Some troubles, but worked out.
If you are looking for perfect cubes coming out of the freezer, it is best to look for trays that have actual molds built into them. These are not it. After some trials and error, I found that it is best to have the water level be in the middle or under the tray height. The freezing temp, tray leveling, and location has to be in a good location if there are also other food in your freezer. That way the water doesn't freeze in layers to prevent breaking into shards and pieces. Definitely better in terms of no odor and taste than the silicone ones I tried. Only thing is, it isn't easy to maneuver or put away as the silicone. I still don't trust it enough to just try to full force pull the lever if there is no give. I let it sit on the counter for a few more minutes. Feels like it can bend. It's going take some getting use to with this honestly. Overall, I think any other tray like this that costs more or less will be the same experience. Since they use the same kind of mechanism. Only thing I can think of differently is if another brand uses different stainless or something.

If you don’t have an icemaker or it’s broken, use this to make ice!
This is a 1950s-1970s style ice tray and it’s great! Just turn it upside down run water over the bottom of the tray for 15 seconds, turn it right side up, light the handle up, and you have ice! No twisting the plastic trays trying to get the ice to come out, The handle sepates the ice cubes and they easily come out. Great product - I had forgotten all about them until I saw it on Amazon.

RSVP Endurance Ice Cube Trays do NOT endure performance in under one year.
This product was purchased less than a year ago and the stainless steel lever consistenty now slips out of the bracket that allows the arm to return to a flat position after refilling with water. I do not see a contact number for RSVP to see if they can be helpful with a replacement unit. I purchased two trays and one does not work well at all. Does not seem like this China company wants to really offer help or assistance to customers. At $16 each for the trays, I would have hoped they will have a longer working performance without having handle issues. Very disappointed, especially since "googling" contact info is hard to find that is helpful with a customer service number or email address. Beware...if you buy these

Plastic free ice
Holding up well so far, breaker bar seems kind of flimsy so I make sure I don't force it to break up the ice. I run water over the bottom of it and top to melt the ice a little then if it won't break up I let it sit for a couple of minutes. Works fine then. Fill no more than 3/4 full.

Works great if you take your time
I bought these because I wanted to reduce my exposure to plastic and silicone. They’re definitely not as easy to use as regular ice trays but once you get the hang of them, they work great. I followed the advice of another reviewer and only fill the trays 3/4 full. I also slide/shuffle them against my granite countertop for about 10 seconds (thermal transfer), until I start hearing the ice making faint sizzling/crackling sounds. Then I pull the lever, not too forcefully at first (after a few uses you can tell when it’s too stiff to pull). If the ice seems like it won’t “give”, I move the trays to a new part of the counter and redo the sliding/shuffling, then try the lever again. Usually by the second time the ice is ready to go. I don’t understand the science that well but marble & granite both thaw frozen things very quickly in general, and this method works for me a lot better than running the trays under water.

forget the rest, this is the real deal
So easy to use, no chemicals from silicone or plastic. Your great-grandmother used these types of ice trays. When you're ready to empty the tray, leave it on the counter for a few minutes, then slowly pull up on the lever and empty into a container. I'll be ordering one more...

Works for juice cubes not ice
Not good for ice. Works well with ginger cubes

Just Like the Old Days
So glad I found this old school ice tray!! Was using silicone for a while but it’s not easy to get the cubes out. This old fashioned ice tray is just what I was looking for! Perfect ice cubes every time! I did think it was a little pricey for an ice tray though.

Buy it for life item
I find the silicone ice trays add a taste to the ice and it ruins my drinks. This item adds no odor or taste to the ice. It is expensive by ice tray standards and doesn't produce a lot of ice cubes, but I believe I will be able to keep it for the rest of my life. I've found it's best to run cold water along the bottom of the tray before you pull the lever to separate the frozen cubes.

Plastic-Free Ice!
Never again the taste of plastic and freezer weirdness in one's ice cubes! I love this device, made of clean, non-reactive stainless steel, it makes nice sharp ice-cubes that have not been tainted by the tray they're in. There could be some directions included telling the user not to fill the tray up too high. If the ice is too thick, it's very hard to pull up the lever to break the ice. There's also a risk of breaking the handle if you're having to really yank on it. It's not flimsy or anything, but subjecting the mechanism to too much force wouldn't be good. It's like any tool—it works perfectly if used with care and attention, rather than abuse. It takes a bit of getting used to—just don't fill the tray right to the top—but once you've used it a few times it's a delight. I'm really trying to get away from the life of plastic. That may prove impossible, but using this stainless steel ice tray every day makes me feel like I am making a good start!.

Well worth the hassle
I personally really enjoy it, but I think some people would find it quite complicated. One thing that annoys me is once you have cracked the ice by pulling the lever up, to get it out it's basically necessary to take out the metal dividers and lever section. Which means the remaining pieces could refreeze and form a sheet if you're not careful (i.e. if you don't put the dividers back asap and put it all into the freezer again!). Well worth the hassle in my opinion, and so much better than silicone or plastic alternatives I have previously used, but it is definitely not a 'simple' ice tray. It's also expensive, but very good quality materials.

Garbage item. Will end up there I’m sure
This item is quite useless. Impossible to pull the handle. Once the top is free the cubes stick in the middle part. If you can actually get the handle to release it just shatters the ice into bits. What it does make are small broken ice pieces. The handle broke on the third use. Cant even return it because I don’t have purolater courier access. Finally now after dealing with Amazon regarding a different package that never arrived, Amazon found a way for me to return this via Canada post and has promised a full refund. Sent off today and hoping for the best. Shame on the sellers lack of customer service and inability to communicate. Good on Amazon staff for letting me return it even after so much time passed trying to contact the seller unsuccessfully for so long…

Great Quality, good for cocktails
I really like this ice mold. Trying to get away from using so many plastics, so I figured it best to kick it back to the old stainless. Really enjoy it so far, only a few weeks in but it is good.
