got to say, this is a lifesaver
An electrician was doing some work on my house when he went down to my crawl space and noticed that I had a massive lake of water underneath. I called many plumbers and they said that it would cost upwards of $2000 to remove the water and re-do the pipe. Even then, they'd have to wait a couple weeks before they would deem it safe enough to enter. So I decided to buy a $70 water pump (on Amazon) and pumped out all the water. In the meantime, I watched many DIY YT videos and figured out how the sharkbite worked. I read about 2 schools of thought - one saying it isn't 100% effective, and another group who swears by it. I decided I'd do it and check the leak every once in a while to save $2000. Well, it was a dirty job but I was able to crawl down in the mud, cut two copper pipings, used the sharkbite shaving tool and inserted the sharkbite. Be careful not to push too hard as it is almost impossible to pull back out w/o the proper tool. I turned on the water and voila, no leaks. Awesome, awesome product that is coded to work properly. Very good.

First Time Sharkbite User
Used this Sharkbite 3/4” slip coupler on my outside sprinkler system past the back flow preventer. The ground had sunk over 10 years and was pulling down about 1.25” from level. Just a matter of time before a bigger problem. Was going to do the old solder a piece of pipe in but couldn’t find anyone selling a foot or so of the 3/4” copper. Looked on Amazon for this and it was here the next day. Awesome. Since the copper pipe is outside it had everything from paint overspray to just aging. Used some stripper and then a simple Brillo pad and the pipe was like a mirror where it was cleaned. Cut the pipe and sure enough there was a 1.25” gap. My old tool for copper pipe cutting did okay but not great. If I was soldering some sanding and good to go. On this I used some emery cloth just on the very end to try to ensure no burrs. Also used an awl in a pocket knife to get the inside where the tool had rounded the copper slightly. Probably wouldn’t have been as paranoid except I have never used a Sharkbite before. Slipped the slip end on and down just enough that it was ready to join the other pipe. Took the little enclosed orange plastic piece to lift it back to the little mark I had made on the end with the stop. I thought it wasn’t moving and I thought geez how much pressure do I need to apply when I noticed it had already slid into the stop end right to my mark. I was absolutely convinced it was going to leak and I had to turn the water supply back on full just to get the back flow preventer to seat. No leak. Way to easy. I am not ready to declare victory just yet and no idea long term how long it will last. Would I use a Sharkbite coupler behind a wall or in anyway out of sight? No I would not. Do I now understand why plumbers are using this product? Yes I do and I was impressed with the quality. Since I hadn’t done any soldering in a couple decades I was pretty happy to see this product plus I didn’t have to buy some 5’ section of 3/4” copper pipe, fittings and a gas canister. I do recommend if using this on outside copper pipe to get that copper looking like new so the internal ‘O’ rings can do their part. Hopefully the picture will show how ugly that old copper looks where it wasn’t cleaned up.

This is a labor saving plumbing
The shark bites only seem expensive until install one and then you know this is the easiest way and no leaks!

Fast an easy installation
The Texas Freeze of 2021 delivered an expected pipe burst to a line running in the garage to a hose bib outside. Access to pipe was easy. After cutting through the middle of the burst seam, the ends were "pliered" back to "round" so that a pipe cutting tool could make a clean rotation around both ends. The shark bite was easy to install. Particularly so, because the end with the hose bib was easy to move away from the fixed side of the pipe. This end should be installed first, then the fixed end by applying pressure from outside the home at the bib. For a long run of fixed pipe you might want two Shark Bites to make that easier. We were able to fix the pipe in 30 minutes including the hunt (cutting sections of drywall to find the exact location of the leak.) Initially it leaked but it was because I did not seat it sufficiently. Having the orange Shark Bite removal tool allowed me to start over and everything was fine. This tool should come with the shark bite. Also recommend getting the 3 inch version (length) or 6 inch version as this makes installation easier.

The Copper Cure!
During the great Texas Blizzard of 2021, this got me back in normal operation. After I discovered the section of copper pipe that burst, I ordered this after watching some YouTube videos and determining it the best fix within my experience to apply successfully. The product is forgiving and my handmade cut with a mini hack-saw from the dollar store extracted the burst section. You really need these cuts to be as straight as possible and I varied 2-3 degrees maybe but I deburred for an extended time with wet-sand to remove any burr that might grab, rip or tear the products inner O-rings when installed. Tearing these rings on installation is why they fail. There is an inner "stop" which prefers the exact cross-cut. In micro-spec, misaligned pipe cuts combined with the inner stop result in micro-turbulence, which will predict the "next" failure, which WILL be over CONSIDERABLE time. I'll eventually reinstall a new copper section, but this has bought me a looooong time to think about it.

Worked great and as designed
Worked just the way I needed it to. I have not had much success with soldering copper and ended up using this instead. Really quick installation but just make sure you use the spacer so you can get it off later if needed.

Perfect solution for me for pinhole leaks in copper!
Very happy with the results of fixing my pinhole leak on my 3/4 inch hot water copper pipe. Have had several pinhole leaks on my older copper hot water pipes. Have had the plumbers fix them twice before and was over $700 each time. Over the past year have been reading up on Sharkbite and watching videos. When a new leak developed, I decided to fix it myself. Cut out and replaced a large section of copper and did slip on sharkbites on both ends. 10 minute job for less than 2 pct the cost of a Plummer. Have waited a week to write the review, checking for leaks and performance. All good. Best plumbing solution I have ever made!

leaking copper pipe?
This coupling is the answer to repairing a small section of straight run pipe that can not be moved end wise.

fits standard 1/2" ID copper pipe
used this to repair an outside tap pipe that split in the winter (forgot to shut water off and drain pipes) used a hack saw to cut the bad pipe out, wasn't the straightest cut... but no leaks! tools used were a hack saw, 120 grit sand paper and a 3/4" counter sink to clean up the pipe ends. I was able to slide the coupler onto the pipes fairly easily, starting with the slip end. It went together nice and I made sure to mark the copper pipe 1" from cut so I had the minimum proper insert depth. this has the shark logo cast into the piece, this is a true sharkbite product

A little expensive but works well
I had a pinhole on a copper pipe and used this to fix the leak. The more time consuming was to cut the pipe, one time done, in less than one minute it was fixed. It holds fine for 2 months now.

simple and clean installation
although the adaptation and simplicity of the shark bite is great, when using inside the walls I think they are ok and I could trust them being around for 20 years with no product fault but the plumbers will not guarantee the job without changing to a soldered on connection to Pex.
