Great modern looking hallway light

I bought two of these lights for my hallway. This is a very nice looking hallway light. It is made very well and the bottom piece is real glass not plastic like in some of these lights. The shade is a beige color and looks great. I have two 60 watt LED lights in each with the lights on dimmers. The only negative I have is that it is a challenge to install the lights working upside down. The hardest part was attaching the chrome light base to the electrical socket. A real pain to do if the alignment is even slightly off. All other parts attached easily. I would recommend this light.

Terrible to install but looks nice when done

Thank you to monsieur_mode for his review, which helps tremendously! Installation is horrible. I’m not an electrician, but I’ve replaced many lights from ceiling fixtures to pendants and bathroom wall lights. This ceiling light was the hardest ever. Luckily I had extra screws of my own and used some of them. All parts were here, but still not enough screws and the directions are worthless. With that being said, now that it’s installed and I’m still alive, it looks good. A few things to note. It’s not flush mount. You’ll see from one of my pictures that the shade is an inch below the ceiling. That could be a problem if you had a new build like me (14 years ago) and the builder was lazy when painting the ceiling. I don’t have matching ceiling paint, but got lucky in the laundry room. Bye bye boob light! If you are patient or handy, it may take you much less time than me. I did this alone and had to keep going up and down the ladder with the drill and multiple parts. That’s a me problem, but if you are a normal person and doing it alone, allow time and patience. Lots of curse words were said. The shade is cream and well made. These are excellent quality for the money. I see this same light for $69 on the Progress website. The shade measures 13”. I thought I was buying a conversion kit, so I only wanted the shade and middle support screws but that wasn’t possible due to the way the shade is made. It has to be hung to the lamp base. The center screw holds the glass. If you buy it, I hope your installation goes well! I have to decide if I’m keeping the second one or returning it. Maybe tomorrow I’ll have a better attitude and will try to install number two. Cheers!

Don’t hesitate! Get it!

In our experience, this light fixture was pretty easy to install and is just the soft and simple look I was going for. The linen shade is a very pretty creamy color and is beautifully constructed. I wanted to update the space and it easily fits in with our style - Modern Farmhouse/Modern French Country/ Southern Traditional. The step by step instructions and hardware were all in the box, and were fairly easy to follow, and my husband has limited experience changing out light fixtures. It provides enough light for our long hallway with the two 60 watt LED bulbs we installed. We left fingerprints on the glass the first time, then cleaned it and used tight fitting gloves and now it’s fingerprint free! If you are considering this light fixture, don’t hesitate to try it! We are happy with how it has changed the look of our hallway for a fair price!

Beautiful but WARNING

Soooo I bought this knowing everyone said it was a pain and complicated- it was not complicated for me at all but the problem was it was a pain to install. The screws that go into the joint box and then into the base of the light wouldn’t fit through the holes, because they were too short for it to go through the whole base, so we had to go and undo it and grab longer screws to complete it. (So buy some to keep on hand just in case- you’ll just need two). I think it’s worth the headache, plenty bright, and a good deal- just a pain so breath deep if you try this one out, my friend

Be ready for some annoying details

The installation design is complicated because you have to put the light mounting screws through the top of the wall plate before you wire it up. I ran the screws through the light first to see what holes on the plate to use. Also, the most frustrating part is when you finally find the holes with the screws through the light fixture and go to put the little balls that hold them on. The screw spins with the ball and you can't thread them on. I put some tape on the screw and nut to try to keep it from spinning but it didn't work every time. It did help reading the reviews and having an idea of what I was in for ahead of time. I am really happy with them tho. They are definitely worth the money.

Looks nice in the hallway

We purchased 3 of these for a hallway and then 3 more in the same style but a longer base for a connecting hallway. The 3 provide enough light in our hallway. I like that there is a cover over the lightbulb so you don't have glare on the floor or in your eyes. We had an extra one and put it in our bedroom. The one does not allow a lot of light if you like bright rooms, but it is a nice with lamps on the side bed tables. I recommend these.

Perfect to replace the ugly builder grade lights

Couldn't be happier with this light. Love it so much I bought 2 more to finish the hallway to replace those ugly and cheap looking builder grade lights.

They look great as hallway lighting.

The only problem is the centre post. It is too short. I could only add the washer to the bottom so smaller than the provided cap. If you mess around with it too much you might break the glass too.
