Has a secret compared to other Channel Locks

This has a button that locks in the lock position. Have you used channel lock while under a sink, and the channel keeps moving lower or higher? and frustration as you sweat to get the job done? Not here. Lock it in and focus on the job instead of the tool. That is it, all I have to say.

I am fast falling in love with Irwin tools...all of them.

Forget what you remember as THE tool brand to turn to...craftsman, dewalt, stanley...etc. IRWIN is fast becoming my go to name when searching for hand tools. While I don't feel like they have nearly enough selection of tools to completely replace all my hand tools, I do think this will be changing soon. The fact that they have been tool innovators for a very long time, they still aren't the most popular brand. Maybe they should be. The original inventors of the iconic "vice grip", they are now owned by Stanely Black & Decker. Maybe this is what they need to get the recognintion they deserve. The vice grip locking pliers are a great tool. VERY comfortable to use, reliable and are well designed. I own them in almost every size- 6, 8, 10, 12" ! Also many other hand tools they make..strippers, saws, fantastic clamps, squares, needle nose....etc. You just can't go wrong with IRWiN.

Better than Channel Lock & Knipex

I got these a few days ago, along with a pair of Channel Lock and Knipex Cobra pliers roughly the same size. I'm returning the Channel Lock and Knipex. After using all three for a few days doing bathroom renovations with plumbing and various other work, including replacing a gas water heater, I much prefer the Irwin Vice Grip pliers. They have less play than the other pliers and grip exceptionally well even doing something like pulling out small finishing nails where you need to use the very end of your pliers. Nothing againts the other pliers but I like the Irwin's best, no matter the price. Lost of positive reviews on the Knipex but I'm much more comfortable with the Irwins and faster too. I think some may be buying the brand. To each his/her own. The Channel Locks, by the way, worked really well too. I'd rank Irwin 1st, Channel Lock 2nd and Knipex 3rd. They're all good.

Excelente, robusto e de alta qualidade

A qualidade deste alicate é excelente (pra não dizer perfeita), muito robusto mesmo, a trava é bem forte e permite ajustá-lo de forma fácil quando se pressiona o botão. As garras do alicate são fortes, encaixam em vários formatos diferentes como roscas, sextavados, peças redondas, ou o que for. Tinha medo dele não aguentar quando se faz muita força, e destravar sozinho, ou até a mandíbula afrouxar, mas nada, ele é muito robusto e aguenta bastante força mesmo. Achava a ferramenta cara, mas é um investimento que compensa, e meu uso é pra manutenção da casa, encanamentos, piscina, esse tipo de coisa, pra um profissional que ganha dinheiro com suas ferramentas vai pagar o custo bem rápido. Ele foi o único que conseguiu tirar uma bucha de redução (3/4" p/ 1/2") de um cano, que estava travada após 30 anos presa no cano, e muito espanada e rente à parede, mesmo só pegando um pequeno pedaço do sextavado ele conseguiu prender e transmitir força pra girar a bucha.

Added the larger size...

I had purchased a set of these in 8" and 10" for my shop at home and have used them for work more than home lately... So I now have ordered another 8" & 10" set for the work van and decided to get the 12" as well. These are about the handiest, versatile, tool purchase I have made in a while. Really have learned to appreciate the one thumb adjustment while holding plumbing parts for assembly, great purchase.

las crestas dónde se abre y se cierra la pinza son pequeñas con el uso terminarán por gastarse, por 5 dólares menos se pueden conseguir las channellock gl-12 de 12.5" con mangos de asas sencilla pero fabricadas en un acero de mejor cálidad con crestas más robustas y fabricadas en USA, en cambio Irwin es hecha en China.

Amazing tool

I do water treatment. And this is my heart and soul tool I use it for everything absolutely love it. It will Rust if you leave it in that damn bucket but it still works like a charm. It's robust and always there to do what you needed to

Versatile

I don't have much tools at my apartment. This is the single most used one outside of my screwdriver set. It grips a variety of nuts and bolts and other things in general. Very versatile. The coating isn't rust resistant and it's starting to show after some duties in the bathroom. Still I love this thing.
