Noisy, but easily fixed

This is perfect for a 130lb Outslayer heavy bag. It was a bit boisy when I'd start laying into the bag so I had to put a wrap on it. Now its completely silent! I silenced it by wrapping 550 chord around the grooves of the spring and tying it off at each end. Then I wrapped it with two layers of electrical tape. Perfect.

Case by case

So I bought this based on another review. And it has to be connected a certain way I think. I hung my bag and it didn’t make a difference, and it also made my bag to low as well. You need a high ceiling to make it work. I only have 8” (2.44m) and with my set up it doesn’t work. I’ll continue to finagle things.

STURDY SPRING

I used the spring to off set the bounce caused by the heavy bag once you hang it. This spring is sturdy and durable, I will purchase more for my other bags.

TOO STRONG FOR 70 POUND BAGS!

This spring is solid, and perfect for heavier bags. However, I purchased this for my 70lb Everlast Everstrike bag and the spring is far too strong. The spring remains fully compressed even under the weight of the bag, which negates any benefit from having a spring. I swapped it for Ringside Heavy Bag Spring (not the heavy duty version) and that spring works perfectly for my 70lb bag. I wish this information was more obvious in the product description.

Gets the job done. Raw, unfinished steel. I sprayed a coat of tool enamel on mine to stave off rust.

LOVE this spring I just wish it were shorter...

The spring itself as far as the effect that it has on the movement of the bag is great. Instead of swinging when hit, the bag tends to bounce almost and IMO that makes for a better workout because there is less predictability in the movement of the bag (I have a 100 lb. bag) after being struck. My problem is (and this is totally my fault) that I am using a stand which is only 7' high to begin with. Once I add this spring it makes the position of the bag way too low for me at 6' tall. Such a bummer because I really like the difference the spring makes (and it is a big difference) but it doesn't allow me to train properly since the top of the bag with the spring comes down to barely eye level. So, if you are thinking about buying this to use with a hanging bag that is suspended from an 8' ceiling then I highly recommend this. If you are an average sized male with a heavy bag stand, this will probably not work for you unfortunately.

Way too stiff for 100lb bag

This is a really really high quality spring, especially for the price. However, you definitely need a bag that's above 120lbs for this to actually have any effect of absorbing force. My 100lb bag didn't even budge it. When I put 20lbs of weights hanging off the chain it was effective at absorbing some of the shock from punches. However, I went to my local hardware store and spent $7 for a spring that worked much better for my 100lb bag.

Solid spring, narrow hooks.

Solid spring, no issues whatsoever for the purpose of holding a heavy bag. Only thing that came up was that the hooks are more narrow than the meister joint I got, so the spring would "jump" back and forth making a loud noise (when the bag was punched/swayed along a 1 specific axis), but it's died down now. No issues otherwise.

Perfect for my 120lb aqua training bag

Used it to secure my 120 lb Aqua Training Bag. The bag is installed as pictured, braced across three joists in our basement. Before, uppercuts horribly shook the house and all other punches were unpleasantly noisy. Installed this spring. Now you can still hear the heaviest punches, but zero vibration, all of it is absorbed by the spring. At same time, the bag doesn’t bounce or really respond differently then before. The perfect spring for the bag.

Does what it's supposed to for good value

Works really well on my 125 lb bag. Makes a huge difference in noise in the main house when I hit my bag in the basement as I have it hung from the floor joist. It does make the make bag jump quite a bit more however. The bounce is minimal and predictable, but it does take a bit to get used to it. Although it sounds loud while I hit my bag, my wife and children assure me it is MUCH quieter upstairs. I did have to remove the entire top section of chain from my bag to get it to hang where I like it.
