Retrofitted to an Old Weller T-WCP-L Iron (See details under BA60 Barrel Review)
Scritto da: W
Fits multiple irons
I got this as a spare for my 1983 Weller TCP European iron which was not working due to the magnetic temperature control switch being faulty (replaced and reviewed separately) It’s 50w rather than 45w but it is 24v and physically fits and screws into the iron handle and the standard bits fit it Yes, the metal tube is slightly wider so you have to order the new threaded sleeve, but that’s a small price to pay to keep this iron going Here’s to another 40 years of sterling service from it Highly recommended!

Second time I've had to replace this part.
Changing this out is tough as there isn't a lot of room inside the irons handle for the three twist on connectors. The heater conductor is nichrome wire and can't be soldered, so use only two of the twist on terminals and solder and shrink sleeve the ground wire. Goes together much easier. My iron doesn't use the plug in heater, because it's 50 years old. You'll need to replace the barrel too. This replacement is larger in diameter than my old heater element. All your old tips will still work just fine. A professional soldering iron is a lifetime purchase. Maybe I need to put a 40 watt resistor in the circuit to reduce the AC to the iron.

redesigned part works well
This part replaces the older version of the heater with a redesigned unit. It accommodates the old tips. It has a wider outside dimension and a bigger heater and requires that you also purchase the new BA60 barrel as the original one will no longer fit. My Weller soldering stations are 30 years old and they still work fine. Weller always has replacement parts so there is minimal down time. I keep a full set of iron replacement parts in stock so there is never more than 30 minutes down time. You can comply with RoHS simply by replacing the tip as all the new tips comply.

Parts fit my 30-year old Weller WTCP iron
Finally needed a replacement heating element for my 30-year old Weller WTCP soldering station. Read feedback warning that would also need a BA60 barrel nut to accommodate the slightly larger replacement heating element, so ordered that as well. Installed fine, now have a refurbished soldering iron. Love the feel of this iron, glad that parts are still available.

This is a redesigned heater assembly!
The price was good and I received it without delay but this turned out to be a redesigned heater assembly and the old tip retainer would not fit over the new heater. I had to order the new retainer part number, BA60 described as "Barrel Nut", after receiving the heater. This resulted in unnecessary delay and another shipping charge. The produce description should have noted the redesign and instructed that the BA60 would also need to be ordered or the BA60 should have been included with the new heater assembly.

Proper, factory part. Make sure to get matching nut if needed.
This is a correct Weller factory replacement, as you can see from the price. Nothing to complain about at all. NOTE: If you are replacing a very old heating element, you may need the matching Barrel Nut for this part as the thread size is slightly larger. From what I can tell, it seems like an improvement to one of the weaknesses of the older part so it is worth the extra few dollars.

You gotta be kidding me!
After over an hour of wrestling with cramming everything back in the handle, I find that this is not for my WTCP Qeller Soldering iron! Not happy! The stupid thing widens such that it's too fat for the sleeve to fit over it. What the heck?
