4ft 4" Scraper #693 -> Highly Recommended, BUY IT!
I want to be very clear and concise with this review because if you scroll through the negative reviews on this listing it is difficult at times to know what exact product they are reviewing. There are multiple items on this listing and reading them all can be a waste of time if you can't figure out what item they are talking about. This review is for the 4ft 4" #693 long-handled scraper. 1st please understand that: a) I very rarely give 5star reviews unless I'm totally 'in love' with a product. If I could I'd give this item 4.5/5 stars. b) I never give reviews without trying the product first. I wish others would do the same. c) I'm using this tool to scrape paint off walls and texture off ceilings. More precisely I'm scraping paint off 100+yr old lath&plaster walls (you know, the good stuff!). Until finding this item it was an exercise in utter frustration that had me in a deep funk due to the difficulty. REVIEW: This scraper is excellent. The included blade is sharp and pretty durable for a consumable item. The handle is sturdy and made of decent tube-steel. The tube steel is a little thin but definitely strong enough to perform the tasks that this tool is intended for (scraping paint/glue, lifting off vinyl sheet flooring or vinyl tiles - that sort of thing). The head is made of pot metal but not the ultra-cheap kind. The slightly angled head is beneficial to getting an edge under the material you're trying to scrape and reducing stress on the wrists when actually scraping along the surface. The blade slot is pretty tight (see last picture), and does NOT have some proprietary notch (see 4th picture) that prevents you from using 3rd-party blades from another vendor. This is, to me, a definite plus and in my opinion tells me that the company cares enough about the customer that they refuse to 'lock them in' to a repetitive sales loop by forcing them to buy their specific brand blades. Thank you very much for that, Warner, it is much appreciated. The blade that came with the unit is VERY sharp. Be careful with it or you'll end up needing stitches. Try to set the unit upright against a wall (gently!) because if you set it blade-side-down you will definitely cut into your flooring. I've used the scraper for a couple hours now and it hasn't dulled too much - and I am scraping against plaster! Real lime plaster not the gypsum crap most people are used to. Real lime plaster, fwiw, is literally hard as a rock (limestone to be specific) so you know I'm not inflating the truth here. The handle is a hard rubber. This is great for durability and not having to worry about tossing it in the back of your work truck but it's not so easy on the hands. Really the only gripe here would be if they could put a little bit softer rubber handle on it (like I have on my outdoor shovel/spade) and add a second grip half-way down the shaft so I could get a good purchase when I'm scraping the ceiling or fighting against a tough spot. This isn't much of a negative though, just something that would really set this item over the top and make it more awesome. In the end I'm going to be purchasing the small-handled unit (4" #691). So that should tell you something - I am impressed enough with this unit that I am willing to give this seller/company more of my business and make another purchase from them. Before I bought this item I was at my wit's end desperately trying to find a reasonable way to get the old paint off the walls of my 100+ year old house. I had tried sanding (omg that's a joke), using those 'fancy' paint-removal discs (works but $$$, time, and oh-so-heavy), and using a 'safe' paint stripper (sooo expensive!) and your 'regular scrapers' you find at your local big-box stores (what a joke!) - but none of these were really getting the job done. When I did my due diligence (as in, web searching for several hours) I discovered that the Brits use carbide scrapers most of the time. Searching for such things lead me to this item. It has (so far, and tbh it's only been a few hours) performed admirably. It's not a 'magic tool' - it takes effort and I need to pay attention, take my time, and take some breaks - but it works better than anything else I've tried and is a much more affordable option, just needs some good ol' fashioned 'elbow grease'.

Great deal on genuine multipack
Used these replacement blades for scraping paint off old brick house. They scrape without warping from pressure on the blade. Used all different kinds of blades to strip paint and none came close.

You need these blades!
If you do scraping of any kind, get serious, and replace those rusty, worn out blades on your scraper with a supply of new, sharp blades that are made for your quality scraper. You don't shave with a worn out razor blade. Then stop trying to extend the life of a rusty, ragged scraper blade. Use blades that are specifically manufactured for the scraper you bought. They truly make a difference. And the price is minimal.

Not as pictured
Ordered as a replacement blade for the floor stripper (this was shown as the option for replacement). However, replacement blades were for a two hole scraper. Completely unusable in the scraper I purchased at the same time. Could gave been a mispick, but I did not get the pictured item.

Highly Recommend this Scraper
This is a great scraper. It is, as they claim, heavy duty. We used to use a competitor product (http://www.amazon.com/Unger-LH12C-Light-Scraper-Handle/dp/B004MDMA4K?ie=UTF8&keywords=floor%20scraper&qid=1462220401&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2) (sold through many distributors such as ULINE) but this scraper is by far better. Plus, this item is made in the USA versus China for the cheaper stuff. COMPARISON Our biggest problem with competitor products is the thin and cheap blades. Anytime you really put some force behind the blade or hit something hard or a crack in concrete, the blade would chip and break into pieces. That meant a new blade. Since we scrape quite a bit of concrete we were going through blades very quick. USE CASE Scraping dried glue, rubber, and paint off a concrete floor. THIS SCRAPER The shaft is very sturdy and strong. There is absolutely no flex to it when really pushing on it hard. Also, the handle has a nice soft rubber grip on it instead of a hard plastic handle to take some strain off your hands. The blade holder is also very well build. The blade holder is a "vice" that squeezes the blade. There are two decent sized, round head, Phillips screws to hold the vice shut. The larger screws are a nice feature since they allow you to apply more torque to hold the blade in better. Plus, it is harder to lose a screw! The blades (and replacements) are very nice as well. These blades are much thicker than normal scraper blades so they do not break as easily and keep the sharp edge longer. You could probably resharpen these blades once or twice wish a file but we have yet to try that. Our only complaint is that the blades are one sided. It would be really nice if you could just turn the blade around and have a fresh edge (and use half the amount of blades). Definitely will be buying again.

Great Floor Scraper`
I had a freezer leak and it dried quickly but was giving off a terrible smell. I pulled the freezer out but no amount of solvent would move the huge blot. I ordered this scraper, let the solvent soak in and the blot was lifted off the floor. A great scraper.
