Gap issue can be fixed!

As others have reported, there is an excessive gap between the frame hinge and the door hinge in the closed position. The good news is that there is an easy remedy to the problem. Place the hinge in the fully opened position in a vice and tighten as pictured. The hinge will bend at the joint to allow it to close much tighter in the closed position. I did this several times until I got the hinge gap down to about 1/8". It does require some effort to do this. so perhaps this won't work using a light duty vice. (I removed one star due to the needed rework). Other than that the hinges were perfect. The black finish looks good and they are heavy duty. The pins look like they are removeable so that the hinges can be flipped to use on either left or right handed doors. 24 black screws of varying lengths are also provided. Black finish hinges like these are hard to find and can run close to $50 for three. This was a great deal at this price, and with a little tweaking they work very well.

Fix gap with Channellock, quick and easy.

As others mentioned, these hinges are not flush. We put them on as is and were unable to close the door. Saw the review about using a vice but my husband opened the hinge outward and applied slight pressure with a channellock (tongue and groove pliers) which tightened the hinge and made the hinge perfectly flush (see picture, hard to explain in writing). This fixed the issue with the door closing. Was a super easy fix.

Screws are not cheap and don't grab.

I ended up needing to use a screw with more bite. So now the screws don't match the hinge.

Pins installed upside down

These were not an exact replacement. My doors are about twenty years old. The radius side fit fine. However, the square side holes were not an exact fit. The hinges actually pushed the door away from the door seal some. Once i figured out what was wrong and I aligned the door correctly and redrilled the holes the hinges worked. The hinges still squeaked some so had to add some WD-40. So as an advance handyman they worked but do not expect an exact one for one replacement on older doors. Additionally one pack of short screws were missing.

Exactly what I needed

Swapped out my silver hinges to black. These were exactly what I needed. But I need to give some heads up…from a guy who has installed thousands of doors. These hinges are only for doors that swing into the house. If they swing out, they don’t have the security screw in the pin to make them safe for outside use. Someone can just come and pop the pin out and break in fairly easily. The hinges have a gap when closed….that’s by design. When your hinges are flush with the jamb and the door, you need the 1/8” for the reveal. The amount of people saying this is an issue, so not have proper reveals on their doors. This is likely a user error. You do not need to modify the hinge. For our swing you can use one in the middle but you need to order a 2 pack of hinges that have a security screw in the pin. It comes with enough screws for each hinge. Very happy with it. 3 short ones, 4 longer ones and 1 long one per hinge
