Good for this type of window, GET THE RIGHT ONE
Great for certain windows, finding the right type of lock can be difficult so i hope this helps. I bought two different kinda and this is the one that works. It has a shorter and shallower lock, and comes with longer mounting screws, works well and fits perfectly. My biggest recommendation if you’re replacing locks and not installing new ones is to compare the part that the lock hooks into to the one you have currently if you do not want to take the window apart. You can kinda see what i mean km the last picture.

Better than the original
While locking the original 8-year old sash window latch, which was all plastic, the handle broke off. Its shaft had sheared where it connects to the cam plate. It was 2 1/8" hole centers with an 11/16" backset. I couldn't find the exact replacement anywhere and the closest I did find was nearly $20 including additional shipping charges! So, I decided to go with a 2 1/4" hole centers and 7/16" backset latch off Amazon and redrill new holes. The new hole positions would put them well away from the original holes and hopefully, the new latch would cover the old holes. As can be seen from the photo, this worked out perfectly. I used the recommended 3/32" drill bit and the position of the new pilot holes away from the glass, but closer than originally, still gave me just enough room for my cordless drill to get to the center-punched holes I made after positioning the latch and marking the hole positions. I did notice that when drilling the new holes, an aluminum plate moved inside the frame covering the original holes internally. I assume that it was there to reinforce the area for the original screws (the frame is thin plastic) and for whatever reason it is loose and held only by the screws. It didn't seem to affect the integrity of my new holes, but I suggest that if you replace a latch and use the original holes, you remove one screw holding the old latch, move the latch out of the way and put back that screw before removing the other screw and the old latch. Then attach the new latch with that one removed screw, remove the other screw and carefully swing the new latch into position over the second hole and insert and tighten the second screw. That way, you will not disturb the internal plate and cause some new installation problem. I did find that the original tab on the other window pane would work with the new latch, but I decided the replace it anyway. The original screws matched the new slots perfectly. That was great because it would have been VERY difficult to drill new holes with them being so close to the glass. The slight sideways misalignment of the two parts you see in the photo is due to the latch moving the window when it pulls it tight. In the free condition, the two parts are aligned perfectly. The new latch is all metal. The cam plate pulls the window panes together as well as applying some force to close them tight up and down. It seems to snap into the open and closed positions as noticed when operating it before installation. I always try to ensure the windows are fully closed before operating the latch to avoid over-stressing it. For around $5, I can't complain. I have a better metal latch that looks like it was installed at the factory. I have a solution to any other broken plastic latches and if this one does break in the future, I just buy another one!

Perfect fit for my window that already had a lock
On one of my windows, the keeper (the part that the lock latches on to) of my window became deformed. As a result, I couldn't lock my window because the lock wouldn't latch onto it. So I bought this to replace the keeper. I unscrewed the old keeper and screwed this one down in its place, and it fit perfectly. It's been holding up perfectly well and I've been able to lock the window without issue. If you're in the same position that I was in and want to buy this to replace the lock/keeper that was already on your window, you should know that you have to choose a keeper/lock that matches the screw holes of the original one, that way you don't have to drill new holes to screw this in place. The way I did that was by using a measuring tape to measure the distance between the two holes on the window that the original keeper was screwed into. Then, make sure that distance matches the distance on the product picture (or on Prime-Line's website) for the specific product you're considering. I did that and was able to screw the keeper down in place where the original one that fell off was. It worked perfectly, and I've been able to lock the window without any issues. The product seems well-made, strong, and held up very well with normal use of locking/unlocking the window to open it.

Measure and compare with originals!????
SO HAPPY with this purchase. These are very sturdy metal latches. Be sure to take your measurements and compare your latches with those pictures and your sure to get the right fit! Window manufacturer wanted to send someone out to replace with original parts (6 latches) for the low price of $200. No thanks!! They were plastic and broke in less than 3 years. 6 latches, 12 screws and a screwdriver...I can do it myself!!
