Travel Trailer Storage Cabinet Lock Replacement
I wanted to replace my storage cabinet locks for security reasons. All RV manufacturers use the same key for their locks so they are not very secure. The order was delivered very quickly and the locks were easy to install. I now have more secure storage cabinets on my travel trailer.

Good locks, but a pain on a camper.
The locks appear to be well made, and include both straight and offset latches. The outside is chromed but the inside components are not and I suspect it will not be long before they start to rust -- but that seems to be true with all locks of this type. I have three complaints: 1. You have to leave the key in when the lock is unlocked. I like to unlock my storage doors when camping, and only lock them back when leaving the camper for more than a few minutes. I can't do that unless I leave a key in every lock, and I have four locks and only two keys. 2. Based on one of questions that the seller answered here, it sounds like every locked is keyed the same that this seller offers. That can't possibly be true, so I am hoping they will clarify that point. 3. It would be nice if the locks came with washers/collars for both the inside and the outside. That would increase the area the lock has to tighten to the door and reduce compression on the door itself from trying to tighten the lock down during installation. My original locks had them but they were too worn to reuse....I will dig them up on Amazon or Ebay I guess.

If you have a travel trailer, these work great
First, if you own a travel trailer and have the standard keys for your extra storage compartments, you need to come to terms with the fact that most of us have keys to each others trailers... My keys fit my father in law's trailer and my in-bed toolbox for my truck... These are a quick upgrade to avoid things disappearing on you. I replaced all 3 of my locks in about 20 minutes, and I was being really slow. I only had one side give me issues, but was able to get around that. The locks have 2 metal tabs for different depths of locks. My KeyStone Cougar 5th Wheel used the shallow tabs. My only issue is that these types of keys can only be removed from the lock in the locked position. You can alter the keys to be able to remove them, but my wife pointed out that it would force us to remember to lock the compartments. I'd give them a 4.5 stars, if I could. Fast shipping, no issues mechanically and I have a spare in case something happens to one. That, and I haven't seen anyone have these types of locks on their trailers. Even my father in law noticed during our last trip - he had to ask to get into our basement instead of helping himself to tools.... MUHAHAHAHA

Turns out that these keys are super expensive to cut and hard to find
These locks do exactly what they advertise. However because I ordered a different lock 5/8 instead of 7/8 with the straight key I had to reorder a new set. I didn't even return those and reordered the locks with this special key. I wish I hadn't and in fact I am in the process of ordering a 3rd set of locks, 7/8 with a regular key. Turns out that these keys are super expensive to cut and hard to find. No thank you. I want to unlock for the day or even the whole camping trip and just use the thumb latch to keep the RV storage doors closed. I want one key that unlocks them all and don't have to leave a key in them. All of this is not the fault of the manufacturer or the seller. I should have paid closer attention. Somewhere there is a key like this with two slots that allows you to remove the key in the unlocked position, but I am not going to have to have more keys cut. I saw somewhere on the internet that it can be as expensive as $10.00 each for the keys, again no thanks.

Marginally better than the standard compartment lock use two for added security
When I found out that my standard lock was keyed the same as all the others from the factory I bought these. I don't think they are built any better or worse, they seem to open easily. I had one locking and one non-locking hinge on my compartment lid, I replaced both so both lock. The issue of not being able to take the key out is easily fixed with a few swipes of a hand file on the little metal tab on the end of the key. As other people say, these locks are to keep the casual thief out, but have a different key and two locks will hopefully drastically eliminate any issues.

Great replacement for the standard CH751
My travel trailer has three compartments, all using the common CH751 key. I popped the locks off and replaced them with these. Took about five minutes per lock. I don't know if this is also a common RV key , but it's at least not as common as the CH751, so my stuff is at least a little more secure. (CH751 is the most common RV key, and so anyone can easily access your "locked" compartments unless you rekey them or replace the locks.) Unfortunately, I didn't notice before I purchased these that you can't pull the key out while it's unlocked. However, as a work around, if I need to prop the compartment doors open, I just put the lock back in the lock position with the door open. It works. It also works as a reminder if I go to close the door and forget to lock it because the door won't close all the way.

Fits my R-Pod travel trailer perfectly
Came with a multitude of parts to fit just about any application for this thickness. Make sure to measure to right door thickness. As with all round key locks, the key is retained when in the unlocked position. To be able to remove key, you must turn tumbler to the locked position. A simple modification of removing the retaining tab on the key will enable the key to be removed from the lock in the "unlocked" position. Direct fit for Forest River R-Pod doors. Solid quality

Exellent upgrade to your RV security
Looking at getting the cam lock upgraded as everyone has a 751 key for the external locks. Set comes with 2 keys so I have my wife keep one incase I loose it ;) Now when the locks are shipped the key has a tab ont the top that prevents you from removing the key when it is not aligned with the notch in the center, just file this tab off and you will be able to remove it from the lock no matter if it is locked or unlocked.
