They work

Fairly easy to install. Replaced original ceiling smoke detectors that were installed when my house was first built in 1996. I didn’t realize these also had co2 monitors which I didn’t really need as I don't have gas appliances, etc. I believe these are supposed to be replaced every 10 years? So? We shall see.

Loved the Install!

I replaced six hard-wired smoke detectors with these combo smoke/carbon monoxide units. I specifically picked Kidde so that the wiring connection would be the same, thus eliminating the need to mess with the wires in the ceiling. Made things very easy. Warning: Be aware that half the alarms went through a self test once I pulled the tab on the battery. (Every test sets off every alarm in the system, and it is loud!) Suggestion for bifocal or progressive lens wearers: Grab your computer glasses; you're going to be right up top with the ceiling and the near-vision lens help prevent craning your neck. Final comment: I thought that carbon monoxide testers need to be relatively close to the floor, so I have kept the two detectors that were already installed in place. Just me.

Value for the money

They say you need to replace your smoke/CO2 detectors every 10 years. Our old detectors were in need of changing. We purchased these because we got a better value. These are hardwired and battery backup detectors. These also talk - if there is a fire it will say fire and if there is CO2 it will say CO2. You will know what the problem is when it goes off.

A direct replacement for my old discontinued model.

I have a hardwired smoke detector system, consisting of 3 smoke only & 1 smoke/carbon monoxide combo unit. There is a set replace time for the combo unit and mine expired (@2am) on night. This causes the unit to produce chirps every 30-60 seconds or so, not the same as when the backup battery dies. I didn't know and replaced the battery, which of course did not stop the replace unit warning chirps. The good news is, I bought this unit and not only did it come with everything I needed, since they were the same brand the base & wiring harness (hardwire connector) were the same. Huge time saver, as all I had to do was plug in the connector for the power/interconnect, install the included battery, and mount it back into the existing base. Some other key takeaways: It controlled and was controlled by my other detectors (interconnect). I have not had one false alarm as other reviews have mentioned (follow the instructions). Easy to test. Loud alert with voice notification of event (fire or carbon monoxide detected). Comparatively priced (see unit on manufacturer's website $$$). Spare ac/interconnect harness (since old one is compatible). Don't have to change base if using same brand (I think all are universal from Kidde). I have Prime, so fast free delivery. I am happy to have had a simple experience replacing my old unit, and most importantly, we can feel safe that we have protection again.

Careful to check what you receive

Received a similar-looking unit that was 9V battery only, not a 120VAC wired unit with battery back up. Returned to vendor with no issues. Make sure to inspect what you receive.

The media could not be loaded. The alarm was easy to install and work as advertised, will update my review later.
