Great replacement lock

Our door didn’t lock so we bought this replacement. I was not sure if it would work, but it was easy to install and works perfectly.

You get what you pay for.

The good: This product is a great value being around $25. I was able to install in about an hour. It’s looks pretty decent and is a pretty good fit and replacement for a broken handle. It functions average. The quality is pretty low, but you only paid $25. The bad: Many people mentioned the screws being too short. Only the screws that go through the handle are too short. If you don’t install that, it fits fine. I had to find washers to put under the handle to make it fit. The lock wobbles even when everything is tight. You can see the lock flexing when you slightly tug on the door. The internal pieces are pretty low quality, but now you can see why some handles cost 6 times as much. The instructions are very hard to read and make sense of. But honestly, there are only a few screws, I figured it out by looking at the old handle. The ugly: It required I cut a portion of the door out for the locking mechanism to fit through the opening. It’s not easy cutting through metal and really hard to make it look presentable if you don’t have proper tools. But I needed to lock my door, so I had to cut it out. My handle is 15 years old, so I am sure there have been many similar handles made over the years that are just slightly different. All in all, my door locks and has a wooden handle. It cost me an hour and $25. Plus it was delivered next day for free. Often if life, you get what you pay for. This one gets the job done, but requires a little extra.

Fits Old Doors Well

Good fit and multiple latch hooks for adjustment. Looks like the old original. Not as fine a detailed finish as the very old original.

Thankfully inexpensive, but cheaply made and doesnt work that great

It doesnt work that great. Our door is the required size, but it's a problem. I was able to finagle my way getting it installed and it works, but wow that lock locker is so flimsy it routinely gets moved to the lock side, preventing someone from locking the door easily and is frustrating. The main lock itself is temperamental as well, and sometimes takes a good amount of force to lock. If we leave the locks out of it altogether, the handle is very nice to pull the door closed or open without strain on fingers like we used to have. Locks are pretty important though, so I'm knocking it down two stars because of that. If they fix that and supply better screws than the soft garbage slotted ones, it'd be 4 or 5 stars.

Perfect replacement, just had to find the right attachment screws

This was a perfect replacement for the handle assembly on the sliding door of our apartment in a 35-plus-year-old building. I did have to go to a hardware store to find screws of the right length to connect both plates through the door. The short set provided was too short, and the long set was too long - I suppose they can't account for every door thickness in the country. Not a big deal, Ace Hardware or your local place will usually sell individual screws.

Wood is light

While this is really nice the wood is much lighter in real life.

Very hard to assemble.

Maybe it’s our old house but it was NOT easy to install. We had to bend and saw down some metal for it to lock. It still doesn’t lock easily but it gets the job done.

Didn't end up working

This product didn't end up working for us. Make sure you pay close attention to the measurements. If your off by abit, this product won't fit. Other then that I'm sure it would have been good
