Good brush, poor packaging.
I have been a painter since 1963 and have used this type of brush all of these years. Can't be beat for oil base finishes as it leaves an almost sprayed like finish. Hard to find in stores so when I had a counter top to finish in high gloss oil poly I was pleased to find this. Only complaint is that the handle was broken upon arrival due to improper packaging. Couldn't wait for return and replacement so I kept it. The top came out flawless.

Sheds hair
Sheds a lot of hair. I use a brush comb and it just keeps shedding. Paints well other than that.

Excellent brush for doing the very last coat.
I used this product in my pickup truck sleeper build. It went on hard curly maple. I did a 4 step process to obtain the results I was looking for. Step 1 is dye the wood to the color I want to pull the grain out. Step 2 is to use tung oil for more depth. Step 3 is wax free shellac for a seal coat. I used the Auto Drive microfiber applicator pad 2 pack from walmart to apply quickly and with no bubbles. I did still sand between coats. Step 4 is varish for handling weather and heat conditions. I used another microfiber pad to apply all the coats except for the final coat. Which I used the Purdy ox hair paint brush in a warm room to get rid of the air bubbles. If you get the paint brush new make sure you use it for a few coats or on scrap wood to get the losse hair out of it. I used it and cleaned it out twice before using on my projects final coat. I posted a picture of what I used and a picture of my build. Wish I had took better photos when it was outside since the ones I have posted don't do it justice. But when looking at the wood it looks 3D when looking at the fiddleback

No latex
I bought one of these brushes for an outdoor project that I wanted to finish with varnish. That is what these brushes are mainly for. Oil-based finishes. I read some of the reviews that this brush sheds hair, they must have got a brush that was made on a Friday( you know looking forward to the weekend) just kidding. Anyhow my brush did not shed. The varnish went smooth and easy, no complaints. I've used it for other oil-based finishes with the same results. They area little expensive, but clean it well when you are done and it will last you a lifetime.

DO NOT BUY, Terrible brush
Terrible brush, DO NOT BUY. I had 16 doors to remove, Sand, prime, undercoat and gloss.. After 5 doors I was so disgusted with this brush I threw it in the bin which is where it belongs. It is extremely expensive and loses hairs all the time. On one of the doors I actually counted how many hairs came out, 26 which is ridiculous for such an expensive brush, and of course each time I noticed a hair in my paintwork it meant I had to spend time and effort to fix it.

Not for finishing
Holds lots of paint but not for finishing coat. Hairs fall out making what your painting full of hairs. Would be good for outside painting or staining where hairs wouldn’t matter

Hair everywhere
It sheds hair like crazy. I have used it a few times and it just won't stop. I thought after some use it would stop, but no. It's very annoying and I keep having to recheck and touch up everything, because it constantly loses hair. Honestly, after hearing so much about Purdy, I was expecting more.

Awesome brush
Beautiful real ox hair brush. My husband uses it to apply finishes to his custom woodwork pieces. Worth it to prevent air bubbles in finishes like urethane.

Good finishing brush
Great brush, used it to apply water based Polyurethane finish. Holds product well, doesn't cause bubbles.
