Athletic fit get 6" drop
My son usually wears a 44S in a classic cut jacket and 36x30 in pants. That's an 8" drop which is more typical for someone with an athletic build which he has. In these separates the pants and jacket looked disproportionate to each other. The pants had a modern fit even as his mother I have to say the pants looked hot on him. The jacket not so much. Looked old manish. Fortunately I also ordered the 42S just in case. That did the trick! Great looking, hip, stylish suit. A little trendy in fit but subtly. So for athletically built guys go for a 6 inch drop. Take the waist size of your casual pants and add six inches. That should give you a good fit. As for regular, short or long go to a department store and try on any jackets and you'll find out how long you like the sleeves and hem of the jacket to be. My son has short arms and legs compared to his torso so a short fits him better. Many men who do not wear a suit for a living often wear jackets that are too long in the sleeves for them. The cuff of your shirt should just peek out the bottom of the sleeve. One thing a tailor cannot easily or affordable alter is the shoulders so be picky about that. [...] has excellent info on buying a suit. More important than brand, fabric, price, or type of construction, fit is what really makes a great suit.

Happy with my purchase (50 long Charcoal Coat/42W x 32L Charcoal Pants)
I believe this is worth the price I paid to acquire a 2 piece suit. It fits per what I selected. The pants were exact to measurement, which means I don't need a belt while wearing these. However, I know some people are going to want to know: Coat received is 76% Polyester, 25% Rayon, which is not the "65% Polyester, 35% Viscose" advertised here. My suit was made in Vietnam. I guess that's where it was imported from. It has shine and I think the pictures show that well enough in when you see them. I imagine that this would be pretty easy to spot as an inexpensive suit. First time I took the coat off, I noticed some static cling which my expensive suit doesn't have during winter. I addressed this by wetting my hands, letting them drip off a bit, and running my damp hands across the inner lining. This works for most clothes. It looks like there is spare fabric in the cuffs to extend them out if necessary. This is something I wasn't sure what to expect. The neck is a bit weird and pokes out at the chest a bit, but that can be fixed by a tailor, which you should definitely be seeing for any suit you own.

Great material, tailored to slim fit pant
For the price, these pants can't be beat. I purchased them to go along with the jacket. I am a muscular build and typically wear a 34inch waist. I tried on these in the 34x34 in the store, and they were simply too tight through the thigh. As I said, I have larger than average thighs so that may need to be taken with a grain of salt. I feel that would fit great on someone of a more average build. I ended up going with the 36x34. The legs fit perfect and the length was true to size. I still, however, brought them to the tailor to make up for too much room in the waist by going a size up. I had the seat and waist taken in and was very happy with the result. For $20-30 worth of tailoring (waist, seat, and hem) you can have a custom looking pant with room to move. I really like the lightweight stretch fabric in these pants as well. It is a great summer suit to keep cool, and doesn't leave you feeling restricted.

Great Fit for an Athletic Build
I have a muscular/athletic build at 6'3 220. "Off the rack" suits are impossible to find so I go with separates. With large shoulders/chest/back and a small waist, jackets are a nightmare. I was lucky enough to find this in the store to try on sizes before purchasing. I usually fall between 44L or 46L depending on the brand. The 46L had way too much fabric in the body. The 44L fit me perfect through the midsection but was slightly tight in the upper back. It is definitely a slimmer fit with a good bit of taper through the midsection. The part I love the most is the stretch of the fabric. I could have worn this one straight off the rack but chose to get it taken in a bit more as I like my jackets to be somewhat more form fitting. For me,this was a size down from my normal. Had the 46L fit better through the midsection, I would have gone with it instead. But $45 worth of tailoring makes this suit look custom so I am more than happy.

PERRY ELLIS MEN'S SLIM FIT SUIT (BLAZER 42L) - SOLID BRIGHT BLUE
PERRY ELLIS MEN'S SLIM FIT SUIT (BLAZER 42L) - SOLID BRIGHT BLUE I’m 6’2’, 180lbs, fit/athletic build. These are my notes about this product: PROS: - Great looking product, at first impression it looks well designed and made. - It is slightly more trimmed than a regular/same size blazer, therefore it feels “fit”. - The size 42L is true-size, I can blind-buy a 42L and I know it will fit me just right, and this is the case. CONS: - The price for just the blazer is a bit high, I paid $88. You can get the full set, almost an identical 3 piece suit for about the same price, I’m referring to MY'S Men's 3 Piece Slim Fit Suit, One Button Jacket Blazer Vest Pants Set and Tie, which I also purchased and it looks identical. RECOMMENDATION: It is a very nice blazer, the color (solid bright blue) is magnificent, the finishing is impeccable, a great looking blazer, definitely a must buy.

Modern look with class.
Beautiful on him but a wee bit boxy around the waist. The cut in the shoulders is nice.Even though our 15yr. old is 5ft 8in. tall we ordered the 40s and it looks more like a modern cut and the sleeves are at the modern length that is popular now so it looks much like the picture. My only complaint is that the blue is slightly darker then this picture but he still likes it. The pants that go with this jacket were very very slim cut unlike all his other slim cut dress pants in these I need in the next size up from what he wears.Would I order this suit cut in the future - YES- it is a very attractive suit and very modern without being to modern ( not interested in a suit that looks like it shrunk).

Nice Quality - Too Small
The pants are very nice. The quality and appearance is great. I found the size was too small in the waist even though I ordered my normal size. Returning unfortunately.

Nice suit jacket
Nice suit jacket. It fits a lot better than my old one, which was too baggy and long. This is probably because this is a slim fit while the other one was a classic fit. It looks good too. So far I have no complaints.

Fit not necessarily consistent with description
I ordered one of these jackets in size 40R and found the fit to be quite slim (as advertised). The material is fine and since I quite liked the jacket, when it was on sale for $50 I thought I should pick up another one to keep in the office. However, despite ordering the exact same item in the same size, with identical tags in the jackets, the second one did not fit the same. Although identical to the first one I ordered (40R, slim fit) the jacket fits noticeably looser. It's not "baggy" by any stretch, but closer to a "regular" fit. Either these Perry Ellis jackets have significant variability in fit between items, or they may be mislabeled. At sale prices (and with free returns), it's worth rolling the dice - but don't expect a consistent fit.
