Easy to handle an accurate
Nice quality, easy to handle, I did have to bend the fence so it was a true 90°, but other than that it is fantastic, and now works perfectly

Doing what I need but the case could be better.
I am planing some firring to raise some joists to be level with the rest of the house. I have to take off 3/8" so a fair number of passes are required but it's getting the job done. The case is not very good in that it's not clear how to put the components back in so they're secured. Everything goes back in but they move about. I'm getting a vacuum adapter because using the bag still results in dust escaping and I think a negative airflow will help that. The bag is quite small and needs to be emptied every 20' when you are planing at 1/16". However, if the bag were larger, it would get in the way. There seem to only be two sizes of adapters that might have been needed so it would have been sweet if one had been included — what could a little piece of plastic cost to make? Better yet would be one adapter that adjusts. It's not an expensive, high-end tool but I'm only a DIYer so it meets my needs well. It was a reasonable investment and I'm pleased with it. Make sure to use the guide because, while it's easy to stay straight end-to-end, it's very easy to roll along the way.

Only issue is the dust ejection port gets stopped up sometimes

It did a wonderful job on my closet door
I needed to shave about 1/8” off part of the top of my closet door to get it to close. This was my first time using this tool on a project. I set it up with the included guide and aligned it up to center the face of the planer on the top of the door for balance. I set the depth for about 1/32” and started shaving a bit off from the center of the door to the end farthest from the hinge. I kept making passes until I could see that the door almost had enough clearance to close. Then I took the door off the hinges and leaned it at about a 30 degree angle. I set the planer on the door top and it held nicely at that angle. I then made about 2-3 almost complete passes from the hinge side out. The photo tells it all - smooth cut, clean, no chatter, and a perfect 3/32” gap all along the top of the door. It now closes perfectly!!! Saved me a ton of time and looks professional!! I love this tool!!!

The perfect tool for sticky doors. Case could use improvement.
I received this tool yesterday afternoon and had my first door done to my satisfaction within the hour. The 3-degree shoe attachment makes getting the correct relief angle on the door edge much easier, and once the planing work is done, a groove in the middle of the sole plate facilitates cutting a nice bevel on the planed edges. Note that it does take a bit of finesse to get it right. The start and end of each cut are a bit hairy, as only one end of the sole plate is supporting the tool. I found it best to take very light passes, with the tool set at its lowest adjustment. In a few minutes I had the door edge the way I wanted it. The case doesn't hold the assembled tool, and this will be a hindrance for a contractor. For a homeowner, it's not a big deal to have to reassemble the guide assembly and dust catcher each time you use it, but contractors should be aware of this annoyance. The price is good for what this tool is, and I justified buying it by considering how much it would cost to have a guy come in and do this on a few sticky doors in my house. Update: I used the tool on my second door today and had a thought that maybe I could just detach the guide from the tool but leave the guide assembled and slide it somehow into the case...not a chance. Shame on you Bosch, you know better than to make a case like that where users have to disassemble the guide to store it. The tool is still top notch though, so I won't let the case design bother me.

Powerful, smooth-running, solid e-planer.
There are plenty of choices in electric hand planes from occasional use to what might be called investment grade. The Bosch falls in or near the latter. The cutter-depth is easy to adjust with good detents (beginning at 1/64") and if you plan to do a lot of planing, that's important. The motor has soft-start, which is helpful for a powerful, high RPM tool. I already had a 50+ y.o. Rockwell, BUT it was purpose-built for narrower wood (eg doors) and the side fence is non-removable. This model comes with a removable fence that seems to be easily adjusted (I put it on, tested the fit and adjusters but then took it right off since I was eager to experiment with wider slab-like boards.) So far in 2-3 hours' use it does a fantastic job. I pushed it a time or two (on well-seasoned oak and poplar) just to see where the motor started to bog, but in most any normal use, I don't forsee a problem. The Bosch has an overall solid feel comparable to the old (but still great running) Rockwell. Other than initial cost, I can think of no real shortcomings or criticisms.

gouged the wood on the right side with no option to adjust
I bought this to help refinish and old dining table top. While it removes wood plenty fast, it consistently created deeper grooves on the right than on the left. I looked for a way to adjust the depth from side to side and there isn't any. It simply says in the manual that it's adjusted from the factory. I think this is a serious design flaw from Bosch. I have several of their tools, which are excellent, but this one seriously disappointed me. I returned it and bought a Makita instead, which has at least minimal adjustment options.

Excelente herramienta

The 1632 is a great unit.
Very smooth and accurate unit. Used it to plane rough milled pine as well as rough burnt walnut with ease. No clogging with dust extractor attached. Good weight allows the unit to do a good job without much downward pressure on pine (soft wood). Operation takes practice and good to use scrap for that purpose. Height adjustment is accurate. Blade is of good quality. Very nice results creates less sanding. Very pleased with the Bosch planer 1632. Does the job for a good price and replacement blades can be bought in Canada. Worth checking out.

Out of alignment
With the rotating drum positioned so that the blade is hidden, and with the depth gauge set to zero, the base is reasonably flat when tested with a straight edge - you can still see a glimmer of light underneath the straight edge so it's not 'perfect'. Unfortunately, when the drum is rotated to bring the blade to its maximum cutting position and the straight edge is applied across the base, it 'rocks' significantly along the entire length of the blade, which results in at least a 1/32 inch cut on the ZERO setting. There appears to be no way to adjust the position of the drum so that the planer will remove no material on the ZERO setting. Very disappointing for a relatively expensive tool. I expect much better engineering from Bosch.

Solid Unit
I was looking for a reasonably priced hand planer and this fits the bill. Bosch usually make very good equipment and this is no exception. It is somewhat heavy but I like that as it stays put when planing a thin piece of material. I found, after some practice runs, that I could plane a piece and not gouge the ends which saves on setup time. The dual-mount guide fence can be mounted on either side of the unit and b/c it's the dual-mount, as opposed to the single-mount, it is quite easy to manage when working. The unit also has a swivel where the cord joins the planer and that helps keep it out of the way without bending the cord. I have not done enough pieces to comment on how accurate the depth dial is but it appears to be pretty good so far. I like that the unit comes with a shavings bag and can be adapted to a vacuum if necessary. I'd buy this unit again !
