Must have for Plumbers.
I have removed over 50 broken tub drains with missing cross bars, still works. I purchased this one as spare since old one has paid for itself a 1000 times >>>> Keep it clean & spray silicone after each use.

mine broke on a tough drain
Works great on most PVC tub drains. My tool broke on a tough brass drain that was quite old. I’m a little disappointed that it broke, and I have to buy another. I saw a few other reviews with the same problem. But when I thought about my particular situation, I don’t think there exists a tool Tough enough to not break on the drain I was working on.

IT WORKS!
This worked in very short time! Drain going on 18 years old, the bottom cross bracket was rotted out so looked at several of the tools to get this thing unscrewed. I’ve got 3 tubs all missing the bottom cross bracket so went with the best review (and higher priced option) hoping it would do the trick. Inserted the tool and twisted to open the teeth, put a small pipe about 10” on the end of the 3/8” ratchet handle and it worked great. No way it would’ve come off without the pipe on the socket handle. I had taken several turns so i removed the pipe and it would barely budge, so put the pipe back on for a few more turns. Very happy with this ingenious gadget, and much relieved I don’t need to call a plumber in. No doubts in my mind doing the other 2 tubs now!

Works when nothing else will
I struggled with removing a bath tub drain with the traditional cross bar tool ( broke the bars ) and a tap in “easy out” tool for over two hours with no success. I ordered this tool and had the drain out within 5 minutes. It was so easy that I went ahead and replaced the one in our guest bathroom that I had been putting off due to the cross bars being broken out. It took less time than the first. No damage done to either tub! It’s a great little tool that although a little pricey is much cheaper than a plumber or a possibly damaged tub from having to cut the drain out.

Shredded my drain. Had to call a plumber.
Had a tough old drain. This tool shredded the inside of the drain. Once I did get it to start turning the drain, the drain still wouldn’t come out. Having to call a plumber to remove my drain.

This Worked -- Worth the Money on 1950's cast iron tub
Performed as described; used 1/2" driver handle & cheater bar; all other tools failed;watched several u-tube videos for removel, all failed; 2 plumbers refused to remove it for fear of cracking tub; did it myself!

Beware.. It snapped the fittings apart underneath
Works great but beware it could break the fitting apart underneath and then you have a bigger problem. I think I would only recommend using one if the fittings are plastic and not old metal like mine. However the tool is amazing and way better than the one at home depot. Really grips well, so well it can and will tear fittings apart if they are old. Definitely wouldn’t attempt if you have an old drum trap.

Finally a tool that worked!
I have been trying to remove a bathtub drain, that has no crossbars, for quite a while. Tried a lot of methods except for cutting a slot the drain or citting it entirely because I wssnt ready for that point of no return. I tried the tool that has the expanding cones. Wouldn't grip. I tried this based on the reviews. It took a little while to figure the best wsy to position the tool in the drain. The tub isnt that wide and I am only 5'7", 175 # so not a huge guy. Getting enough room to work took some trial and error. I gotbthe tool to bite in a position where I was pulling in the ratchet. No luck. I switched it so that I could push on the ratchet and added a 1 foot piece if pipe as a cheater bar. And presto! Drain came out. Definitely recommend this tool! Worth every penny.

Works great
This was the third drain removal tool I purchased and it did the job where the others couldn't. The teeth are sharp and dig into the inside of the drain very effectively. The only downside was the price, but still cheaper than a visit from a plumber. Would recommend to anyone struggling to remove a stubborn drain.

Finally something to get the job done.
I tried 2 other tools to get my drains changed and both were ineffective. I did manage to get the drains out that had been installed with silicone using this tool. I had to extend my ratchet handle by about 14 inches to get enough leverage to start unthreading these old drains. What a relief. It is too bad the price of this tool is way out of proportion to it's quality. It slipped frequently and did not stay level so I had to maintain the placement of the tool with one hand and try to turn the ratchet with the other. It was a bit of a challenge but it finally came out.

Worked like a charm!
The headline says it all. I had to hold it steady with my free hand to get it to catch well, but once it caught, the old drain came right out.
