Comfortable and needs little break in. Insole is terrible.

Have been using this boot for three months now, so this is an edited review. I had the same model boot from 10 years ago. I used the boot for general winter wear in snow, farm work, and hiking in the summer. The leather quality isn't as good as the old boot and the sole is much less aggressive. The insole of the older boot was a 10 but it eventually got hard and had to be replaced. I tried to contact Rockport for a new insole, but got no response, so I had to go with a generic insole. The boot maintained it's waterproofing the entire time. The sole of the old boots started to detach so I replaced the boots. The new boot has a worthless insole (I give it a 2) with an initially good feel for daily use and working farm chores and short walk of a mile or less., but after a 5 mile hike in hilly terrain training llamas on a dirt trail my feet were absolutely killing me. No insole foot support whatsoever. After the hike my feet felt like the factory insoles were made of wood. Immediately get some high quality insoles if you buy this boot. The ankle has more support and comfort around the top of ankle and is greatly improved over the old boot. Break in was non existent for me, since my foot was accustomed to the boot style, and the new ankle opening. The old boots gave me ten years of good service. I expect this one to do as well with the Ortho Feet insoles. Hope this helps.

Nice looking shoe. Easy to break in.. The insoles are very thin, so you will need to great some good orthotics.

Easy walker

This Rockport is as great as has been for a long time. This is great price for me with this boot. Easy on the feet, easy on the cash. Hard to beat that combination. Never mind the 72 hour delivery to my front door.

Comfy

Fit was perfect, not too hot for full day wear, water resistant but not waterproof. These live up to the Rockport name and exceed my Merrell in comfort.

Nice, well fitting boot

This is one of the nicest hiking boots I have bought. It is light and has good traction. The fit is good and they are really comfortable to walk in, I find myself wearing them all the time.

DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING

I have two major issues with this boot. I started wearing these as a daily work boot on 12/23/2021 and immediately noticed that they squeaked with every step. I figured as I broke them in they would quiet down, but after over a month of wearing them still no luck. That drove me nuts but wasn’t enough to make me try to send them back because the boot is relatively comfortable and functional. On 2/17/22 after less than two months of ownership the outer layer of the shoe string just came apart as I was trying to lace my boots up before work this morning. I’ve had Red Wings for up to 2-3 years working in them daily without ever even thinking about having to replace the laces. A real work boot should be made to last…including the laces. And they shouldn’t annoy a person with every step you take by squeaking either. Overall I’m just not happy with these boots and do not recommend spending money on them.

Nice shoes

Good looking shoes, very comfortable. A little bit squeaky noise arising from synthetic top of tongue, can be reduced by putting on a cotton tape. Tongue is partially gusseted. Outsole is not aggressive enough for serious hiker, but more than enough for light hiking or street walk.

Comfort at its best

Bought these boots for walking/hiking tour of Iceland and Ireland. My second pair of Rockport boots and these were no disappointment! After a trial breaking period of a one day10 km walk, they were broken in and ready for my big trip. In the 8 day trip, I walked/hiked about 200 km. No blisters, no sore feet at all! Well worth the $100.
