Works, low to no maintenance
The media could not be loaded. Good enough for a backyard pond. Preferably keep water clean of debris that might slow flow.

Amazing!
We have a 1500 gallon pond that we've been just sort of winging it since we bought the house 4 years ago. The summers are hot in NC and the algea gets out of control. We also have a lot of trees dropping debri in the pond. We finally got in there and scooped a lot of the crap out which made the water very murky. We had a pump and filter combo from AquaSource that was so nasty to clean out. In the summertime we would have to clean it two or three times a week just to get the water to circulate through the pump. On a local Facebook group I asked what kind of pump I could use that would not get clogged up and everyone suggested the Tetra large debris pump with this the external tetra bio filter. The first couple days we were pretty disappointed that we didn't see much clarity. However, after 3 weeks the pond looks better than it's ever looked. We can actually see the pump and the bottom of the pond !! One thing to be mindful of is the attachment sizes of this unit are rather large (1 1/4 and 1 1/2). It's hard to find pond tubing that size locally And we also ended up having to buy a new waterfall box because our old waterfall box only had a 3/4 in max inlet. So if you end up going with this filter, I would definitely recommend buying your hosing and any other accessories you need online. We used the Tetra 2500 bio filter and so far it's been a great investment.

Quality pump work well for my 400 gallon pond
Been in use for 9 months straight. Pump works very well with the Laguna 2000. After about 4-5 months of filtering my pond, which has never been filtered before, I’ve never seen my Goldfish water plants so happy! Thanksgiving day, we decided to winterize (removed) the pond pump and filter, trimmed all the water plants back. I’ve never thought there would be so much overgrown roots. It was ridiculous! We were so impressed the pump continued to run as well as it did being filled with so much roots. Unfortunately, we lost one of the screws after dismantling the pump. This was disappointing. I recommend this pump. So far, it has worked very well for us. I highly recommend it for a 350-500+ gallon pond.

This is my second purchase of this pump
This is my second purchase of this pump for my 900-gal fish pond. I had tried other pumps prior to first buying the first one. All those pumps did not last over 6 months due to the debris that gets into the pond water. Trees, high winds, each contribute to the debris entering the water. The Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pump performed for 5 years before with no problems which is why I bought this second one. Another important feature it the pump design of protective shell that has water entering holes allowing filtering the debris out of the water. That serves another important function. very small fish (minnows) are prevented from entering saving them. Small fish are not trapped against these holes killing them as often happens with other pumps. I will continue buying this pumps as long as I have fish ponds.

Great price-works well
This pump is silent, doesn’t clog and was running with sustained days of single digit temps with no issues. Even when the face of it is clearly stuffed with leaves, it doesn’t slow down! Just wipe it off with a broom! East to maintain

Tetra Debris-handling pump
New entry: My earlier review was accurate. But I just ordered another of these pumps from Amazon, and it is an Amazon-fulfilled order. 1. It came without the required nozzle. I had to contact the mfgr to request one. BUT 2...! Amazon fulfilled the order for one pump and it said free shipping, and THEN AMAZON PRIME CHARGED ME $107.91 FOR SHIPPING A $160 ITEM!!! NO WARNING, NOTHING! WTH????? I telephoned and some nice lady in India agreed to cancel the charge. But when I asked her to explain why the charge in the first place, she changed the subject .I repeated my question THREE TIMES and she just kept changing the subject. I am writing a letter to the CEO of Amazon to tell them just what I think about this little trick. I've had a good an busy relationship with Amazon for years--the this really squashed it! I have six of these Tetra debris-handling pumps going in my several ponds, each with turtles and fish. Over the past 17 years, I have gone through many, many brands and sizes of pumps (Beckett, Little Giant, Mag pumps and others and found that most are prone to clogging or otherwise fail within two years. Most cannot be repaired and those that can be renewed with replacement magnetic rotors soon wear out altogether. Finally, I discovered the Tetra debris-handling pumps and have had excellent results. I've been using the 3,000+ gallon and the 4,000+ gallon Tetras and am very satisfied. I've seen that they can collect a large amount of unpassable debris (leaves, twigs, etc. on the outside and still keep pumping. The only problem I've had is when sand gets into the system. I had to dissemble the pump and clean it out (they give directions on doing this.) Thereafter, I placed the pumps in shallow plastic flower-pot dishes to keep them above the sand on the bottom. I highly recommend these pumps for the pond owner who needs to have debris removed. I make my own filters using large plastic drums filled with lava rock. One caution: If you have mosquito fish, small ones can get sucked into the pumps, along with all the junk that accumulates in a pond containing messy animals, such as turtles. Search for a good price for new units. I've found as much as a 40% price differential between vendors here. Tetra Pond Debris-Handling Pump DHP3600, Ponds up to 3000 Gallons

This pump handles debris well!
This is the second pump we have purchased as he original one lasted about 5 years of continuous operation. The advantages of this pump's debris handling capability cannot be over stated. Pumps that required a pre-filter needed to be cleaned daily, the Tetra pump never needed cleaning. This pump works well when used in conjunction with a settling pool, small debris passes through the pump which then settles out before being returned to the main pond. Highly recommend this pump,

Pump does not work
Having waited for the product to arrive for quite some time, on the very first use the pump was not working. A qualified electrician checked the pump and the connection and determined the fault was with the product. I will be requesting a full refund!
