Amazon ships a used product! Otherwise, awesome bag!

Perfect bag for automobile or private plane travel. It’s too nice for airline checked baggage or too large to carry on! Perfect addition to my other Piel pieces! Just keep an eye on Amazon as the bag was Not New. It didn’t have the tags, protective metal covers, the shoulder strap had been adjusted and worn in different places, and most importantly the silica packs were missing - LOL.

Good but I prefer the Piel large duffel

This is a roomy bag with a few too many pockets that reduce the amount of space in the main compartment. The strap is sturdy and anchored in the right spots to provide good balance while on my shoulder. The zippers have large pulls and move easily. I bought this bag and the Piel Large Duffel to compare them. This duffel won because I like having more of the capacity in the main compartment versus divide among the ancillary pockets. I have been loyal to Piel products for nearly thirty years. The naked leather for which they are known is an incredibly thick top grain leather that feels great and lasts forever. Piel uses aniline dyes only so you see the true grain of the leather, including flaws, pores, color variations, etc. present in the animal hide. Because of that, Piel is very selective in the hides it uses. I have a number of items all in the saddle color and the consistency of the color from one item to the next is very high -- not an exact match, due to natural variations, but close enough that my bags look great together.

Fabulous Value

I just received this, ordered it for my husband's birthday. He has a heavy-duty fabric bag that is similar in size and configuration to this bag, but it has become very worn since he uses it on every trip he takes. I was so thrilled to find one like this with great pockets and the u-shape opening, plastic feet to protect the bottom, plus the detachable shoulder strap, all features he loves about his current bag. The size is quite roomy, just what I was looking for. The heavier leather indicates to me that this will wear really well. The lining, zippers, etc. all appear to be very high quality. Finally, the saddle color is beautiful and should age well. Best of all, in the 'fine print' on the description page for the bag, there was a note that some items were eligible for an additional 20% discount, so I tried the code and it worked! The shipping was free, and so even with sales tax, I got the bag for $166.22! I looked at LOTS of other bags on Amazon and other sites, but the quality/price on this one was a real value to me.

Gets better with age.

I bought this bag almost 16 yrs ago. It’s traveled to Africa and Central America many times. It’s held up very well. The more it’s used the better it looks. New version has lighter color fabric on inside so it’s easier to find what your looking for while running through the airport! It also has a better handle wrap than the older version of Velcro. A little pricey but well worth it.

Not a fancy bag, but TOUGH!

I bought this bag a little over a year ago. During the past year I've traveled with it at least once a month including a couple trips out of country. I'm just now writing a review because I just realized how nice the bag is! The bag seems to be improving even after a year of rough handling (including being check as luggage a few times), The leather is reasonably soft and there is plenty of room to accommodate a 2-3 day trip. We're not talking about some fancy designer bag here but after the abuse I've put this bag through it still doesn't show signs of wear and tear. Without a doubt you get WAY more than your money's worth when purchasing this item. This bag is made for people who travel regularly and need luggage that can hold up!

Excellent value for the money

I expected to pay much more for a leather duffel of this quality. It's sturdy, it's attractive, and it has a decent capacity for a 3- or 4-day casual trip. I also like the fact that it folds flat and comes with a fabric bag to store it in.
