Most successful feeder I've ever owned.
I have several feeders on my balcony, filled with the same feeds. Before I used this one, birds would spend an hour or so a day at them. As soon as I installed this one, they flocked to it, for most of the days. (I have no idea why). They only use the others if this is empty. There are no instructions, so it took a long time before I figured out how to get the roof off (it is filled through the top.)

Ideal Feeder For Most Birds
This feeder is sturdy, medium-sized, and easy to open, fill, and clean. Most birds that come to feeders like black oil sunflower seed, plus this accommodates both clinging and sitting birds (although not large ones, such as mourning doves). It's just about the perfect feeder, and I plan to get more as I upgrade my older tube feeders.

Good sturdy feeder
I cannot say anything more than has already been stated. One fun fact though......I see from Amazons' great records that I purchased 2 of these feeders at the end of May 2020....color green. Well it's Feb. 2023 and they are holding up structurally just fine but they look like heck. Green is all faded.....some rust/oxidation....not bad but there. We like stuff to look nice...not to show off but because that is the way we like to keep our possessions. So it's either give myself another mini painting project or can these and buy 2 new ones. We live in middle TN.

ABOUT AS GOOD AS YOU CAN GET...UNFORTUNATELY
We are hard core feeding birds and squirrels. Birds, not much problem. Squirrels are really tough on feeders. We bought this feeder which lasted a year and a half of hearty daily assault by 5 or 6 squirrels. The problem with squirrels and peanut feeders is the squirrels will pull apart wire grids exposing sharp pointed wires which make my skin crawl. Deep six those feeders with their overlapping wire mesh. I thought squirrels would not be able to get the shell-less peanuts out the smaller round holes in this feeder. I was wrong and it has lasted longer than I expected. An improvement would be a feeder where the edges were welded down tight to protect the squirrel. This one worked out to about a dollar a month. Not bad. Still looking for the permanent feeder. Til then, this is the best I have seen.

Birds love it but so do the squirrels
I have five bird feeders on my back porch and the small birds seem to like this feeder best. However - so do the squirrels. It's really hard to keep them off. While they have not damaged the feeder they do manage to get a lot of the food out of the rather small holes. I also had to tie down the lid as the squirrels can remove it and eat right out of the top of it. I have not yet seen any of the woodpeckers using it and they love peanuts so I have no idea why they are avoiding this feeder. It is the only one in which I put peanut pieces. I mixed the peanut pieces with safflower seed as I read that squirrels do not like safflower seed and that did keep them away for a few days. But it seems my squirrels have adjusted their taste buds to safflower. This feeder is very easy to fill and clean.

Bird magnet!
The media could not be loaded. LOVE this feeder, and so do the birds! Within an hour of hanging this feeder the birds were on it. I mixed black oil sunflower seed and peanut chips. The top and bottom twist of easily making it very easy to fill, and to clean. Chickadees, tufted titmouse, carolina wrens, house finches, american goldfinches, downy woodpeckers are frequent visitors to this feeder. The bottom tray is big enough that birds like the cardinal and mourning dove can perch and eat too. I read all the reviews before purchasing this feeder. Some complain that the seed all falls through and they give this feeder a bad rating, yet no one mentions what kind of seed they used. This feeder is advertised as a sunflower seed feeder, it says it holds "black oil sunflower seeds". Use the seed it's intended for and you wont have that problem. Some complain that the piece that holds the ring to hang the feeder came off. That piece appears sturdy on my feeder and it's hanging up without any problems. But, I also just got the feeder so time will tell. If any problems should arise I will update my review. As far as squirrels, I use a baffle on my feeder pole so squirrels never get to my hanging bird feeders. I also put seeds & peanuts on the ground for the squirrels which keeps them happy...they need to eat too ????

Adorable!
I love this. It's well made, easy to clean and refill and so cute hanging in the yard. The only problem is that it is too easy for the squirrels to get into. I'm keeping it because I like it and I'll just have to feed the squirrels too.

Very robust, but
This is a very strong feeder. I purchased this because the squirrels in my garden were ripping the mesh nut feeders apart and then departing with all the nuts. Even their strong teeth will not damage these as they are a metal tube with holes drilled in them. The bad point is that the birds find it very difficult to extract the nuts from the feeder. The peanuts do not move about like in a mesh feeder, so after a while although there are still nuts in the feeder there are air pockets behind the holes. This means you have to go out and shake the feeder to reposition the nuts. Depending on where your feeder is placed this can be a chore. Mine is strategically placed in a tree as this stops the sparrowhawk plucking birds off the feeder, which was horrible for them and pretty distressing to watch. However if you use this to feed large sunflower seeds it is fine. Small seeds would flow straight out of the holes. So only sunflower seeds will work. I did not need another seed feeder and that is why I gave it only 3 stars. Because it was sold for nuts and is not very good for that purpose. I also purchased from Amazon an RSPB heavy duty mesh nut feeder. This is a very strong mesh and although I think long term it may suffer some damage it is the best mesh feeder I have come across. I would buy that for nuts in future if I need to. As always this review is my honest opinion of an item for which I paid full price and I was offered no inducements for this review. One last thing the tracking on this delivery was useless. It was saying the item was still in Germany 3 days after I received it. But it came via Hermes who are my least favourite delivery service. Use DPD for goodness sake.

Fabulous product, 100% squirrel proof!
After searching for a squirrel proof peanut feeder for years, we are delighted to have found this product. We have gone through at least six different products over time, all claiming to be squirrel proof but all failed miserably. Our birds have responded brilliantly to this feeder. This includes all the Tit family, but the Woodpecker and Nuthatch stay to feed much longer than they used to do with the previous feeders. Most importantly the Grey Squirrel population are totally defeated in getting any of the nuts due to the design and strength of the feeder. Highly recommend, great product, have now bought three!

Bought to combat a squirrel bitting through other feeders for peanuts.
After 1 day of use I realised I had to drill a screw into the cap which does not lock and the squirrel could remove top and eat peanuts directly. After adding a screw + fly nut to lock it the feeder has been up over a year and the squirrel can eat for 8 hours a day and the feeder lasts for 3-4 days in continuous use. Only minor paint damage where the squirrel has attempted to eat through the hole and chipped the paint but it is still 100% functional.

Squirrel proof.... so far!
Bought this to keep out the squirrels and seems to be working so far. One determined squirrel has had 4 separate attempts without success. Took 3 or 4 days for the birds to get used to it but it's now used very regularly by blue tits and great tits. Top is quite loose and I was worried the squirrel would somehow knock the feeder onto the ground but this hasn't happened. Would recommend to anyone wanting to keep the squirrels away from their bird feeder - not that expensive either.

Squirrel proof?
Well, it does prevent the squirrels from devouring the all seeds inside. It doesn't stop them getting anything but it's tough enough not to get damaged by them. I think they find it hard to get seeds so don't spend a lot of time on the feeder.
