacuum cleaner broom heads. I love the grip especially. It has a nice rubber grip than you can wrap your palms comfortably and i am a small person of about 110lbs. No square edges to hurt your palm.

Not good for cat litter
I always thought dust pans were all pretty much the same and definitely never thought I'd be picky about a dust pan, but here I am. I guess I'm not really that mad about the dust pan itself, I think it's the hand broom that comes with it that is the problem here. I bought this to keep with the litter boxes because our other one kept disappearing into the garage or wherever else my fiancé decides to take on a "project" (eyeroll). My complain with this broom is that it literally just flings the cat litter or whatever else I'm trying to sweep everywhere except into the dustpan. I don't know if the bristles are too thick and long or if the pan is to shallow, or both, but I have the hardest time getting catching anything in the dustpan. If you're buying this to clean stuff off your floors, save yourself the frustration and get a different brand or model. Our other dustpan/broom set is literally duct taped together at this point and still works 10 times better than this one does.

Good brush, nice deep pan
I like the depth of the pan, great for large piles and pet hair. Good, sturdy brush, not too soft. The serrated edge is for scraping off the brush, you ding-dongs!

Exactly what I wanted
Not sure why you’re Purchasing this but it was absolutely perfect for me. My cat kicks out a lot of litter every day. I am in a wheelchair and a regular broom is difficult. This is absolutely perfect for me and it works great!

Depending on what you need
If you need a firm bristle brush then buy away. If you are in need of a more soft bristle brush then this isn’t for you. I bought this set not expecting the bristles to be so hard. So was sadly disappointed.Don’t really care for the serrated edges on the pan? Haven’t quite figured out why they are there but are a tad sharp. Does have a nice grip on the brush handle. The thing that I don’t like about it is the rubber edge on the pan. Doesn’t really become flush with the surface you are dusting which means it can take several attempts to clean up the mess at hand. So depending on your brushing needs this may or may not be for you.

Great item to have in the kitchen
I bought this so I could keep it under the sink in the kitchen so I don’t have to get the broom from front hall snd it makes for easier clean up.
