She'll be remembered
The media could not be loaded. Haven't tackled the rigging and flags yet, but will in the future. Not bad looking at all. Made my share of mistakes, but overall I'm happy with it. UPDATE: 10/30/22 Did the rigging and flags as best I could. I used 8 lb braided fishing line in Moss Green color. The flagging, we'll let's say I still need some practice and leave it that. This is a piece of history that I will proudly have on my display shelf.

Good model if you add photo etch parts kit
I was lucky enough to find the photo etch parts kit specifically made for this model on eBay. It can still be found if you look around. It makes the model! Of course you have to cut away all the clunky plastic railings and gun shields, but I took my time with an Xacto blade and the results were worth it. I built the ship whole and sunk it into a foam diorama base I made with Acrylic Modelling paste and and clear Acrylic Gel applied over acrylic paint. Like most models, you get out what you put into it.

Straight forward but sort of not.
When doing the assembly and reading the instructions, it talks of the plastic trays through letters, however, these sprues do not have letters on the sprues based upon what I could find. Moreover the piece numbers are hard to read if almost non-existent. But overall this was relatively easy to assemble.

SAILING SOLO FOR THE FIRST TIME!
"It makes me think that I'm building the Arizona itself. I'm the dry dock, and I'm building it." The words of my 9-year-old son, who pretty much put this together on his own. He has been fascinated with World War II for about a third of his life (since he was 6), and we even gave him a Pearl Harbor cake for his last birthday. As the school year is coming to an end, he decided that he wanted to begin putting the model together while I was out of town on a conference. This is an excellent reproduction of the Arizona. The turrets of the guns actually turn. Although several of the pieces are quite small, the instructions are very clear. Although he did need some assistance from his parents when it came to putting the hull together, my son was able to do an extremely passable job on his own. He loves it, and that's all that matters!

Poor quality takes away the fun.
This model kit consists of over 100 pieces. The design is very good. Nearly all pieces are of reasonable sizes, so it would have been ideal even for beginners. I say "would have" because the manufacturing quality is horrendous. Deformed pieces are common and feathers are everywhere. Trimming and in fact sculpting become a big part of the construction process, easily doubling the work load than had the quality been at Tamiya level. Fortunately, the plastic is soft enough to curve with relative ease. There are no thin wires in the kit, so unlike the case with05038 1/144 U-BOOT TYP VIIC RVL05038 , breakage is not a big problem. Fitting large pieces together, however, can be a real struggle. I eventually use a lighter to soften the plastic into the right shape and end up having to buy a second set after ruining the first one. This is obviously not something that young kids should be allowed to attempt. The documentation is weak and error-prone. The guns are not to scale. The design is of dubious historical accuracy. The main guns cannot maintain their elevations. But the main problem remains the poor manufacturing quality. If one can overlook or overcome this issue, the USS Arizona kit is a great project for novice or intermediate modelers.

Good kit
Good kit for the money, it had some small molding alignment issues. Fairly easy to build depending on your skills and what you want out of it. Instructions are pretty simple and easy to read. Took about 20 hrs to finish.

Overall a pretty good model. Although, I would have given it 5 stars but it does come with a few flaws like the both parts of the hull don't fit together properly, they had some gap which I had to fill. Also, I couldn't get the foremast to fit correctly to the deck. Otherwise, it was fun to build this one

All good
Lots and lots of flash. Have a file, and super glue handy. In the end it turned out nice
