Good value
Simple clean design; lightweight, but still feels solidly built. Straightforward to mount and use. The lock is moderately secure; and is a step up over the simple barrel locks in some competing models). Be aware, though, that security in these types of boxes is still pretty perfunctory. Any manila envelope or even standard envelope inserted sideways could easily be fished out by someone with small hands. I actually bent the inner flange to try and reduce the opening size. I read a handy suggestion to mount your box higher than you might ordinarily, to make it harder for shorter / smaller-handed perps to peer or reach inside. (Nothing against shorter, smaller-handed ethical people, e.g. Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Moe Howard. I digress). For this price point, this is probably as secure as you're going to get, so overall I give it high marks. Caveat: Installed this in Southern California so I can't really speak to how well it endures under extreme weather.

For the price, should have a sturdier lock, otherwise it’s very good.
My only criticism is that the lock does not seem very high quality and after just a couple of weeks it became difficult to insert the key. Shooting some carbonite powder into the lock did the trick but I will be looking to attach some kind of flap over the lock to keep the rain out in hopes that might help with maintenance. Otherwise, the box is very sturdy and if common sense is used to install, there are no problems at all.

Simple, sturdy design - BUT,.. $25 + $5 S/H for (2) BLANK KEYS to be cut??! ARE YOU KIDDING??
This mailbox is sturdy, just the right size, nice finish. Time will tell how it weathers and holds up in climate with all four seasons. I have no complaints about their design and functionality. BUT... I could not believe the answer they gave when called Qualarc support... regarding how to duplicate keys. Good luck trying to find a local locksmith to duplicate keys. You can't.... because purposely there is no brand information marked on the (2) included original keys with the mailbox. Therefore, let's call it, "proprietary." What this means is you either order from Qualarc a pair (2) of BLANK KEYS for $25 + $5 shipping, or you (attempt) replace the lock to a standard one with standard keys where any locksmiths in America can help you without ripping you off. To cut a key should cost between $2 - $10 each depending your location.. and this cost usually includes the key! So potentially,.. to make two duplicates it may cost you $45 when you buy the mailbox! This is a mailbox key -- not for door entry into Fort Knox nor to a safe deposit box. Ridiculous. The Qualarc rep said, "...we buy from another manufacture of the lock; that's what it costs us, and we pass the cost to the customer,.. and we don't make any money (as the middleman)." Does that sound fishy to you? He smugly said, "...go call a bunch of locksmiths.. and we will talk again later..." The arrogance. The lock style is called "cam lock." Amazon sells many styles. I am looking to find the right one that will fit as a replacement. They generally cost about $10 and comes with (2) standard mailbox keys that can easily be duplicated by your local locksmith. As of this post, I bought the mailbox Qualarc ALX-200-WH for $80. Had I known this before purchase, I should have asked.. "I will buy your mailbox, WITHOUT the cam lock, and reduce the cost to $60 instead." How about that?!? Or,.. take a pass on this model or Qualarc items all together. I am more than annoyed.

Clean Design and Excellent Craftsmanship
This galvanized steel mailbox is an excellent buy. It is well made and has a sleek, simple, classic design that is functional yet stylish. Installation is a breeze. The mailbox fits easily by your door without being a distraction. Will compliment any decor.

Missing all hardware
The mailbox itself is great, but is missing all hardware. It’s not a big deal to have to drive to Home Depot to buy some screws and anchors, but it’s really obnoxious paying for something and not getting such an integral part of an item.

I love the actual mailbox
I love the actual mailbox, but gave it a 2 due to issues. I originally bought 4 mailboxes for a commercial building. Short version: Had to replace 2 out of 4 mailboxes 2 times each. They arrived dented, smashed, lid not working, or the like. One time Amazon even sent me a replacement mailbox I had sent back! I had put a piece of paper taped on the inside of the mailbox with the word defective - sure enough - it came back to haunt me. Putting up the mailbox is very simple - you need your own anchors/screws as it states in the listing. An issue to watch with the mailbox while installing is the drop down front door. While installing the door came open. You would think no big deal, but yes it is. It swung open and fell off! Trying to put it back on with the cheap/tiny rod was practically an impossible task. It took me quite awhile to get it to hold. Now all 4 mailboxes are finally up and functional. This took approximate five months with returns and other issues to finally reach the point of installation. The renters say the mailboxes work fine and have kept the rain out for the most part. The size is a perfect fit for large envelopes, plus the lock (have not had issues with the locks as others have and I'm hoping we don't) is a nice added touch.

Almost... but lid stays open
I needed a locking mailbox with, among other qualities, a mail slot cover that closes automatically to prevent careless or hurried letter carriers from leaving it open and letting the rain in. According to one review, this one's mail slot cover closes by itself so I ordered it. But when it arrived, I found that the top CAN be left open and doesn't close by itself until it is at a 45 degree angle. Also, it has a dull finish and a severe look that wasn't very appealing, so I returned it. I ended up with a different Qualarc model and will post a review once it gets a good workout in the rain.
