No fault of the replacement wheel...didn't fix the problem I had with my screen door.

You need to buy these if you have a Columbia Style Slider

First word of advice: If you're looking for a new screen door, stay away from the Columbia style hardware. I personally feel that these things are an absolute nightmare to work with. So one of my three sliding screen doors had the plastic wheels shatter on me. I started looking to replace the whole door when I found that these casters were much cheaper than the whole door, and they were exactly the type in my door. I ordered two sets of two with the thought that I woudl replace all four of them in the door that broke to see how they worked. Since they worked well, I will be purchasing replacements for my other two sliders. Now a little bit about how they work. If you have Columbia style doors, the correct way to remove the door is to loosen two of the screws (either on top or on the bottom...I find that the bottom ones are easier to work with), and then slide that portion of the door into the door to release the tension on the door. When I pulled my door out, I found that the top did not have any casters. I decided to put some in to see how the door would function. I'm glad I did. To re-install the door, it's easiest to put the top into the groove first and then to try to line up the bottom wheels. Once the wheels are lined up, you can pull down the adjustable part (where the screws should still be loose) to get a tight fit. The result? I'm very happy with the way that this door works now. There is very little friction when sliding whereas before it seemed as if I was bending the whole door every time I opened or closed it. I will definitely be ordering 8 more of these to replace the casters in my other two doors.

Back On Track

Screen door is back on its tracks. Rolling smoother, quieter and easier. Great improvement to our patio screen door. Would recommend to a friend.

Economical upgrade

I have a Columbia sliding patio screen door that has never worked very well. It has plastic rollers at the top and bottom that didn't operate smoothly, so the door took a lot more effort to open and close. I didn't like it at all. I looked at replacing the rollers in the hope it would help. I didn't realize you have a choice of staying with the cheaper plastic rollers, or for a few bucks more, upgrading to metal rollers. So I ordered these. Replacing them was pretty easy, take the door off the track, and then using just a flat blade screw driver to remove the old cheap plastic roller and put in the metal upgrades. It took me less than a half hour to clean the upper & lower track and then replace the rollers. Cleaning all the crud out of the track really helped. The new rollers allow the slider to open and close effortlessly. I am really happy with the way these rollers improved the functioning of the sliding door. I'd highly recommend spending the extra money for the metal rollers. You won't be disappointed.

Rust issues at 2 years old

Installed 2 years ago, worked great til rust set in. Steel wheels probably not a good idea for outside screen doors. Looks like a zinc coating when new, but that's not the case. Wheels rusted to the metal spring frame. Going to try the plastic wheels set this time.

$23 is a rip off for 4 of these wheels ...

$23 is a rip off for 4 of these wheels. But I couldn't find them anywhere else and they were cheaper then buying a new screen door. Wheels work well, are all metal and durable so they get a 5/5. The price was a 2/5. So overall value is 3/5.
