Fit perfectly
Worked great

Good
Worked perfectly. The equivalent part on my ~10 year old Murray lawn mower wasn't listed anymore and had worn out and wouldn't hold the blade solidly. Bought this and it bolted onto the existing 7/8" shaft perfectly. I did have to order a new blade that fits this specific type of adapter but that was expected. If your prior blade is in good condition and already fits this type of mount it won't be necessary.

Is not an exact replacement for my old adapter.
This is the replacement for my adapter and it went right on; but, it is shorter than the OEM on my Murry. I had to drop my mower almost all the way down to get it to cut at the height I like and my deck drags now and catches any roots, sticks, pine cones, sticks, leaves, etc. and piles them up in front (with the exception of the roots which just stop me abruptly). I did use this with the dethatching blade that has the heavy trimmer cord at the regular height settings and it worked fine, but has to be dropped down with a regular blade. I will be trying to weld up and grind-to-fit the old one.

Don't believe the reviews about the part being weak .
I read the reviews that said the metal was weak and broke . The blade adaptor kit I got was manufactured by MTD, the company that builds the lawnmowers and parts. The parts I got are the same parts they use to build the lawnmower. These aren't parts made by a no name company. I put this blade adaptor on my Craftsman 140 CC mower ( the red one with high wheels- bought 2013) and used the lawnmower to cut heavy brush. It cut thru 1/2 inch size sticks on the ground for about an hour and worked perfectly fine. I'm clearing about a half acre field and I use a lawnmower and a Ryobi string trimmer with a brush cutter attachment. I go over heavy thickets with the lawnmower and it pulverizes the woody sections . The people who had broken parts had to be mowing at the lowest possible mower height. I have it at the highest height possible and I cut the grass really short. It's normal height grass now. I hit hard objects about 7 times in one hour and it stopped the mower each time. Each time it started up and ran perfect. This part is very strong and you won't break it cutting grass. If it didn't break with me cutting heavy thickets then it won't break on you.

MTD Mower Adapter
Got a mower for $0 all it needed was a blade and adapter. This worked perfect.

Short blade adaptor
I used this on my Big rear wheeled push mower with a 5 horse motor. The tabs that the blade indented into had worn and the blade would not lock to the shaft. The original was about 15 years old so I expect this one to last a long time. This part is made of metal not aluminum and will last a long time. For the reviewer that thinks this should be made of aluminum to brake if your blade strikes a solid object that is not how it should work. There is a aluminum key on the shaft between it and the flywheel. That is what is supposed to break and is much cheaper to replace. If you need to long adaptor that number is #748-0377C. The long adapter will lower your blade about 1 inch and the blade will be below the deck if you need the short one. this is dangerous so order the correct one.

Broke after 30 min of mowing without any blade strikes.
When I was shopping for this, I agreed with the review from CJC. This part should be a mechanical fuse to prevent damage to more expensive components when you have a blade strike. After purchasing it and installing it though, I now agree with other reviewers that this casting is weak and brittle. I installed this item, and after only 30 minutes of mowing I heard a random pop coming from under the mower deck. I shut off the mower moving from my front yard to the back, and when I tried to re-start the mower, I heard a terrible racket, and the mower would not start. After that, I could not pull the start cord. I unplugged the spark plug, then lifted the mower to check underneath. I found this item split into three pcs. I did not have any blade strikes, and I know that it was not overtorqued during install. Perhaps I just got a defective one, but it seems consistent with other reviews. It must not have been a blade balance issue, because I re-installed my original one which was already cracked from a blade strike, and was able to finish the lawn. If the blade were far enough out of balance to break this one, the old cracked one certainly would not have lasted. UPDATE: I purchased another replacement adapter from another vendor to replace this one that randomly split into three. My new replacement was $4.00 more than this one, but was not labeled "Arnold Corporation" like this one is. The new replacement cam in a sealed plastic bag that was printed with the MTD logo. This Arnold one came in a clear plastic bag but did not have an MTD logo on it. The new one in the MTD bag also looked more like the original. It was not a smooth or shiny as the "Arnold" one, and did not have the "PS" letters on the casting. The new MTD (non-Arnold) adaptor has now held up through two mows with no issues. It cost me $4.00 more than this one, but is well worth the extra money.

Better than the original hub
Hub went on in seconds.....far better than trying to hold square key in slot while attaching hub and blade together.

This broke after maybe 6 uses?
For some reason I've been nervous ever since installing this, despite feeling like a quality item and installing easily. Well i just finished using it the other day and my wife noticed some hunk of metal on the ground outside the garage and asked me if i knew what it was. Thinking i had just left a piece of it in the garage on a shelf, i told her what it was, recognizing it immediately, only to find out she found it on the ground in the backyard outside the garage. Inspecting our mower, its about a third the size of the mower anchor piece that it belongs to and its where the key is to the piece thats missing. IF i had used it again after this, it would have likely lost the blade in use which is super terrifying, not only for myself but I also have small kids around (we have a large backyard so they'd be where I wasnt cutting, but something like this might not matter). I'm going to assume the metal of the lawnmower would stop it from flying like a frisbee and wouldjust scare the crap out of me but I have to admit, my stomach lurched when i saw it was broken on the mower. Anyway, not knowing how or why that broke, i cant honestly say it would be a good idea to purchase one of this brand. Maybe it was tightened too much? I doubt it as I read how overtightening can cause fractures so I was cognizant of it when i put it together. All that to say, product DOES feel like it would be good but find this on the ground a day after cutting the lawn has me worried, so i'd say buyer beware? and make sure you are conscious of how much you are tightening it. Anything can break if you overtighten, no matter the quality, so just be aware of what you are doing when you assemble it.

Works like a charm
Excellent product; Fits perfectly; Small engine mechanic told me that the adapter can break if you mow over a rock or curb. Just common sense to avoid them. This is OEM from Troy-Bilt but can fit other mowers including MTD of mine. I bought a universal 22 inch replacement blade from Atlas (Canadian Tire) which fits the adapter perfectly. The confusion is that there are multiple part numbers for the same part: 753-06315, 753-0588, 748-0376E, 748-0376C, 748-0376 fits MTD: 46 SP, 53 SP, 383 SP, 384 SP, 410, 508, 510, E 458, GES 45 Q, GES 46, GES 53, HBM 50, M 46, RP-21, SB 46, YM 4018 S, YM 5018 S, YM 5518 SE Replaces Old Part Numbers: 748-0376 748-0376A 748-0376B 748-0376C The curious thing is that it costs less even after exchange difference than to buy from Amazon.com and is half the price than Canadian Tire

It breaks easy, not recommended.
I purchased this item 2 times. First time it lasted for one summer and broke. Second time, I only used twice again it splits from middle. Not good quality of metal and NOT SAFE BECAUSE IT IS HOLDING THE SPINNING BLADE. I will buy it from MTD, origonal supplier next time. I dont recommend.
