Perfect replacement! 18yr old Richmond tank
Perfect fit, exact match. I was skeptical at first but it is identical to the old one I took of my 18 yr old Richmond. Came with the gasket like advertised. Is a Rheem manufacturer. It is a 4500/3380 (dual element). The one pictured is the old element (same as the new one). This is my first time changing an element and it ended up being a 4min job after gathering a Philips screwdriver, my new 1.5" element socket ($5), OHMs/voltage meter and a older towel. I had to do some research but it's a simple job if you know alittle about general house work. -Turn off power to water heater at breaker box. -Take covers off side (top/bottom). - double check that power is off by checking for voltage. -remove both wires to element. -check for OHMs, if there is no reading that is a bad element.(no reading=broken connection/bad element) -turn off the inlet water shut-off valve. -i didn't drain tank, I had the new element and towel ready and made the quick switch with about a quart of water spill onto the towel. It went very well! Just be very careful to not strip the threads and be ready to put the old one back in if there's complications. I may be missing a step but it's not as bad as I thought at first. I didn't measure the length but it fit in without issue, (eyeballed it on top of the tank, looked reasonable) I hope this helps someone who has never done this before, I was going to buy a new tank but I figure for the price it's worth a new element while I save a few bucks a month for a new tank later. Happy fixing!

Amazon comes through again.
My hot water heater did not supply hot water any more. I called manufacture and was give website where to order parts. So, I went do their website and ordered parts. was going to be delivered in one day (paid overnight FedEx). However being without hot water in this day and age is really really not good. Thought for a moment and said to myself what about Amazon. And sure enough they had it and delivery was possible to be next day. Amazon delivered, as promised, next day. I was very happy, thank you. heater was fixed within two hours of delivery. Manufacture part delivery did not happen until following day.

My 27 year old water heater is alive again.
Works well and easy to install. - Comes with gasket. At first I didn't see it, but it's wrapped around the part with the model number. - my original part number was AP10552MH , the part number on amazon ad is SP10552MH. this fits. As you can see by my photo the new element has almost the same number as my old one. Not sure why. it does fit and work. - this is one of the easiest repairs you can do, I'd recommend watching a video or two if you've never done it before.

Fits like it should once you find hidden o-ring on plastic of element, and remove old element
Brand name threw me at first. PROTECH is what I received. Expected Rheem branding since that is how the product is listed. When I first looked at the element it didn't appear to include the o-ring seal. Now what do I do? Pulled the element out of the packaging which only covers the connector end of the element. Element itself is not protected/covered. Looked a little closer and found the o-ring seal was there. It just blended in to the black plastic. It was on the opposite side from where you place it for mounting. So look closely before you worry you didn't receive the o-ring seal. (And make sure to move it to the correct mounting location too.) For you first time installers that have never removed an old element, make sure to have access to the 1 1/2" socket and an impact wrench to make the removal a breeze. Any other option to remove may prove too frustrating and/or painful.

Typical EFC Lori an element on the water heater that goes bad first. To replace the heating element fresh cut ...
Not much to it, it did the job. I live in a condo and I noticed there wasn't enough hot water. Many people have been getting new water heaters, but instead of replacing the unit I decided to troubleshoot the problem. All you need to test your water heater is an OHM meter. Air many videos on YouTube to show you how to do this. Typical EFC Lori an element on the water heater that goes bad first. To replace the heating element fresh cut off the electric power to the water heater. Then drain the water heater. Remove the old element using a special water heater element socket, and screw in the new one. FI'll the tank turn on the power and it's fixed, It's a lot less time, money and hassle than replacing the water heater.

Years added to WH Life.
Simple install that will add years to the life of my water heater. Installation was easy, when I turned the power back on, it is so quiet heating the water, initially was not sure if the power was on! Highly recommended!
