Perfect, I should have bought one sooner

With the tendency of my left shoulder to become frozen, this thing (and great youtube tutorials) has saved the day for me. I've paid up to $200 for 30 mins therapy that helped very little, what a waste of money. I could have bought several of these of different weights. Doing various swings and exercises with this has made the pain subside to a more tolerable level. I have a feeling if I keep it up, it will one day go away totally (not to mention I'm getting in really good shape, although my intention was just to deal with my shoulder pain). If you are apprehensive you might hurt yourself with this, just go easy in the beginning, look at the tutorials on youtube, start by holding the mace in the middle instead of the bottom and just get used to the feeling of swinging it. Me personally, I warm up with Indian clubs. I do them slowly to break the ice, then once warmed up, I move to the mace. The good feeling is so addicting, I don't want to stop! I've heard some say that instead of buying this mace they're just gonna get a sledge hammer. This mace though has as an awesome slip-proof grip and very well-balanced weight. Besides, the cost is almost the same. Get the mace folks, it was specifically made for the mastery of the ancient art of gada swinging. I should have started doing this long ago, maybe I wouldn't have developed my should pain/stiffness issues in the first place. Oh well, live and learn. Great product, 100% recommend.

Quality at a good price

I needed a 5 lb mace for good warmups after a shoulder injury. Very good quality, right up there with my other favorite maces. Nicely powder-coated (I believe) and nicely gnurled. And not a bad price.

This came without a single marking on it. The end cap was not plastic, but single piece. Glad to know retrospec was incredible quality.

Feels MUCH heavier than clubs of similar weight!

I'm quite comfortable with swinging a 15 lb club, so I've got a 10 and 15 lb maces. And at the moment, a 15 is way too heavy for me, even for 2-handed work. So get a 10 as your first mace. Retrospec maces are well made, just like their clubbells. Shafts are 1 1/2" thick with good knurling, balls and endcaps are welded. There's a slight rattling inside both shafts (likely some manufacturing debris trapped forever) which doesn't bother me. Why did I rate it 4 stars? The shafts are waaaaay too long for my liking. For example, if you grab it by the middle, you won't be able to pass the shaft under your arm, which would limit the amount of fancy stuff you can do with these maces. And you'll have to choke it up to make loads tolerable on many other exercises, due to an increased lever length. Perhaps one day I'll apply some hacksaw and elbow grease to alleviate the problem… Another reason for a 4-star rating: sizing chart is incorrect. While 15 lb indeed has a 1 1/2" shaft, on a 10 lb one it's actually 1 1/4".

Awesome workout; but!

This is an awesome workout tool! But, go lighter than what you would expect to be able to do since you are probably using muscle groups that aren’t usually worked out with this kind of motion. Love it!

Aggressive knurling, makes for great non slip grip. Full steel, no plastic. Second mace, glad I went with Retrospec better quality then my first mace.

Best lifting gear I've ever bought

My abs and shoulders have never been more sore! I love this thing! A word of caution for first time users: my hands felt almost strained or sprained for a few days after the first time I used it. Its easy to wrench your hand in the wrong position. After I looked up proper form that didn't happen anymore, but I would definitely research proper form before using it extensively.

Great way to easily expand your home or routine workout structure.

Great item put together cleanly with no welds showing or excess of threading. Paint it clean and even all throughout the item. There are softly defined knurled grabs separated on the handle for extra comfort in not slipping hold through a movement. Really happy will buy another.

HOLY HANNAH WOW HAPPY

this MaceBell is incredible..I bought the 15 lb. thinking pfft 15 lb. whatever I do 15 dumbbells at the gym like butter .. WOW its heavy , really heavy for a start weight . so I got it home from the post office , heavy and immediately ordered a second MaceBell 7 lb. im definitely keeping the 15 lb. so .. excellent machined clean milled steel fabrication . precise edges no burls or roughs solid . I recently dumped my bike and fractured my collar bone , surgery currently in a sling ,so this will be perfect for home physio in the coming weeks . AND there are heaps of on line video instruction , thats what sold me on not 1 but 2 MaceBells I own kettle bells also but max heavy over 35 lb. I highly recommend getting this product as a prime purchase so if you don't think its for you return it free with amazon prime . sadly only certain weights are prime ??? weird .enjoy 5 stars .
