I've used a product like this in the past (started with an M, came in a white jar, is available on Amazon, which I purchased at a craft fair at our Fairgrounds (and who doesn't keep their promise about a "lifetime discounted price" if you buy at the Fair). The seller, upon my expressing doubts as to those balls of gunk really being my dead skin, rubbed some on the lid of the jar and.....nothing! No balls at all! After having used this Peter Thomas peel and getting TONSSSS of balls - like, srsly, an inordinate amount of balled up gunk! - and remembering the lid test at the fair, I did the same test with this product and got the same results - no balling up on the lid of a jar! Then I wondered if the balling up was perhaps a reaction with warmth, like, maybe the product congeals with heat. I had the idea to turn my hair dryer on low and warm the gel on the jar lid as I rubbed it in circles......but first, I thought I'd use it on my face again for the 2nd day in a row and see if I got the same HUGE amount of balls. I didn't! After using it yesterday, putting moisturizer on my face overnight, and then applying the peel again the today, I got almost no balling up! I rubbed and rubbed, even added a little more gel and waited a couple minutes, rubbed again, and still almost nothing. So I decided that, probably, the hair dryer test would not be unnecessary because, obviously, this gel was doing SOMETHING on my face. Although I did consider the fact that I may have had some residual cream on my face from the night before. Maybe I'll try my experiment again in a day or two. Took off one star because this is not actually a PEEL, in either of the 2 ways we normally think of a peel, either a mask you peel off or a chemical peel which actually, imo, also doesn't really qualify as a peel as much as an exfoliant, like this gel. In fact, a 20-30% chemical peel and this gel will probably yield very similar results. Some will argue, but I've done both and after all the dead skin is off, the face looks the same. (The only TRUE peel is the deep, laser peel like Fraxel. Check Google images and you'll agree!) P.S. I must add that this gel barely balled up on my hand or forearm, where I KNOW I have dry, dead skin because I have severe KP and I'm 48 y.o. and 8 years post TAH-BSO (Google it, lol) with very dry, menopausal skin and the beginnings of aging-related crepey skin. Things aren't wonderful in the skin department, lol. So IDK why I got no balling up on my arms. ????????♀️ But my face was crazy soft after the 1st use of this peel, a noticeable difference from my peel-off mask and my scratchy exfoliating gloves that I use in the shower. So it looks like I'll have to keep myself stocked with this stuff!
